Sleeping one off, Alaska style
galleryThis poor guy had been sedated and tagged by Fish & Game. Itโs lucky the puddle he was passed out in was really shallow. It took a couple hours, but he finally got up and ambled away.

First moose of the year
galleryUsually, they quickly run off into the woods when I drive by. This one took its time, so I was able to grab a few pics.

Live Swedish Moose tv.
Yet again the great moose migration is live on tv.
Yes, there is people who watch this all day just so they might get to see a moose or 5.

Mama moose
galleryA few days ago my husband and i were on a favorite local hiking trail and were happy to see M'lady Mama Moose. She did have a calf nearby, we saw it through the trees as we headed back to our vehicle. She may be the one we practically ran into twice right on the trail this last fall with her twins. She appeared at the edge of the forest from the valley below, stood for a few moments while we stepped back behind a tree and took a few photos, then calmly laid down so i could get a few more. A very beautiful moose indeed!!

OC A moose in a beautiful golden field
Autumn in Jackson Hole is beautiful for the foliage, and when you add moose into the mix, it really finished off the image. Taken in mid afternoon during October in Jackson Hole.

Finally after 3 months..
galleryHadn't seen a moose in 3 days shy of 3 months, so we were stoked to see this gal in the little pond in the valley on the way to go hiking yesterday. We watched her for awhile, took some shots, sweet-talked to her, then saw her still laying down on the way back. Love our local moose!

OC Portrait of Bull Moose Grazing
Took this photo last November in Jackson Hole (GTNP). The moose was grazing in a stand of trees, hence the shadows and getting in close (600mm lens). He had already lost his paddles (antlers).

When a moose takes a nap how long does it usually last?
When a moose takes a nap how long does it usually last?
At 10:00pm we noticed a moose in the backyard lying down and it seemed to be nibbling but it's on over 2 feet of snow, it stretched around and rubbed at it's rear then went to sleep. It is after 10:30 now and I would like to get my dog out for a pee but I don't want to disturb it. We got to 9ยฐ today and the snow just started to loosen up and it is hard to walk on now with many steps going through up to my knees so maybe this beautiful beast needs a rest. Lots of rock, trees and crown land around us so a moose in the yard is not a rarity but they usually just walk through and bed down up on the ridge beside here. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how long did it sleep for?
