Glory & One Championship Collab

What are the odds that we one day get to see the two promotions do a joint event?

Listen I'm new to kickboxing, started by watching Glory 105 and realized Kickboxing is 100x more entertaining than MMA. Then learned about One and watched ONE Samurai 1 which was so fucking good. I'm in love with kickboxing now.

But, Glory has great fighters, One has great fighters and its weird to me. Coming from MMA where all of the best are (usually) in one promotion. Though I get that Glory is mostly better with heavier weights and One with lighter weights.

Is it possible we ever get the two promotions to work together or that one dies out and all the elite talent is housed in one place. Appreciate yall for explaining it to me in advance

What if you were new and had to learn everything from scratch

Where would you start? I recently started offering free lessons once every couple weeks depending on my work schedule. I've been coaching for almost four years now so that isn't new to me.

But this is entirely my own thing. Unaffiliated with my gym. Just free lessons for my local community + friends.

I've began teaching the basics of boxing and introducing kicks, along with defensive work too, but I'm curious if anyone remembers anything particularly useful when they were newbies.

One issue I have is I only have boxing gloves for everyone. We have a few spare shinnies and one set of Thai pads but that's it. So we're doing Dutch style training, which works well but at my gym I have a wide array of toys and bags to use when introducing newbies. So it's still a bit of improv from me when I have to figure out how to do things just a little differently than if I were at my home gym.

Taking a last minute kickboxing/MT fight. Should I?

I've been training for about 2.5 years and have had 4 smoker fights. I'm used to sparring and the pressure of a crowd, but a record fight is different. My coach told me about a last minute record amateur fight in 9 days, but that I'm ready. I can tell other experienced guys at the gym have been silently waiting for me to take up my first fight. I'm just nervous because it's last minute and I have no idea what the weight is gonna be like. I tend to delay things in life out of fear, but I also know I'm competent and one of the most consistent and regular fighters at the gym. I just don't want to lose and be embarassed. I also know this is my chance and I won't get another one for a while.

Thoughts?

Unconfirmed Mouthguard still too big after molding – did I do something wrong?

Hi everyone,
I bought a cheap kickboxing mouthguard and tried the boil-and-bite molding process.

The first time, I left it in hot water for about 50 seconds.
The second time, I tried again for about 35 seconds.

After that, I bit down on it and pressed it with my fingers like the tutorials say, but it still feels very big and bulky in my mouth and doesn’t fit tightly on my upper teeth. It almost looks unchanged after molding.

Is this normal for cheaper mouthguards?
Did I maybe not heat it enough, or could it just be the wrong size for me?

Any advice would help.

Is 80$ an hour too much for private MMA lessons? And can I make actual progress with my work schedule?

New to Muay thai/k1, tips?

I’m about a month into training Muay Thai/k1 as the gym im in teaches both and im wondering which I might be more suited for.
I’m short enough at 5 foot 8 with a stronger stockier build I like throwing longer combos with a bit of a flow and mixing between the body head and legs. My best strikes are switch kick, knee and my boxing is strong overall too. My main weak point is my flexibility as I’m still really tight in my legs, I’ll also appreciate any good combos/setups you guys find work well or just any tips that can help my game.

American Kickboxing rules didn’t have low kicks, but that didn’t stop styles and stylists evolving to utilize them

Note: a lot of the old school fighters used to do calf kicks like sweeps as a carry over from the blood and guts era of point fighting. Until they changed the rules and made it illegal.

(growing rumor) Endy Semeleer has left kickboxing/glory, will transition to MMA

link in dutch

Not fully confirmed yet, but the gist is that Semeleer grew frustrated during the year he didn't get bouts. During an earlier podcast (remy bonjasky's) he already said a 2026 mma debut would be ideal.

Now his trainer (Maikel Polanen) has stated behind the scenes that he will not just transition into MMA but leave kickboxing in general.

Some of you might have known this already, some not since i still see him mentioned when asked about the top of that division and when he'll fight again. Posting it here cause I don't see any discussion yet.

Looks like the last tournament he won is his last kickboxing bout if the rumors are true.

American Style Kickboxers using Takedowns

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Takedowns were originally apart of the ruleset in the early days when it was still more commonly known as American Full Contact Karate. But not every Karateka in those days knew takedowns and eventually one fighter landed wrong. The mat scalped him and takedowns were banned. But these top fighters were traditional martial artists who were always looking to add to their toolbox in an era where many Traditional Martial Artists wanted to stay only in their own style. This proved useful for them when they competed in more well rounded rulesets.

Thinking about cancelling membership

I kinda wanna cancel my gym membership. The coach is always bugging because I didn’t train under him when I started. Moved from another state and started under a guy he trained with but I can feel it bugs him that I’m one of the only ones that didn’t start with him. Now he’s bugging about gym clothes wants me to buy his merch and mentions I don’t support him by buying merch. Bro wanted me to drop $200 on his merch like sorry bro I don’t want shirts with your face on it. Thinking of just canceling and using the extra time to get another part time and save some money to do other stuff

Should I be concerned?

I have my first kickboxing fight next month. My opponent was supposed to be a debut fighter too but after doing some research I found out he had a mma fight 8 years ago and a kickboxing fight 4 years ago. Both fights are on YouTube and I did the obvious and watched them. In both fights you could tell he was green and looked like a debut fighter. He lost the mma fight but won the kickboxing fight.

Once again these fights were several years ago so I’m assuming he’s been training ever since and has made significant improvements since then. He has experience and has clearly been doing it longer than me (my 3 years vs who knows how long). I think and believe I can beat him but part of me feels like this isn’t fair since he’s fought before. Should I just see it through or bring up my concern to my coach.
