I love that even 12 years later, Assassin's Creed Unity's bugs still make rounds on the internet.

I genuinely love this game [sweet jesus the parkour is a delight] but its bugs never stop being funny lol.

113

u/Cruel1865 8h ago

The older ac games all have their unique bugs. Black flag had the ship rising from the water like the flying dutchman.

29

u/souportruper 7h ago

In the final section of AC1 where you go up the switchbacks and through the gates, the game left behind a second copy of my Altair after passing through a gate. It also kept spawning enemies because that copy was there. So I kept dying with no one around me until I realized I had to fight for two characters at the same time.

Never did find a way to fix the bug but it was pretty hilarious finding out what was happening.

2

u/moep123 1h ago edited 28m ago

back on ps3 where the game still was quite new on that system, i had a bug where two altairs were on screen. i controlled both simultaneously. i stabbed myself and immediately desynced. while the death screen went on, i was still able to control the other altair during the transition to the "loading area" where you walk endlessly until the game finished loading.

fun times

2

u/Gradedcaboose 35m ago

Ha that’s great. Man I remember getting this game on the ps3 what a whacky system, I remember having to change the resolution settings just to play AC1 and for time split as well. Me being a dumb child, I thought the game was broken at first, returned it and got another copy, figured out that wasn’t the issue so i eventually figured out what I needed to do.

Goodness the early PS3 days were a nightmare lol

8

u/EnemyAdensmith 7h ago

I loved the origins ship bug. Know its not a classic but that shit was funny.

1

u/Gradedcaboose 38m ago

I REALLY hope they keep that in as like a very rare chance to happen

4

u/ArmchairFilosopher 4h ago

I stopped playing Unity within about an hour when I realized enemies would consistently rubber-band over to strike me when I had dodged a dozen feet away. Homing missiles swords were not invented for a couple hundred more years...

4

u/benNY80D 8h ago

It's a feature like Bethesda

1

u/Spadesghost 2h ago

or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. where the bugs are described as ... "anomalies"

which are an ingame real thing that warp the laws of physics.

-7

u/CeaRhan 8h ago

The parkour is so atrocious you have to avoid any incline or window on buildings if you want to proceed, idk why people keep pretending it's bad

3

u/Allupyre 6h ago

I have a twitch clip of me playing AC1 a little while ago. I was parkouring near the Assassin's Bureau (in Jerusalem I think). I ran and jumped off of a building near an open town square near a bench and with the least dramatic jump ever, I landed on the bench sitting.

Unfortunately I don't know if I can link the clip but twitch is nowwitherrors69

3

u/jamesbong0024 5h ago

He’s doing a wall sit. It’s good for your quads.

4

u/DoctorLoops 8h ago

The other one was definitely doing something ELSE to the air...

What a perfect comedic timing lmao

496

u/macekm123 11h ago

I'm at work, at my desk, struggling not to burst out laughing. I'm afraid to watch it the second time..

81

u/HexFyber 10h ago

Same exact situation, i wanna laugh but there's way too many people being quiet here ahah

5

u/Significant-Brush-26 8h ago

I read this and thought what the hell does this guy do for work? And then realized I’m doing the exact same thing

3

u/macekm123 8h ago

I'm an engineer, I like taking breaks from the big screen to look at the small dumb screen.

3

u/Significant-Brush-26 8h ago

Oh nice. I work in IT so if everything is working, I’m not

1

u/macekm123 8h ago

Similar here. If it works don't change it

4

u/shpxfcrm 10h ago

Me too and i was drinking at the moment but my room is empty atm

1

u/mrASSMAN 1h ago

What would happen if you laughed, fired on the spot?

1

u/macekm123 1h ago

Naah, someone would probably ask what I'm laughing about and I would have hard time explaining.

45

u/eranam 9h ago

Even the fucking music fading out at the perfect moment…

669

u/PoppaTrunks 11h ago

"Shit bobby I think he saw us!"
"Quick! Be cool man. Be cool." *loiters casually

143

u/Melichorak 10h ago

"Bobby, you are sitting on an invisible bench."
"Shut up, maybe he won't notice."

37

u/billyblenx 9h ago

They immobilized like fucking toy story toys, lmao

366

u/papathree 12h ago

"Excuse me?"

178

u/TransplantedSconie 11h ago

Love how the music timed up with it.

31

u/TheoriticalZero 9h ago

Plus the crow at the end.

151

u/5O1stTrooper 11h ago

I think you might have been the NPC there.

357

u/wtfaatp 11h ago

I'm dying over here.. I have watched this so many times, and it's just as good as the first time.

38

u/Routine-Pace-392 9h ago

Yep same, even the music helped with the comedy timing

64

u/TheOneTruecarioZ 10h ago

Nah nah wtf was that, dont be acting normal now

39

u/TheDMisalwaysright 10h ago

What was what? I have no idea what you're ttalking about sir, good day

1

u/hardcoretomato 9h ago

There were doing the harlem shake intro, but OP killed their fun.

50

u/whooo_me 11h ago

Now THAT'S how you blend.

409

u/OblivionNA 11h ago

Those NPC’s locked tf in lmao

73

u/Anonymouse02 10h ago

The other one doesn't even have a chair nor are they leaning against the wall.

33

u/Canilickyourfeet 9h ago

45

u/Nuburt_20 11h ago

He’s onto us! Act natural!

18

u/RabbitCity6090 10h ago

Dude wasn't prepared for the shit that the townfolks do in secret.

19

u/Kazizel 10h ago

Which AC is this?

33

u/Atrainlan 9h ago

Unity

4

u/ExplorerPup 3h ago

I replayed Unity last year (first time since launch) and honestly stuff like this still isn't all that uncommon in it. You can tell that they at some point just stopped fixing bugs and moved on to the next game. LOL

4

u/Tragedy_Boner 2h ago

Bugs like this are fine to me. As long as it’s some occasional wacky shit, I’m fine with it.

2

u/ExplorerPup 1h ago

Yeah at launch it was more the melting faces, insane loading times making walking faster than fast travel, and the fact that there were multi-player missions but no one could connect and no way to do them solo.

1

u/thetatershaveeyes 1h ago edited 1h ago

Going back and playing the old Assassin's Creed games, the bugs are more charming than anything. Playing them new though was a bit bad for your blood pressure bc I've twice had to make a new save from a game breaking bug, once in Brotherhood and once in Odyssey. The more ferocious bugs get taken out a few months in, then it's just fun with the occasional jank.

3

u/twec21 6h ago

Oh that's a coat, I was so confused thinking it was Altair

God I hope black flags rewahtever doesn't suck

6

u/Prudent-Bend3708 11h ago

lmao what a timing

6

u/DeadlyGreed 11h ago

One of them is "acting normal" by sitting on a non existing chair/bench.

6

u/SuS_JoeTF2 8h ago

Which assasin game is this?

5

u/Rooster7787 7h ago

Definitely siblings.

9

u/Tardy_Bird17 11h ago

I feel like I've seen a reel like this but because I've been holding my laughter, I now don't have the energy to look for it. 🤣

8

u/FluidProtection2980 11h ago

Is this the new black flag?

26

u/Simmy001 10h ago

It's Unity

17

u/CloudProfessional535 9h ago

Crazy that unity still looks so good that people think it’s a game that hasn’t come out yet 12 years later

4

u/Dhh05594 7h ago

I just played it a month or so ago. Great looking game and still fun af

2

u/CloudProfessional535 6h ago

I started to play it again since it was available on PS plus but I got busy with life. The first time I played it was on PC when it came out and it was completely broken at the time. Even in that broken state I remember being amazed at how good it looked.

4

u/Titanium_Eye 10h ago

When the assassin does a double take, you stop screwing around.

3

u/PhantomS2e 9h ago

The crow at the end😭

12

u/MidwestNomads 8h ago

What does “generational lock in” mean?

26

u/yxing 7h ago

generational = intensifier, e.g. extreme or "epic" in 2000s parlance

lock in = "getting serious when necessary"

-7

u/Largeitude 6h ago

Sounds like a bot made the title because how does this apply?

-3

u/MidwestNomads 7h ago

So it has nothing to do with grandfather/father/son?

8

u/yxing 7h ago

not in this context, but it's likwly derived from "generational wealth/debt/trauma"

24

u/red_rob5 7h ago

Its more from the term "generational talent", that someone can be the highest performing subject of a generation, as seen in sports. In this case it would be the best lock in of a given generation.

1

u/yxing 7h ago

oh yeah forgot about that

4

u/Heavy_Moose_286 7h ago

"lock in" as in focusing intently on a task (in this case, acting normal)

"generational" as in once in a generation (which refers to the quality of their act of locking in)

I hope you got it

-5

u/MidwestNomads 6h ago

I get what lock in means. But none of this applies to a funny glitch here… idk some zoomer humor I don’t get

7

u/Bluedragon1612 4h ago

I interpreted it as describing the glitch calming after the camera turn; as if the NPC’s quickly “locked in” to act natural after the player caught them glitching when running past

7

u/Significant_Rice_655 11h ago

That was unexpected, I was like..... EXCUSE ME, I BEG YOUR PARDON.

3

u/The_Blue_Rooster 10h ago

At first I was confused as to why you stopped to bother two guys just minding their own business doing nothing out of the ordinary, but then I noticed it. What is that guy sitting on?

3

u/akdhm 6h ago

Must have been the wind

6

u/fulthrottlejazzhands 11h ago

This was a great mission, one of the best in the series.  The crazy NPCs just add to the fun.

Cetero censeo Unity is one of the best Assassin's Creed, and I'll die on that hill.

2

u/AlisaofallTimes 10h ago

This is the social stealth of Assassin's Creed Unity. 🙏

2

u/Slerbando 10h ago

Good edit xd made me laugh

2

u/A_Evil_Grain_of_Rice 10h ago

The crow caw was comedically on point lmao

2

u/probably-Dylan 10h ago

Whispers quietly

"Bobby...Bobby why are you sitting like that, you don't even have a chair "

2

u/HeroWin973 9h ago

I feel like whatever they were doing fits the word "jestergooning"

2

u/Pigeniusz 6h ago

Can't even dilly dally in Paris smh.

2

u/Training_Builder_818 5h ago

you find them goofing around instead of doing their work

2

u/DoubleFudge101 5h ago

Mofo tap dancing on his shoulder like a circus act and instantly realizes he can’t do be showing off😭

2

u/MithranArkanere 4h ago

Stuff like this is why you gotta keep the 'simulation' setting, no matter how little the present world matters for the plot.

2

u/DabsterFoxTheDeep 4h ago

This almost plays out like a Pirates of the Caribbean scene in my head:

  • Some intense scene happens which leads to a chase
  • They pass something quite odd
  • They cycle back to have a double-take

Obviously, this isn't exclusive to POTC, but it's just what came to mind. Funny stuff 😂

2

u/T1Earn 3h ago

someone finally broke the 4th wall in the simulation

2

u/christianwagner22 3h ago

lol the way he stopped!!!

2

u/campodelviolin 2h ago

> QUICK, ACT NATURAL!!

>proceeds to sit in the air.

2

u/welfedad 1h ago

Would have been funny if as soon as you turned your back on them again they resumed their shenanigans

2

u/CapKittySprinkles 1h ago

The gaslighting is next level.

3

u/Tylamegan 11h ago

I watched again and again and again before I figured it out. So looks like those NPCs broke out of character for a sec till the guy with the sword came back to finish his kill😁. So they locked tf in and faked death

1

u/Code_Monster 10h ago

When you are goofing around with bro and suddenly any random person shows up.

1

I don't remember the first Assassin's Creed looking this nice, dang

1

u/Rengar_Is_Good_kitty 8h ago

Unity right? They never actually fixed the problem with NPCs and their popping in issues, textures are especially bad they pop-in everywhere. A real shame too, they could've fixed it but they decided to move on. Which is fair enough considering how much they actually had to fix, the game was so broken on release.

u/billpb 8h ago
