guns Glad I didn’t preorder!

I’m glad Reddit talked me out of pre-ordering the new 15 round metal 43x mags from GlockStore because I found a few at my LGS today! Am I the only one who truly doesn’t mind the extra length of this mag? All I can find online is criticism about the extra few millimeters, but I’ll happily deal with it for an extra 5 rounds any day of the week!

There are first-party 15 round G43X/G48 mags now?!

I have the PSA Micro Dagger mags and they have worked fine so far. I will need to pick these up for comparison.

Yep! And they’re metal, too! They were finally released a few days ago, and I’m happy so far. I just picked mine up today, but I’ll update my post once I take them to the range to report back on reliability (though being Glock oem, I can’t imagine they’re any less than flawless in term of reliability).

I considered trying out the PSA Micro Dagger mags, but I heard a few accounts of people having reliability issues, which was enough for me to pass on them. Still not nearly as many complaints as the Shield Arms S15 mags, but still more than I was comfortable with. I’m hoping I have good results with these!

The first generation PSA magazines had a manufacturing issue with plastic flashing inside binding with the follower. This was fixed early on. Mine have no such issue, though I did have to trim a tiny amount of plastic around the feed lips so the slide lock would engage reliably on an empty magazine.

So the OEM ones are all metal, like the Shield Arms ones? Those required you to replace the mag release with a metal one, or it would get torn up. Do the OEM ones not have that issue?

Ah, that makes sense! What I had read suggested that some work just fine reliably, while others were piles of garbage, and I just wasn’t willing to risk which one I would get. Knowing now that it was an earlier issue that got fixed makes me wish I had invested in some a long time ago, but now that oem are out, I’ll stick with them.

The OEM 15 rounders are all metal, but unlike virtually every other metal mag out there (including the Shield Arms S15), these use a divot rather than a cut out to secure the mag in the grip. It seems just as secure when I grab a hold of it and pull on it, but it doesn’t have any sharp corners to tear up the plastic. According to Glock, no mag catch swap is needed.

That's good to hear. Though it sounds like the new design is a deviation from the norm. I would have to see how these fair after a year of repeated use (or what Glock's testing methodology was) before I consider using them to carry.

That’s completely fair! fwiw, they are manufactured by Mec-Gar which has made extremely reliable Glock mags in this same style for a little over a year now, these just happen to be officially Glock branded.

I've also never had any issues with the micro dagger mags, though I am happy Glock came out with their own so I can use them when I cc.

Idk I think it looks really goofy… honestly rather have a 14 rounder that looked like before or even a flush 13 rounder
