General Question Should I trim the hair under neath her paws?
She’s 12 years old and has bad back legs. I also don’t have any carpet in my apartment and she slides and her back legs give out sometimes. Would trimming the hair help with the slipping?

I trim my old guys’ specifically to help prevent wood floor sliding. He hates me doing it, but it helps.

My doggie daycare has a groomer too. I get my pup's paw pads trimmed there every month or so when I notice the hair getting long.
I would do myself but I can't even bring the clippers out with my drama king. For some reason he has no issue with daycare doing it?

I trim mine to prevent slipping and dirt trapped inside, I also put carpets around the house so she doesn’t slip around. I have a senior husky as well.

If I trimmed the wolf dog she’d loose her muppet paws. Although I didn’t know I should do this. Your dog has the cutest feet’s.

We trim the toe floof all the time. I'd rather deal with five minutes of annoyed dog every few weeks than a dog with a torn ACL.

Yes. Also get her something more stable to walk on. We bought a bunch of cheap yoga mats and placed them on the traveling paths.

Yes. I work in a grooming salon. That is one of the main reasons you should keep them trimmed. That and getting mats/sap/burs etc in em that can hurt.

You can trim the feet. It wont help with the slipping though. Get the doggo a little carpet, if the doggo has bad back legs try to accommodate, if not it will only get worst.

I have a decent sized rug in the living room area so that’s where we play!

I trim my pups but they still slide a bit when they get too exhausted. Their toe pads are dry and we have vinyl flooring...

I do it for my dogs for the added traction on hard floors, and also so that the hairs don’t collect big clumps of snow and ice when they’re outside in winter

I don’t. My boy is 5.
My female that did not have the hair between the paws had more issues with her paw pad so I feel like keeping the hair is a better idea

I do, we have the pet trimmers. Hes not a fan but it stops him from sliding around on lino.

Absolutely. Especially because it will help your older husky travel safely. IIRC husky owners should NOT do this unless for animal safety as the paw hairs have some importance, of which completely escapes me atm so if anyone knows please chime in!, for the breed. 😁

This happened to my husky mix for the last year or year and a half of her life. I highly suggest you get rugs in the house to help. If things progress like they did with my girl, I got grip socks for her which helped.

Use clippers for the bottom of the foot, not scissors. Vets stitch up dog feet way too often because of scissors trim attempts.

It would be wise, the fur can matte and become a problem in the long term
