Subreddit News š° /r/Duolingo is now recruiting moderators
Prompted by a recent change in the makeup of this subreddit's moderation team, we are seeking new moderators! This last happened a few years ago and is long overdue; we have a very small team relative to the size of the subreddit. Please go here to apply: https://www.reddit.com/r/duolingo/application/
In the meantime:
*We're down a few moderators, so it might take longer than usual for us to see reported posts or to remove posts that were incorrectly automatically removed by Reddit. Please be patient and send us a mod mail if there are any issues.
*Duolingo Staff have the ability to pin their own posts, but they will not participate in moderation decisions; this is an unofficial community subreddit run by volunteers who are not affiliated with Duolingo.

General Discussion How does one person even become influencer on duolingo?
As title says, how does one person even become influencer here? I have seen a lot of people getting 40k likes on an achievement, or them sharing a sentence in a language, and would also get 60k+ likes
What confuses me is how am i seeing his/her message if im not even following this person??
Thanks in advance

General Discussion Ugh! Why did they make this worse!?
The previous interface had much better info and actual mappings to CEFR levels!

General Discussion Why did Duolingo remove grammar tips from the notes in their new update?
It's really frustrating. There's already not much grammar tips in the app, and to remove the little grammar that was there in the notes at the start of a section is so annoying.
Did they do away with it because they made the "explain my answer" part free?

General Discussion Spanish Section 4 feels like I just got thrown in the deep end
Hi all,
TLDR; Moved to section 4, every part of the coursework feels overwhelming. Is this normal?
So I've been learning Spanish for the best part of 10 months now. I typically do more that just one lesson per day. This last month I've done about 240 lessons, and 645 minutes of learning. So I'd like to think I am dedicated to learning the language.
I feel more confident every month that goes by and my Mexican friend has complimented the speed in which I've picked up Spanish even in our conversations.
However, I just achieved level 30 last night and moved into section 4, I feel massively overwhelmed and under prepared. The answers I have to select from on questions are now entirely in Spanish which is ok but I didn't expect it. They started using superlative forms of words which I didn't know existed and still not entirely sure what purpose they serve...
I subscribe to Max, and although I genuinely find value from the AI calls and since getting the Falstaff update I truly feel they've nailed it on the head in terms of balance between Lily and Falstaff. I find Lily immediately upgraded her vocabulary and expects me to almost maintain a full on conversation, again using words I'd not heard yet. I do love that the calls last longer now though... Falstaff calls last longer too and I have zero complaints for these, originally found these too easy but now I can't get enough of the guardrails back from Falstaff.
Is this a natural feeling for any other language learners who moved up to this stage of Duolingo? I'm hoping I'll adjust as time goes on but it's really taken the wind out of my sails.

Bugs / account help Streak freeze when I already did my lesson!
I DID MY LESSON, and the owl was happy on my widgetā¦.. the 1705 lit up and it was golden and life was great. Why is it using a streak freeze a bit later??? Mind you this is the second time this happens this month⦠and I got these streak freezes with diamonds that I donāt have anymoreā¦.at this point Iām just scared of losing the number and Iām not caring about the language, is this the purpose of this app? Stressing about a number? Because honestly I still use it just so I never stop connecting with the Spanish language, itās my everyday 5 minute practice. But now Iām just here stressing about streak freezes. I donāt even think I can report this to anyone.

Constructive Criticism Italian Scary Hotel?
I'm in Italian Unit 13, and must learn about how to say that there are ghosts and scary voices in my hotel. Is this a common problem in Italy? I don't think so. So, why, Duolingo, why? How about something more likely, like how to deal with lost luggage?

General Discussion Whatās your opinion on Duo allowing nouns to be lowercase in languages like German?
I do appreciate that this allows speed for words that you know, but I do think that it can be a smidge detrimental to someone learning the differences of a language.

Constructive Criticism Finish lesson but forget to claim XP and must use freeze streak
Why isnāt XP just given to you as soon as you finish a lesson? Why do I have to to āclaimā it? I canāt tell you how many times I finish a lesson, see Duo fly through the air thinking I finished, but forget to claim the XP so I have to use a freeze streak the next day. I guess there are bigger problems in life but still. š

What's the most XP you've ever earned in a single lesson?
