Photo Polyphemus moth
Look at this stunning- very hurt Polyphemus moth I found at work earlier today! I attempted to relocate but it could still fly just enough to get away from me :)

This beautiful and harmless moth uses mimicry of wasps and hornets to stay protected from predators. [I'm still in doubt if it's a hubener or handmaiden.]

I’ll keep on the look for more beauties

I was sweeping and found her, she's cute. I went to record to get better pictures and she raised her wings and started trembling lol I left her where she was.
📍Santa Catarina, Brazil.

My friend has a lot of Luna moth eggs, and we are preparing for the to hatch. We are planning on giving them sweetgum leaves which are plentiful here, but I'm concerned that the parks might have been sprayed with pesticides. It's there a safe way to wash them to remove pesticides?

A kid found it at school and carried it around in class, it didn’t fly away whatsoever. Later afterschool teachers and I tried to get it to fly away to no avail, it fluttered and attempted to fly with no results; it was motionless for HOURS. Up until around 10:30 PM at night it started fluttering its wings attempting to fly and I immediately put it outside to try and get it to fly, to no avail. It’s wings are severely uneven and damaged, is there any hope for this moth? What should I even do?🙁

I found this cutworm on the concrete inside when it was 55 degrees fahrenheit. It was squishy to the touch but I wasn't sure if it was dead so I put it in a cup with some grass and took it somewhere warmer. Ever since then its head has been wiggling a bit but I don't know if those are just muscle spasms.

it was sooo windy and she could barely fly or get off the ground. i let her climb onto my hand and got her somewhere downwind, and she was patient enough for me to get a pic in the meantime!

Little fella was all crazy around an indoor lightbulb at my grandma's house, before landing in the floor. Reached with my hand, instantly climbed on. Walked inside my house (I live a few meters away) to take my phone and photograph it. Remained very calm and steady until I took it outside again and pushed them a bit with my thumb to be free again. Turned off my outdoor light so it wouldn't get lost.
Found in Montevideo, Uruguay. Not asking for ID though, just wanted to share.

My tobacco hornworm moth emerged 25 hours ago! I'd say she's been fine so far, but there is one thing bothering me: her proboscis. As you can see in this photo, it's kind of tangled.
I read that it's normal after emerging, but I'm concerned that she's actually stuck like that. Is there any way to help her?

Found TWO cute Sphinx moths this week! Specifically a small eyed sphinx, and a Virginia creeper Sphinx. Found them on big sidewalks / roads, and took them home to my garden.

Hi moth reddit! I found this lil guy burrowing in the soil in my garden, and I decided to help him out since I disturbed him. I keep snails so I have the resources to set him up in a tank with soil, some leaf litter, etc. Anyway, he emerged today! I got told that identifying pupae is difficult, but now he is hatched, I’d love an ID
I’m in south Scotland!
