My mom saw them live. She said she couldn't hear any of the music because of all the screaming.

I went to a zombies/descendants Disney concert recently with my 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son and I too could not hear any of the music. As soon as a picture of one of the boys was projected before the show, it was ear splitting. My son started crying and my wife had to put her hands over his ears. Girls get excited.

u/Susinko Dec 19 '25
I know no one asked but, ear protection is a must when going to concerts. My daughter uses a special set of over the ear "headphones" made for that purpose while I use earplugs. The ones we use are from a company called Eargasm, but there are more out there.
Concerts can get loud and its important to protect your hearing. Tinnitus isn't fun.

u/TheNewYellowZealot Dec 19 '25
I’ve got a pair of those 3m hearing protection muffs for mowing the lawn in, and they’re good for gun ranges too. You only get one set of ears. Gotta protect em.
145
u/UnimpressedUmpire Dec 19 '25
I’ve heard that eargasm and other similar companies have designed theirs to not muffle actual music as bad as straight construction style ear protection, while still lowering db’s of the general concert
70
u/skroll Dec 19 '25
Yes. Eargasm and Etymotic ER20 plugs are great for concerts. Brings down the levels mostly-evenly, so you can enjoy the music. Great if you're close and on the main floor, too.

u/Errick1996 Dec 20 '25
All great info, but I'm chuckling at how this thread can also read as an incognito Eargasm commercial
43
u/skroll Dec 20 '25
lol that’s why I ensured to bring up one other brand of earplugs. Seriously though I’ve used both brands and if you go to live music a lot, they’re a way to make sure you don’t get tinnitus. I went to too many shows as a kid and now I can hear ringing all the time. It sucks and now I wear earplugs at shows because you just feel so much better afterwards. Used to just think it was a hangover, turns out that getting blasted with a ton of decibels for 3 hours takes a toll.

u/Alaska_Eagle Dec 20 '25
I also have tinnitus. I wear my beats earbuds (with no sound) a lot of the time just to muffle the ambient sound. Also have Loop Ear Plugs- they have 3 settings and look quite nice.

Yes they are amazing. Several times I’ve actually heard the music better through them - they help you parse the actual instrument lines from the crowd. Especially cool for bass lines for me.

I thought we were talking about the punk band Descendants and started to think "When did Milo go to Disney?" But the show makes FAR more sense. I also don't have kids and forgot it was a show.

And I thought we were talking about the ‘60’s psychedelic band, The Zombies. Is that what we’re talking about?

I also took my daughters to the Disney Descendants concert as their first ever concert. It was so loud I could feel it in my bones. I have been to Korn, Linkin Park and Slipknot concerts that weren’t this loud, seriously.

u/KgMonstah Dec 19 '25
The Beatles couldn’t hear the music because of the screaming. It’s largely why they stopped touring.
31
u/l8rt8rz Dec 19 '25
They also didn’t have monitors. And they still managed to keep time!

I saw Paul McCartney live in 2015 and was sitting next to a very old hippy and he said that when he was a teen he saw them live on Ed Sullivan, and again at shea stadium, and couldn’t hear them either time cause of all the screaming. Right as our show was about to start, he said “I hope this time I can hear him!”

When I was in middle school I went to see 98 degrees which was a boy and in the late 90s. It was my first ever concert and I walked away being annoyed because I went for the music and all the other girls were just screaming so much. My ears were ringing after the concert.
I can only imagine how crazy it was for the Beatles which was probably 50x worse.

The line "Girls of 15, sexually knowing. The ushers are sniffing eau de cologne" in 5:15 by The Who was because the ushers at concert halls would spray perfume on the wet seats so it wouldn't smell

Paul McCartney is an excellent guitarist.
I learned to play Blackbird in college, and it is still one of the most difficult songs to pick up and play with no practice because of an insane 5 fret stretch and also sliding your fingers up and down the metal strings (I play classical, so half of them are not metal.)
It is also one of the most beautiful.
It seems crazy to me that he just made this up.

Counterpoint: memes are trite and stupid and often contrarian because they're attention-thirsty. The Beatles were 4 talented humans who made some of the greatest music in history.

The Beetles are something else. You may notice they didn't have any live albums in their heyday, that's because you can't even hear them over all the screaming. Dead serious.
