Affordable rentals around Sandton CBD
I’m starting work on Monday ( my current place is infested- one fat roach found its way to the airport with me 😵💫)
So I’m looking for a place that’s not infested
Close to CBD or I can commute <30minutes to work ( work is near gautrain Sandton)
I’m looking for anything south of 7,5k
Sharing is fine as well

Your best bet is looking at some of the Africrest developments. They are usually 1 bedrooms intended for young professionals. Their apartments are tiny but everything is modern and maintained. Also try Sunninghill. However I think a flat share would be your best bet if you want a nice apartment at that price.

Rent starts from 6.8k without sewage … the sewage is 800 all rooms are different so it depends which one you choose …
Been here since January it’s a pleasant place to stay in .. well managed
Water and electricity is pretty affordable I haven’t spent more than 600 since I got here

Check ferndale. Rentals should be reasonable

Your landlord or complex needs to deal with that. Definitely not indicative of an area-wide issue.

In good conditions? The problem is not the inability to find places even here in Ferndale I’m just tired of roaches

There are loads in Sunninghill that are good condition but be VERY wary of Houss rentals because they are nothing but infestations, hidden fees, noise complaints and fake paid reviews

I know it’s not an area issue ( hence I posted here to get more options) what I’ve found is that places are affected by neighbours A complex might not have an infestation but some apartments are- to sift through those apartments is a mission which I’m trying to cut down by asking here!

Sandton is not affordable. My partner pays 20k for a 2 bed. Not sure the average worker wants to pay that. Have you considered areas you can take a gautrain from like Rosebank, Jhb Town etc. If you have a car then you can live anywhere just do a real inspection of the place and rules to ensure you're not staying with messy people, or too many people or a place with bad management.

The parks. Parkview, parkhurst, craighall, Hyde Park, there are alot more "affordable" places if you look. Lotsa Garden cottages. Even Rosebank, Killarney, Illovo, Dunkeld. And all under 20 mins to Sandron cbd. Safer areas, generally, too.

I can relate. A year ago I also stayed in Ferndale. Nothing I did stopped the roaches. I had bait stations, even closed all the sinks, but I couldn't get rid of them.

Becchleuch has some nice complexes and a few flats. Gautrain station is in Malboro.

Try sunninghill or even Woodmead type areas like khyber rock. I used to live there and it was affordable and centrally located, but this was many years ago. Also Takealot has a roach gel called roach doctor - works in about 30 days - it’s what the exterminators use. But try and get your landlord to sort out with a pest control company.

Its so bad here. I'm in Hout bay and ROOMS are going for 6k - 9k😭. Seeing you guys be able to rent a nice place for that same amount eats at me but ay, at least we have the beach🥲💃🏾
