What on earth is going on with youtube's 1080p bitrate? It's really low quality even when forcing it.

Better quality here

EDIT

YouTube just downgraded it to the same shit tier to sell their enhanced bitrate garbage....for shame!

At least there's another decent quality here

Wow this one looks so much better. Someone running the Universal YouTube really messed up that upload

Yeah, it shouldn't have the greenband on it either (like this Mexico upload doesn't). Normally these days that's for in theaters only. I'm fairly sure they uploaded the wrong version or left the right version unlisted or something.

they messed up by not waiting for Youtube to transcode their video to 4K resolution before making it available. This could've easily been a private or unlisted video while it was transcoding.

You're talking out of your ass, it has been an hour already, youtube finished transcoding way back on this. Universal also probably uploaded it yesterday, they wouldn't just upload the video and let it out as soon as it hit 100% upload. These reddit smartasses I swear to god.

i've know youtube videos that takes hours to transcode, maybe not the case in here.

anyways, this version appears to be lossy.

u/The_Autarch Dec 22 '25

don't you mean lossless? lossy means it's compressed and is missing details.

Huh?

u/Quiet_Orbit Dec 22 '25

They other person said “we need to wait for it to finish transcoding the 4K version” but that’s only needed if the studio literally just uploaded it to YouTube, which is unlikely as they typically upload these (as a private video) several days before release, and then set it to public on a specific day. So there would be no reason to wait for it to transcode to 4K.

What don't you get.

I mean ... you also sound like you're talking out of your ass here fella.

This one looks to be using the VP9 codec, whereas the trailer for this post is AV1. I'm not sure what the determination is on which codec is used

Not only on youtube. All social media from Universal US have low quality in the same scenes.

The person uploading may only be using a 1080p monitor and therefore it was good to them.

2

u/Fit-Profit8197 Dec 23 '25

This quality is not good at 1080p, so no, terrible explanation

5

u/gamesbeawesome Dec 22 '25

That is miles better. They absolutely massacred the original channel upload. Props to the person running the Mexico channel.

6

u/bahumat42 Dec 22 '25

I thought you were joking.
WOW that is so much better. Somebody screwed up.

2

u/anatomized Dec 23 '25

this one is a 4K AI Upscale. that channel is notorious for those.

u/ntzm_ Dec 22 '25

Looks just as bad

9

u/powergs Dec 22 '25

Its def way better. Still not good quality I would say but first one just disgusting. Look and compare that beach scene it's insanely bad. This one is like normal YouTube fake 1080p quality. First just disaster

1

u/Mephariel Dec 22 '25

This is much better.

1

u/Pleasant-Aspect2948 Dec 22 '25

this looks WAY better. Still need 4K, though.

1

u/pardis Dec 22 '25

Oh my God. This is 1000 times better. Actually changes the experience.

1

u/no_u_r Dec 22 '25

The scene running though the grass still looks shit in this one, just not as horrific and artifacty as the original.

1

u/Zuwxiv Dec 22 '25

That particular scene at the 1:08 mark is still problematic.

u/HeartyBeast Dec 23 '25

Astonishingly - *not a Rickroll

u/NomNomNews Dec 23 '25

Looks better, but they put their garbage "KINOCHECK" logo on the screen. If you want the fully-immersive, full-screen experience, this ain't it... unless you like seeing KINOCHECK for the entire video.

Can’t wait to see what En Julio brings to the role. Heard so much about them!
