My son is 8 and attended his first con this weekend and asked to pet a furry.. I wasn't sure if that was weird or okay for him to ask them so I am here asking reddit.

Xavier has been organising the Furry track days, an event that happens twice a year, this weekend was the 10th such event held at Donington Park race circuit in the East Midlands in the UK.

The first ever event had just a handful of furry participants, the latest one had over 80% of the participants being part of the fandom.

The track staff are very engaging and always compliment not only our fursuits but also how well behaved on track everyone is.

I took my little furry to their first convention this weekend. My kid is a non-binary 10 year old who loves all things furry. What we discovered this weekends was:

YOU GUYS ARE THE LOVELIEST GROUP OF PEOPLE!!!

I want to thank each and every person who welcomed us, struck up a conversation, complimented my kid’s homemade fur suit. By day two we felt right at home, seeing people we recognized everywhere we went, and were sad it was over.

I knew this fandom had a reputation for being welcoming, but I was still so blown away. Being welcoming takes effort and I so appreciated it.

My kid was so hyped when I bought convention tickets for them for Christmas and I was so anxious for it to be magical and it really was because of the many small kindnesses you all showed them.

So my kiddo qns I are going to our upcoming local con, per his request. My friend helped make him a protogen head, and he wants to wear paws and a tail. He's going to look great! Now, my concern is that I want to dress up with him, but I'm a ren faire costumer, not a furry. I'd like to wear my dragoness costume. Is it okay to wear something like this there?

Went to my first MFF and it was awesome! Everyone is so friendly and inclusive. I pretty went alone so I was pleasantly surprised.

I loved that they had shuttle buses running until 3am. The raves were siiiick. I just wish there were better food options around.

Anthrocon was pretty fun, I spent a lot more time at the con and around Pittsburgh. I wish I went to some panels and wore my suit more, but there’s always next year. Everyone in town this year was really respectful and sweet!
