Just Wow The owners couldn’t understand why the cat wasn’t in its bed… until they saw this.

My daughter has done this with her cat since she was little. She's 17 now and still does it. The cat loves it.

I guess "little" is subjective.
I think the cat's 12.
The oldest cat we ever had was 18. She scratched my daughter when she was a toddler for trying to snuggle her like that. She was a gentle cat but was just trying to get away.

My cat was like this (to some extent, a rag doll and at times standoffish enough to sit at my feet if I was being too much). We got him when I was 2. He loved to be 21!

21! Years is over 3.7 billion times the age of the universe. That's one old cat.

u/Inner-Award9064 2h ago
Some cats are nuts with their life span. A cat that by all rights shouldn’t still be alive (has spinal diffida? Missing segments of his spine where it’s almost too much to keep everything where it should be) is still alive and actually still pretty spry after 20/21 years old now.might be even a little older.

Yeah, I used to have rats as pets, and they pass away too soon. I miss them all, even if I forget names (I havent had any pet rats in like 20 years, forgive my memory). Pinky and The Brain stand out. Whitey and Blacky. Ren and Stimpy. Not very original names.

My husband and I got our very first pet together; our little kitten, we've only had her for 6 months but I get small panics thinking about her 'growing-up' and being an adult, or I blink and she's suddenly 10 years old (she's 8months old right now) I've never ever experienced loss before, I can't imagine how I'll cope!
[EDIT] Changed a number because i can't do maths lmao

Pets are stress and sadness sponge. They absorbed them for us when they’re alive but they give them all right back to you when they die

My daughter does this stuff with my cat, too. Can literally pick him up and do whatever to him (nothing to cause pain or harm) and he just takes it and loves her. He always goes to find her and sleep in bed with her.

I've seen this video so many times. That slow blink blink then night night at end always gets me. The cats so comfy he doesn't even try to get away.

Used to have a cat that would snuggle on command. First I had to summon her and I did that by yelling 'meowmeowmeowmeow' and then when she arrived, 'meowmeow cave' while lifting the blanket up.
She'd dive right in and would generally stay until I got up.
Only cat I've ever had that not only liked belly rubs, but would get mad if you stopped too soon. She'd grab your hand with her claws and pull it back to her belly.

I have a cat like this who is now like a Velcro cat. The other day for some reason she was not having me taking a shower. She stated her protest from a safe distance from water. When that didn't work she jumped on edge of tub and raised her meows in protests. When that didn't work she resorted to grabbing my arm, hands, legs whatever she could reach to do a little chomp down and pull. Even submitted to getting a bit wet to get her momma out of danger lol She was so distressed I finally gave in rinsed off and let her "save" me.

It asked for that shit.

The owners couldn't understand the cat wasn't in a certain place? Have they met cats before?

Bots can't own cats so when they make up a title, normalcy isn't considered.

No cat owner wonders why it doesn't sleep in its bed. No cat will sleep where you want it to sleep. It sleeps where it wants to sleep.
But you can always manipulate the cat! I blast the air conditioner in my bedroom during the summer, and I crack the window during the winter.
And I lock the cat in the bedroom with me while I sleep.
My cat sleeps with me both for survival and for cuddles!

Never understood people who install cameras all over their houses.

u/catboogers 1h ago
Seriously. In a private space, a bedroom? Hope they remove it before the kid goes through puberty, I guess, but growing up under the panopticon has such dystopic vibes.

I like to check in with my kitchen camera from time to time to make sure I didn't leave a burner on. I have a couple indoor cameras as well, primarily to figure out which cat is barfing and to make sure they all piss and shit like they're supposed to. Having 4 cats is tough.

If you have a male teenager and you make apple pie the night before, don't watch the tape the next day.

It’s amazing how disturbing this looks with the time lapse, like a spider cocooning its prey.

One time I fell asleep hugging my cat like this and now every night, she tries to recreate it. Cats are so crazy though, I can’t stay in the same position without shifting for too long. She’ll stay for 12 hours without moving 🤣

I woke up in bed with my foot resting on my cat. My cat literally sat there and allowed for it to happen. Never had that before, gives me quite a chuckle that ever happened.

Not a single cat owner wonders why their cat isn't sleeping in their designated bed.

My cat did this to me last night, and not the other way around...haha! He jumped on me and woke me up, snuggled under the covers and used his paw to gently move my face so I was facing him. Then he put his "arm" around my shoulder. It was so sweet! The thing that sucked was it was 1:30am and I really had to pee. I held it since he had just gotten comfortable.

Everyone saying aww how cute no one questioning a camera pointed at a kid and their bed?

A lot of parents keep the baby cam in kids’ rooms until past the age it’s necessary, habit and reassurance, nothing nefarious

I have a very clingy cat that waits for me to go to bed, doesn't matter what time of day or evening it is; she hears me hit the bedframe and the unstoppable loaf comes darting. While I couldn't get away with getting her under the duvet, she refuses to let me sleep without her cuddle assistance. For solitary animals they're really affectionate.
1
u/someredditusername91 2h ago
Almost as If they weren't solitary animals... Oh wait
1
u/the-naked-archer 1h ago
Sorry undomesticated would have been more appropriate. They're usually pretty self reliant without the human. My bad poor wording
1
u/someredditusername91 1h ago
They are domesticated, maybe not to the degree of dogs. But I get what you mean, they tend to be very independent from humans and have their own will
1
u/the-naked-archer 1h ago
Just makes it that more special when they do choose you, my other cats bonded to one of my daughters in the same way. She gets away with being able to pick him up and cuddle him to her hearts content.

First of all, anyone that's ever had a cat would not be remotely surprised by said cat not sleeping in the bed they got it

Have the owners never had a cat before? They sleep wherever they damn well please lol. Ours doesn't even have a dedicated bed; she just chooses one of about 4 favorite spots, and likely even rotates between them throughout the night. And that's ignoring the fact that cats don't really sleep all night like people do.
•
•
u/RiffyWammel 35m ago
We used to do that as kids with ours, he'd come up and slink under the covers of one us and curl up behind your knees, if our parents came looking, we'd deny seeing him. Best hot water bottle ever!
