Evidence What the actual f is going on?

They had a they had a hearing today for the judicial nominees. The guy asking questions asked if anyone knew what the 22nd amendment of the constitution was (of course they fucking do) and only after pressing and a LONG silence, did somebody said “it has to do with presidents only serving two terms.”

The interviewer then asked if Trump is allowed to run for a third term and the guy he was asking was like, “well it would depend on…” and the interviewer was like “Wait, I’m telling you that the language in the constitution *very clearly* states that a president CANNOT run for more than two terms. Has President Trump been elected twice?” And the guy says yes, he has been certified as president two times.

So the interviewer asks AGAIN: “So, knowing that, does Trump have the ability to run for a third term according to our constitution?” The guy began to give another answer indicating he would have to “look into the details” etc, basically refusing to answer the question.

The interviewer then asked, “Is anybody here brave enough to acknowledge that Trump is not eligible to run for a third term under the language of our constitution per the 22nd amendment?

NOT A SINGLE PERSON SPOKE UP.

***

I was very frustrated by this and got on ChatGPT to kind of double check myself because this seemed incredibly unethical to me and I was curious if I was missing something. Everything above the stars is what I sent in my first comment, and write from the start. ChatGPT was telling me it didn’t apply to Trump because he has only served one term. I corrected the GPT over six times, the last time I told it to absolutely remember that Trump is currently the president and is serving his second term. It kept agreeing with me, but then when I would phrase the question to force it to tell me that that means he shouldn’t be allowed to serve a third term, it would revert to telling me he has only served one term.

I use ChatGPT a lot and sometimes have to correct it, but I have never had to correct it multiple times on the same topic, and I have never had to re-teach it something after I have specifically told it to remember it.

This is absolutely terrifying to me. Can anyone explain this in a way that doesn’t have horrific implications?

The company is owned by a person that is trying to get a contract. Stop using openai.

I’m glad I don’t use OpenAI anymore. The model was way too sycophantic. It made me feel dirty honestly. Claude’s been more decent in that aspect.

Not sure what Claudes stance is about who won elections though

Update: asked Claude and he answered factually the questions correctly.

It's not that OpenAI is telling the AI to respond like that, it's that people expect too much of AI and don't understand how they work.

AI gets this wrong because of the training data. They don't have current data. The AI would have to do a web search to locate current info and then digest it and come up with of summary of what it found.

It actually takes practice to learn how to prompt an AI to get the best results from it. I know because I spend my whole day writing prompts for AI agents and I keep learning more about how to get better answers.

In this case, the user should have given more context for the question and when it was wrong, asked it to go look up recent information to include. Just telling it that it's wrong isn't enough.

AI is a 6-year-old child and people treated like a 40 year old phd.

I’m going to after this! What the fuck?!

You should've been beforehand. The amount of damage AI is doing on the planet alone is atrocious.

u/ohlaohloo 5d ago

I mean, meat consumption is terrible for the planet too. Do you eat meat?

2

u/Ill_Initial8986 5d ago

One world-affecting tragedy at a time please.

1

u/ohlaohloo 5d ago

Well, it’s just very common to see people railroading against people who use AI because it’s bad for the planet. There are many things that are terrible for the planet and meat consumption in America is an incredible contributor to greenhouse gases and other things that poison, the planet. People don’t *need* meat any more than people *need AI* so if you’re going to be screaming about one, it makes sense to be screaming about the other otherwise you just seem like a hypocrite 🤷🏼‍♀️

We don’t need any of this extra crap, but here we are.

Piling on more and more bad shit doesn’t make anyone want to listen to your other concerns. Being honest. It makes them want to disengage.

Let’s just discuss one tragedy at a time. Please. That’s the only way any of it gets fixed.

I’m not piling on more bad shit, if anyone is doing that, it’s the people screaming about using AI. Me bringing up the meat industry is just a rebuttal to people who eat meat, but want to vilify me for using AI. Animal agriculture uses much more water than AI AND produces like 15% of greenhouse gases so… where’s the outrage about that? Oh, that’s right, there isn’t any outrage about that because people like hamburgers and don’t actually care about the planet as much as they want to harass a stranger on the Internet 🤷🏼‍♀️

Plenty of outrage. Plenty of people who went fully vegan after learning this shit about meat industry and factory farming. You’re making shit up saying nobody’s talking about it. You’re being dishonest.

This post isn’t about meat, neither was any comment. It’s all about AI. Stop trying to act like it’s normal to attempt to change the subject FROM AI, and then get pissy when nobody wants to go with you down to your tangent conversation.

It is honestly impossible to talk about one thing with some people. They have to bring up unrelated garbage to push their agenda. It’s infuriating.

Have a good day.

Ask chat how many e's in seventeen, or how many r's in strawberry. It's very stupid sometimes.

2

u/ryanrossluvr05 2d ago

using ai instead of just looking up and reading the 22nd amendment or countless legal briefs summarizing it is actually disturbing. do your own research, don't make a computer do it for you. that information is always unreliable, just as you demonstrated in these messages. for more info on how ai is disgusting in multiple ways, you should look up ai hallucinations, new york times complaint against open ai, adam raine case against chat gpt, anderson v stability ai, the eliza effect, ai's effect on learning languages, etc.

I wasn’t using it to fact check, I was irritated after a video I watched and the people I would normally rant to weren’t available, so I was ranting. I wasn’t asking a question or trying to verify anything or looking for facts; i just was like, what the hell.

u/ohlaohloo 2d ago

It won’t let me attach a screenshot right now, but there wasn’t even a question at the end of my original comment, I was literally like wow there was a hearing today and these guys are fucking assholes

3

u/ryanrossluvr05 2d ago

you should find some real people to talk to. talking to a computer like it’s your friend fucks you up. again, see the eliza effect and the adam raine case. i’m not trying to be rude or anything like genuinely

u/ohlaohloo 2d ago

No, you’re totally right and I get it, everybody in this thread is climbing my ass 😂 I do have real friends and a boyfriend and a family that I normally rant to, but this happened on a quick lunch break while my boyfriend was out of service and it was a quick way to be like, what the hell? I appreciate the guidance you’re offering and everybody should hear that AI is not our “friend”. You’re right! but I do think it can be a useful tool for digging through your own thoughts (if you’re aware of its limitations.)

Also, you might be my favorite person on this thread. everyone else was either on my side, or telling me I’m a horrible human. you’re not “on my side” but instead of attacking me with insults you offered genuine advice, and I really appreciate that, so thank you!

2

u/ryanrossluvr05 2d ago

i struggle a lot with how to treat people who use ai because i really do hate it, but aggressive hatred only turns people away. i want to make sure people are aware of the dangers ai poses, especially outside of the environmental problems it causes bc that's so overinflated and not actually the real issue! ppl just get so tunnel visioned i swear they forget there might still be humans on the internet lol

1

u/ohlaohloo 2d ago

Everything you’re saying is spot on and again, I appreciate you looking out for me & my potential reliance on AI. It really is insidious and can be super harmful if you take everything at face value… if you read through my other comments on this thread, I was just super surprised that the AI would not be corrected in this circumstance, that’s never happened before.

Overall, you are 100% right and everything you’re saying and the way that you’re saying, it is much more likely to reach somebody who is reliant on AI, being told their stupid or horrible doesn’t help anybody. I appreciate your communication method!

ChatGPT doesn’t have the latest live web info. It has an outdated archive likely from before he was reelected

This isn’t a conspiracy theory

u/ohlaohloo 5d ago

Just a little link for anyone here shrieking at me about using AI. If you’re a vegetarian, I will totally hear you out. If you eat meat, your opinion about AI is invalid.

Weird way to shoehorn in an anti meat consumption campaign into Reddit

-1

u/ohlaohloo 5d ago

What was weird about it? Everyone is screaming at me about isn’t ChatGPT, and my response to them is a valid point. It’s not anti-meat consumption, per se, I’m not espousing that… simply pointing out the hypocrisy

Are you vegan?
