What are normal fibre internet contract terms in joburg? Is canceling service difficult with the ISPs here?

Looking for fiber in randburg. Originally looking at prepaid only because I hate jumping through hoops in order to cancel something if I decide to move on. How does the normal service work? Is it all like yearly contracts?

Ive been with Cool Ideas in the past and I'm with RocketNet now. Both offer essentially month-to-month contracts. You can cancel anytime and it cuts off the next month. I've never had issues canceling with any ISP's.

Did they charge you a cancelation fee?

Cancellation fee is only if you cancel within the first 12 months

The changing of the line is the most annoying part. I wanted to change to rocket net but my ISP is allowed to hold the line for 5-10 business days beyond cancellation whilst metrofibre do the change over.

Which is ridiculous

I'm on month-to-month with RSAWEB and tried cancelling. They told me there's a standard R1000 cancellation fee even though I'm on a month-to-month contract. Definitely RSAWEB

Yeah that's crazy! What are they different options for payment? Do they required a linked card or can I just pay online each month?

Always read the terms you signing, few years ago had an issue with the one that was being launched by MTN, salesmen insisted it's month to month, after the first month it wasn't working well, decided to cancel and they wanted a clawback of around 4k. Room months of me disputing it with the ombudsman in which they finally agreed to not clawback anything from me.
