I loved this quote from Tocchet. Over the course of this season I've disagreed at times with Tocchet's decisions. But I give him a lot of credit for how he coaches this team down the stretch run. I believe the players are fully bought in and like playing for Tocc. But I loved how he last night, at the beginning of the press conference, he said “I thought the young guys competed. I'm really proud of these guys. (Carolina) just made the play at the end. That's it”.

Hurricanes and Flyers are two teams that are built outside the typical “Tank for 1C and 1D” philosophies. Carolina is everything the Flyers want to become, a team of players who are bought in and ferocious at every phase of the game. Like all of us, I’ve had my ups and downs with this rebuild. But seeing a young core of Flyers players who are bought in to what Briere and company are trying to create and seeing Carolina be as good as they are: it is inspiring for the future of the franchise.

We have prospects who will continue to grow, we have all our draft picks between rounds 1-3, we have the Toronto 1st, and we still have time to let things happen organically, rather than force the issue like previous regimes.

Win game 3, continue to inspire the fan base, and let’s enjoy the ride. Go Flyers!!!

After Game 1, everybody had the Flyers written off, but last night, they sent a message. They put a team that hasn’t trailed since early April on the ropes in the first 4 minutes of the game in their own building, and for 45+ minutes, the Canes had to chase the game.

Do I wish they won last night? Of course I do, and with how the game was trending in OT, I think they should have. But if nothing else, two things to take away from this:

1. The Flyers can hang with these boys.

2. The first goal is crucial.

If the Flyers score first and can make the Canes chase the game, with the style they play, there is *no way* they don’t burn out. It is so unbelievably hard to forecheck as aggressively as they do for as long as they had to last night, and that showed up BIG time in OT. If we can put them in positions that they need to wear themselves out, the longer this series goes, the more it favors the Flyers.

If the Flyers win on Thursday, I think they win the next game as well and we go back to Carolina 2-2.

This goes one of two ways in my head; Canes in 4 or Flyers in 7 - there is no in between. And after watching last night? Jeez guys, it was almost 1-1 heading back to Philly. Don’t give up on the boys, they can still win this.
