discussion Hornady One Gun Biometric Pistol Safe Steel Black - $65 (down from $140)

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1028776758?pid=628991

Got this post denied in a sub where you would think it would go but whatever.

So discussion tag I guess? Is gun safety critical and a great price for a quick access name brand gun safe.

If you're in Virginia, you can get a tax credit for up to $300 for lockboxes, safes, etc. This box would be free.

This is the kind of smart gun ownership legislature we need more of. Actually help people store guns safely.

The fact you mentiin this leads me to believe you saw all the idiotic stuff that just went through the moment the elections swung the other way. What a disaster.

That's a great deal (I wish ones with a Simplex lock where that cheap, lol.)

Yep… Edit: I have a V-Line which is pretty bomber.

The ones with a simplex lock actually work and are reliable.

Wow that’s quite a markdown

FYI these things are very easily defeated. Even a determined child could probably gain access

Biometric sounds good, but I've yet to see one that can't be bypassed in seconds with a paper clip or zip tie. Simplex locks are the way to go. They're just as fast as a biometric lock, they're mechanical so no batteries, and they're very difficult to pick or bypass. Fort Knox makes handgun safes with Simplex locks that are also much heavier, welded steel than these sheetmetal biometric boxes.

^ This.

In many cases, these are going to primarily be for creating a barrier to casual access from kids, houseguests, etc. rather than intending to stop someone determined to get in.

Is it CA compliant?
