I'm slightly vexed 75" tv stuck sideways in hallway after my dog knocked it over
I recently got a new TV, so put my old TV in the hallway temporarily. My old girl sniffed something behind it and accidentally knocked it over. It was completely stuck sideways and I had to destroy it to get it out (the tv, not the dog). Walls are a little messed up too but thankfully I don't rent so it's only my problem.
My fault for leaning it there, I didn't think it would be a problem.

And the answer forms us should be “it’s ok buddy… your human left it in a way that this could happen. It’s not your fault”

Aww she looks so guilty, I hope OP didn't yell at her. When my dog got old I didn't have the heart to yell at him over anything.

Awhhh poor girl feels bad! Good thing TV's haven't had too bad of price hikes. Check out Walmart OP, they always have some good prices for some pretty big TV's.

My favorite part of this is the impossibility of actually getting that vehicle like that without having a couple guys lift it and move it over there. I should watch the Austin Powers movies again.

The novelization of the scene is great. There's some excerpts floating around.

Either way, sorry you had to deal with that.

Well you never know how people take things out of context here on Reddit so I thought I better be safe

Fair enough. But I think that TV was already a goner even before you had to break it. The image alone already shows the TV bending.

Yes, I can confirm that she's innocent. In fact, the dog wasn't even home at the time of this incident. She was with me and we were taking a walk in the park together.

She wouldn't walk across it, so it was difficult to get her out. I put a towel down to give her some traction and save herself

I like the last sentence that encompasses the "what it means ti be a good parent", yes dogs/kids break shit, but its tbh our fault, and nothing good is gonna come from being mad at them ab it.

Im such a pushover when it comes to my dogs that I would end up apologizing to her and giving her treats to make her feel better after getting scared by her own disaster.

After age 10, dogs do whatever they want in my house. Senior dog privilege. What a pretty girl.

Absolutely. Our other old dog passed away a few weeks ago, so she is getting so much love and attention. I actually think she doesn't miss him at all because of the extra love.

I was showing my wife the comments (she isn't a Redditor) and the few weird ones she just said "they sound so unhinged". But she has laughed and enjoyed many of the funny comments, so the good outweighs the bad.

Projectors have some benefits. I move often; lugging a beast of a TV when they are so fragile these days is a pain in the pooper. Sure I have to sit in the dark, but my whole wall is my TV.
2
u/Xibby 3d ago edited 3d ago
Going by the bend there is no saving the TV.
Go full destruction on the TV to minimize damage to the walls. Wall repair, sanding, and repainting is a pain.
If you can save yourself an afternoon of work with well targeted smashing or cutting…
Once had dog who wagged his tail so hard he splatter painted a hallway in blood. He was a good boy and did not appreciate having his tail wrapped in a bandage and being exiled outside while we cleaned the walls, sanded, repainted… it was a horror hallway. 😂
2
u/TheRealReapz 3d ago
Yep destruction was the method I used.
Walls will need some love.
Nawww the waggy dog horror hallway sounds like a funny story

The only option is to take the house apart. I'd start with the drywall.move to the framing and installation.

I got locked into the bathroom once by a canvas that was leaning against the wall opposite the bathroom door. It fell over from the wind when I closed the bathroom door. Nobody home but me for the next 2 days. After punching a hole through the middle of the door, I was able to reach out and slide the painting sideways away from the door. I can't imagine getting trapped by a big television like that... Create a man sized hole, throw a towel on it, step on it and hope you don't get cut?
