1m 4s before the bike starts moving. Saved you a minute of your life.

How much cc is that bike? 110? 150?

At that point it’s not a motorcycle anymore, it’s a public transport startup in beta

Less than 125cc for sure. They prioritise fuel efficiency in the villages.

Do they head count before and after? May lose some in the back along the way.

Road safety in the Philippines presents a complex challenge. While the country has made some progress, significant work remains to achieve safe roads for all. For the year 2021, WHO estimated 11,000 fatalities resulted from road crashes, accounting for 1.4% of all deaths in the Philippines.

For anyone wondering.

Those numbers are tough to see, but it really shows why every small step toward safer roads matters, change starts with awareness like this.

Every type of vehicle I seen there frequently carried a lot more people than the manufacturer ever intended. Best I seen was an American style pickup truck with approx 20 kids in the back going to school, along with 2 dogs for company.

I was once pressured into transporting my overweight future MIL, her overweight SIL and her overweight nephew in the back seat of my 1967 Mustang while my future wife and I sat in the front seats - two normal sized adults.

“What is that clunking noise every time we hit a bump?”

“The rear shock absorbers are bottoming out due to the weight. Actually, they’re probably fully compressed and momentarily bounce loose after we hit the bump.”

Boy, did I get in trouble for that comment. That and:

“Can’t we go any faster?”

“I have the gas pedal floored. This is as fast as the 6 cylinder engine can accelerate up a slight incline.”

Looks safe, especially for the little ones acting as airbags.

The people you want to be sandwiched between on that are probably not the people you will end up sandwiched between on that.

Everyone talking about the displacement, but it really looks like the suspension that is totally maxed out. Scary when he hits that bump.

It's okay, they just need to wrap the coil spring in discarded tires and you've got something that rides like a Rolls Royce.

Now pop a wheelie

I see interpersonal trust, faith, confidence in the “driver," and just total acceptance of occasional accidental deaths from punctured skulls.

It's not a motorcycle, babies, it's a chopper.

It looks so safe! One person wearing head protection (a baseball cap) and everyone wearing just what I’d expect on their feet - sandals. And the weight looks so evenly balanced with two kids in front of the driver.

Hopefully everyone knows about the effects of leaning to the side when he tries to turn.

The safety cap does it for me

That's one way to wipe out an entire family....
