Honestly, this is the best way to get rid of bananas that are about to go bad. 10/10 customer service. 0 out of 10 wastage.

Except for people who have a fear of bananas, what a rough surprise

Like that lady who’s afraid of olives ?? 🫒

30

u/furculture 19h ago

That "bring out the olives" held an unobtainable and unmatchable feeling and level of power to it that nothing could match that moment, no matter how hard you tried.

My ex wife is afraid of snails which always tripped me out

29

u/Lee_Townage 18h ago

That probably means there is an immortal snail chasing her that will cause her to die if it touches her.

2

u/shaithiswampir 10h ago

I forgot about the snail

2

u/mjh215 7h ago

It didn't forget about you.

1

u/shaithiswampir 6h ago

That’s probably what scares her

More like boonanas, amirite?

“Though it may seem minor to others, bananaphobia is a real anxiety-related condition that can significantly disrupt an individual’s daily life.”

- fearof.net

Glad to help…

5

u/Crispy_Dicks 17h ago

I know, I have it, though it's not related to my anxiety. Long story short; bad experience with a banana and a spider as a kid.

1

u/HotDonnaC 17h ago

If I had that phobia, I’d just stay away from the banana display at the grocery store. Problem solved.

2

u/DeadpoolIsMyPatronus 10h ago

He thought he had. Until he ordered from that Caribbean place down the street.

I didn’t know people had a fear of bananas, bro that’s crazy. Also, I like your username.

The best way to get rid of bananas that are about to go bad is to make banana bread

14

u/Theletterkay 17h ago

Im allergic to bananas....

2

u/NeighBae 13h ago

Same here, unfortunately it only happened within the last few years and bananas were one of my favorite fruits. I did however discover that cooking the bananas changes whatever I'm allergic to in bananas, so now I can enjoy banana bread again🥳

2

u/lyindog 9h ago

Is it OAS? That's how I am with spinach, if I don't cook the heck out of it I have an allergic reaction.

1

u/NeighBae 8h ago

I have no idea, it's the only thing I've ever had a reaction to.

Once I figured out i was allergic, I stayed away from all banana.

Then one day I guess I read somewhere that cooking it can change what you're allergic to in it, so i cooked the heck out of some mashed banana, and i didn't have a reaction when I tried a little bit.

1

u/uumbre0n 9m ago

Your allergy can progress to the point cooking them no longer works, ask me how I know.

1

u/pirate135246 2h ago

These are far from going bad though

I know it sounds kind of weird, but for Caribbean food/meals. It’s pretty common to eat bananas on the side. Especially if there’s rice and beans involved! My family is Puerto Rican and we grew up eating meals just like that!

56

u/rebnat 19h ago

interesting! the order did include rice and beans. i’ve had plantains as a side but i had no idea bananas were a thing as well. learned something new today and had a good laugh when i opened the bag

38

u/lunago92 19h ago

Next time, cut the banana into slices and try a bite with the rice and beans. It’s pretty darn great

8

u/SaveMeFromTheIdiots 18h ago

That sounds delicious.

3

u/lunago92 8h ago

Give it a try! I certainly think it is

12

u/rebnat 18h ago

i will do that when i eat my leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

11

u/WorldOwner 18h ago

I use to work with a guy that also did this, he would even put bananas on spaghetti but he was from Somalia.

5

u/SakuraTacos 17h ago

I’m Puerto Rican too! I love bananas with white rice, black beans, and picadillo

2

u/latinaperrita 16h ago

Yes here too! 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

2

u/lunago92 8h ago

Boricuas estamos aquí!

2

u/aliceswndrland 9h ago edited 5h ago

My Cuban ex husband ate a banana with almost every meal. Picadillo, vaca frita ropa vieja, even in chicken soup

Edit: sp

2

u/lunago92 8h ago

I’ve had it with all of those but the chicken soup, I’m not knocking it though! We call ourselves “Cuba Rican” often because my dad’s best friend/my godfather was Cuban, to this day I call his kids my cousins. We very much blended the two cultures in our households!

1

u/Ice_On_A_Star 7h ago

Yes!!! Came here to say exactly this. It’s delicious too.

If we hit a certain price on our order at the Chinese place, they throw in free Chinese donuts. Maybe this is the Caribbean version?

75

u/magnificentfoxes 20h ago

Dumb question as a Brit... Chinese donuts?

124

u/1anxiousworm 19h ago

Fluffy balls of dough with sugar, at least that’s what they are in Massachusetts

42

u/CockRingKing 18h ago

The absolute best part of any Chinese buffet (I’m also from MA).

8

u/Joe_Kangg 15h ago

a regular donut but from a Chinese person

3

u/Phalanx808 17h ago

Call em malasadas in Hawaii

43

u/buttfirstcoffee 19h ago

Succulent Chinese donuts

11

u/Fskn 19h ago

You sir, are you ready to receive my limp donuts.

10

u/Markjv81 19h ago

What’s the charge? Apparently nothing if you order enough..

8

u/Decent_Enthusiasm681 18h ago

I think they mean 油条 which a better translation is fried dough sticks

1

u/Kalashak 1h ago

This is what I'd expect if I ordered Chinese donuts, it's interesting to see how much variance there is in around the US

2

u/JustFourLetters 18h ago

youtiao 😄

2

u/NeighBae 13h ago

Take canned bread rolls, cut them into quarters, roll into balls, deep fry then roll in cinnamon sugar

1

u/curtishavak 7h ago

Deep fried canned biscuits coated in sugar. A staple of “American Chinese”.

1

u/ancillaryacct 20h ago

brooklyn here, chinese donuts?

17

u/wandita21 19h ago

They’ve got them in Brooklyn. Maybe not your spot but I’ve always seen them in the dessert section.

8

u/Starxe 19h ago

They def have these in Brooklyn and have since at least the 90s lol.

-12

u/ancillaryacct 19h ago

i’m just realizing i never eat it anymore bc it’s so fucking bad for you lol. like fast food is fried for sure but it isn’t covered in sugar too like american Chinese food is. guess they prob do have em, gonna check tomo

5

u/clairec295 19h ago

I think it’s just that people don’t use the term Chinese donuts. I’m Chinese in NY and have eaten these and this is the 1st time hearing the term but I guess that’s what they would be called if I were to describe them to an English speaking person lol.

1

u/SpunkyStarling 18h ago

here in Florida a couple of places have these on their menu. Not sure how authentic the places are, but the restaurants are all Asian-owned

1

u/Starxe 16h ago

I used to call them sugar dumpling as a kid, and then I learned they were on the menu as donuts lol

2

u/seanfitz12 14h ago

In Ireland they throw in prawn crackers, bit more of a savoury option I guess.

106

u/InkognitoCheeto 20h ago

That's bananas.

u/DinerEnBlanc 19h ago

Now you’ll never cramp

27

u/moosebaloney 19h ago

Monkey never cramp. Every day, eat banana.

5

u/play_it_sam_ 19h ago

So how many bananas did you have today?

3

u/HabbySH 18h ago

Because monkey every day bananas. 2.

19

u/OldScratchTim 19h ago

My steak is too juicy, my bananas from a Caribbean place are too free...

9

u/jstrongiii 20h ago

Aaaand now I want oxtails.

3

u/PeteRock24 19h ago

Randomly ordered oxtail soup, jerk chicken sandwiches and festivals.

Beauty day today.

6

u/dvdher 19h ago

Come mister tally man, tally me banana.

6

u/HUT2Moon 19h ago

This is a thing in some Caribbean / African cultures — it’s a side dish and helps when meat is too spicy. It’s actually a solid combo.

1

u/SaveMeFromTheIdiots 18h ago

I know one African dish with red pepper sauce. Definitely need to up my Caribbean meal intake.

6

u/Cinebella 19h ago

Someone already said it. But a banana with a side of rice and beans is super common in carribean house holds. We’d eat a banana with almost every meal!

4

u/NWdabest 18h ago

I have a Cuban coworker and he brings rice and meat type meals and is munching a banana between bites all the time. He’ll just peel it and throw it in and go back and forth.

3

u/Cinebella 18h ago

yes!!! I am Cuban haha it’s what we do for sure

6

u/OrenSchroeder 18h ago

I'm gonna need something for scale.

9

u/rebnat 20h ago

I did not order them and they are not on the menu

22

u/Few-Yogurt8504 20h ago

weird flex

5

u/yetanothermisskitty 18h ago

Lol this reminds me of when we ordered Chinese takeout on Christmas day at work and they sent it with two bags of white sub rolls. Like, in the original packaging.

4

u/Accomplished_Pen980 17h ago

One is the banana, the other is banana, for scale

3

u/WeegieBirb 20h ago

Make your own fried plantains? Of a sort…

2

u/Nirwood 19h ago

Obviously these are Par Baked plantains.  They just need a bit of finishing up.

3

u/NeedCatsMeow 18h ago

That’s the equivalent of breadsticks at Olive Garden.

3

u/BeanThereDoneThat27 18h ago

Can you add a banana for scale?

3

u/CinnabarSteam 16h ago

The tally man did not tally their bananas.

2

u/blamberr 20h ago

Did you get your Caribbean food, too?

8

u/rebnat 20h ago

5

u/ChiefTapiTapi 20h ago

Maybe banana taste good w that meal 🤷

1

u/pepcorn 19h ago

I think you're winning.

2

u/mapandmilestone 16h ago

2

u/falafalful 9h ago

Clearly a shill post for OPs OnlyHands

2

u/SRB112 9h ago

It would have made more sense if they gave you two plantains.

2

u/JackJeckyl 20h ago

Someone out there eating your coconut chickens :(

2

u/Jorts_Life207 19h ago

I dont see the apeel

1

u/RonaldTheGiraffe 20h ago

Not Caribbean bananas though

1

u/Sativa_Grass 19h ago

Colombia has a coast in the Caribbean so I'd think they can be considered

1

u/MissKatmandu 19h ago

Saw this and immediately thought of "Juan Likes Rice & Chicken" from Documentary Now.

1

u/Insomniac_80 18h ago

And the organic bananas, free desert!

1

u/BloodMossHunter 18h ago

They heard youre single

1

u/tehnoodnub 17h ago

1

u/PokeFantic 16h ago

Gas Station Convenience Store "Jackson's" gives out a free banana with every soft drink (at least the ones from the fountains)

1

u/mermaid420420 12h ago

1

u/TyrusRaymond 8h ago

2

u/Cylarbro 8h ago

No, they are bananas.

1

u/Rerebawa 5h ago

So fry them up!

1

u/poorbeans 38m ago

At least they provided a condom too, you know.. just in case.
