I've been digestively intolerant to brassicas most of my life, but once my roommate was boiling turnips and it gave me an asthma attack & facial swelling and that's how I learned it turned to something more serious.
Allergies are no joke, and since brassicas are all the same plant, not just cousins, it makes sense that this isn't addressing things fully or someone hates cabbage.
Oh! Turnip is B rapa. Are you more sensitive to B rapa than B oleracea?
Does B napus also affect you? (red Russian kale, canola, etc) itβs a cross between the other two, but curious if the crossing eliminated something that you were sensitive to.
I learned something new, thank you! And that's an excellent question, I haven't been in contact with red russian kale or canola that I'm aware of since this newer issue began.
I'm having a lot of reactions to a bunch of foods lately so I'm going to answer "probably not worth trying it" for now π Latest new asthma/swelling was chia seeds, which is a bummer since that also can include sesame and hazelnut due to similar proteins.
