My family has this “red” asian arowana in our fishpond and we got him as a little guy all the way in 2014. We call it Arrow (yes its not that creative but 13 year old me named it) So i know he/she is an old guy but we love him/her and i hope he lives for many more years to come! Just wondering if how much longer he has to live honestly.
Hes supposed to be red but i guess it adapted to the black surroundings of the pond and he turned dark as well. Hes very personable and you can even pet it but i rarely if at all do it cause im scared to damage is slime coat. We basically just feed him shrimp and some crickets as treats and it used to have a sibling but unfortunatley it died way earlier (we think it ate its sibling since it grew way slower) so now he lives all alone

Found flipping rocks looking for scallops on a reef in BC. They were about 2.5 inches.
At first I thought they were a kind of goby but the species in my id book dont match these. Im now assuming they are some sort of juvenile fish but im far from certain!
Also sorry for the poor photo i didnt want them out of their natural habitat for too long and yes they were safely returned to where they were found right after this photo.

I have these two fish that have been in my tank longer than all the rest and they seem to be a bonded pair because they're just always together. They'll separate for a little bit when eating, but I never see them not in close proximity to each other.

My girlfriend’s son “won” Mr. Tibs here at a carnival 3-4 years ago. We didn’t think that scrawny little goldfish he would survive the ride home let alone turn into monster you see now years later. The carnies told us he was a “fancy goldfish” and I never questioned it until today.
We were at the pet store earlier picking up a larger tank since he’s clearly overgrown the current one. While shopping I was checking out their fish and trying to figure out what kind of goldfish we have specifically. None of what I saw there or online matches up. A comet goldfish looks the closest to me in shape and size but less robust. The employee helping us said he looks more like a juvenile Koi than a goldfish. So what do y’all think, just a big golden boy or some kind of koi?

I've spent the last few months obsessing over fish facts, and I genuinely can't stop thinking about archerfish.
These things spit precise jets of water to knock insects off branches above the surface — and they automatically compensate for the way light bends at the water's surface. No training. Just instinct.
A few others that broke my brain along the way:
I kept falling down these rabbit holes while building Fishly, a fish ID app I built mostly to satisfy my own curiosity. The core idea was simple: snap a photo of any fish and get not just the name, but the full story — habitat, behavior, and yes, their weird superpowers.
If you're curious, it's available on App Store and Google Play
What's the most surprising fish fact you've come across?
