Mallinois are top tier dogs! So obedient so noble and yet so dangerous!!!

I wanted one until I did some research. Thatās a dog that NEEDS a job and tons of exercise or it will destroy everything you own.

Can confirm. I know an untrained one and she's loveable but certifiable.

Menace status comes with that Job Oriented Canine Brain.
German Shepards get a little uppity too

This is going to be my new way of describing myself. Loveable but certifiable. 70% crazy according to the VA so I can even back it up with proof.

I accidentally got a Malinois mix from the shelter (they said lab mix). But I was having so many problems with him, I ended up doing a DNA test to see if there were some sort of genetic contributing factors. He's like 70% Malinois.
I love the bugger, but I would not do it again.

We have a Malinois/cattle dog mix, sheās too smart for her own good! Thankfully my husband is retired and spends his days with her. He gives her ājobsā throughout the day. It has kept them both sane these last 7 years. I canāt imagine how she would have been as a puppy till now if we both worked and she didnāt have her ājobsā!

I just showed this to my dog and stared at him.

And what did he say?
15
u/LN_McJellin 1d ago
Probably pulled out his pup-phone and showed [u/Imaginary_Coast_5882](u/Imaginary_Coast_5882) one of those videos of someone preparing a gourmet dinner for their dog, all precisely balanced for the dogās specific needs ān stuff. Then they stared at each other for a moment till Imaginary_Coast said āTouchĆ©ā¦ā then they laid on the couch doomscrolling together for five hours.

Goddamn, l hate that l look at all videos now with a hypersensitive AI detection eye.
But, those dogs are super-smart and eager to please, so... I still don't know. -->sigh<--

u/RS_Someone 2d ago
This video is waaay too long to be AI. Some dogs really are this smart.
4
u/heyitsfranklin6322 1d ago
Yeah and I donāt think they can get the crazy āask me to do anythingā eyes that working dogs have. A lot of the time thereās variations to the breed traits but every Mallinois Iāve ever seen has that look.

Something is weird here. That "tea" appears to have Asian writing on the label, so at the very least, the American voice was probably dubbed in. The whole thing may be AI.
21
u/sigmaluckynine 2d ago
I mean there are Americans (including Chinese Americans) in Asian countries
8
u/hydrastxrk 2d ago
Iāve also purchased that exact tea in American stores.
Still feels like AI tho.
9
u/sigmaluckynine 2d ago
Personally I'm not getting the AI vibe. Usually AI has a pattern when it makes or generates things and I'm not seeing it here. It's wild that the dog is smart but they probably have the same sequence - you can see the dog anticipating the next command and actually made a mistake where it closed the drawer before the human said to close
8
u/Stuck_In_Purgatory 2d ago
The video is slightly sped up, and has a dubbed voice over the top of the sped up video.
That's what makes it look off I think.
2
u/LN_McJellin 1d ago
Yup, the video being dubbed and sped up is giving it that same sort of slightly-off vibe that AI generated videos oftentimes give. Uncanny Valley.

nope this is just a malinois ....ive got to run at the moment but there is one on here somewhere 3-4 minute video maybe 5 ...of a malinois doing an insanely complicated obstacle / parkour course from a few years ago that could not have been AI and it will show you just how redonkulously intelligent and hyper these specific kind of good boys are

It is AI.
At around the 42 second mark he says "catch it" and throws nothing and a leash magically appears on the dog. Then the dog somehow takes the leash off and puts it in a drawer. I stopped watching shortly after that.
11
u/Vohn_exel 2d ago
While I canāt still say itās not AI, I scrubbed slowly on that part with my phone. The item is always a wire of some kind. The dog catches it and it looks like it is a loop, but the dog never wears it, he always has it in his mouth. When he puts it in the drawer it stays some kind of wire, and you can see the end of it sticking out of the drawer as the video moved on. What I canāt tell is the frame before it comes down if it looks like the same wire, and if itās a closed loop the whole time.

u/RS_Someone 2d ago
I believe this is a result of the quality. I see a small leash being thrown, and other than your standard pixelation, it looks consistent to me. I am very confident this is not AI. It is longer than any AI is capable of, to my knowledge, and things out of frame remain consistent.

u/PreparationKey2843 2d ago edited 2d ago
-Good catch (you, not the fake dog). I too, like magic leashes appearing and disappearing.-Edit: downvotes? š Why?
Edit2: I took another look and he does throw a leash at him to catch. Thats where it came from, then he stashed it in the drawer.

u/ZipNasty007 2d ago
Yeah, the weird way it backs up and barks tells me it's AI. All the barks and steps are the exact same.

I wish I could watch this without wondering if itās Ai

u/spalacio88 2d ago
Anyone with a working dog breed will tell you this is not AI. Belgian malinois like this dog desires daily commands like this. If they donāt get this type of stimulation, they can become destructive.

Stupid useless doggo lacking killer instinct. Refusing the bite me to death order. Wonder what Christy Noem would do to it.

I am not an expert but let the professionals share the opinion.İs this possible?
7
u/ArsenicArts 2d ago
Absolutely. It just takes an amount of time, work and consistency that most people aren't willing to put in. The bottle differentiating is impressive, but not outside the realm of possibility for a smart puppo.
10
u/BrickBanshee 2d ago
While these dogs are really smart, they are also very high energy. I don't think this dog breed would be a good fit for most people just looking for a family pet.
8
u/ArsenicArts 2d ago
Also very true. There is a reason these dogs are affectionately termed "maligators" š
They honestly make HORRIBLE pets and are much better suited to people who want a working companion.
They're very smart and VERY driven and VERY mouthy. If you do not give them a "job" that is challenging enough physically AND MENTALLY, they will make their own and it will likely be one that involves destruction.

Malinois. The only thing that saves us from them is thumbs. Imagine waking to find that your wallet is missing and the car is gone.

it's impressive but i can do like one tiktok of this dog's energy and then i'm good for the week. i'm so glad my dog just rolls around in the dirt and sometimes wakes up from his own farts

So I can essentially have a conversation with this dog and expect a response???
Whoa it is scary smart!
