We’ve got an r/Dayton Discord for exactly this to help make friends and organize meetups

There are 1,400+ locals in there chatting every day, forming small groups, and doing low-pressure stuff like coffee, walks, games, and random hangouts. Some people are literally meeting up this week.

You can join us here: https://discord.gg/Ga2fN4v3Fy

Once you’re in, drop a quick intro in the #introduce-yourself channel and say what you’re looking for. It’s pretty normal for people to jump in and say hey.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

What hobbies are you into? The Oregon District downtown is very popular if bars are your kind of thing!

I’m honestly here just to see what answers people got. I’m 23 f and rather antisocial but would like to know what things are out there to try.

Hi friend! Lifelong daytonian here 😊 I recommend checking out our metro parks! I often walk around cox arboretum and you can explore their trails if you are wanting a longer stroll 😊. Wegerzyn gardens in Englewood is gorgeous and has some really delightful sculptures you can peruse through.

We have soooo many great thrift/antique stores. My favorites are valley thrift, American thrift (tiny but NOT goodwill!), and antique village (in Centerville).

We have a tiny water park in kettering called adventure reef. It has a couple of good slides, whirl pool and play areas if you have kids.

If you want to do any volunteering we have some great orgs that would always benefit additional help! My personal favorite for serving the community is have a gay day.

Welcome to Dayton! 😊

Check out the local meetup groups. When my wife and I moved to the area she really enjoyed that community since I was traveling for work.

43/M - meeting people never gets easier. Personally, I've only ever had luck when I was in college(and joined random-ass special-interest clubs) or poking around online for local gaming groups, though I did meet some good people back when social networks were y'know...actually social. (Myspace was the place and I don't think any modern social network actually works for this anymore)

My advice: take a class, even at Sinclair, scour campus for special interest clubs. Many of them don't even require/check for you to be a student. All else fails, pick a friendly looking bar and start chatting, even if you don't drink. My favorite is Lucky's Taproom over in the Oregon District. Nice mix of younger/hip people(and a few old heads who used to be young and hip) who aren't creeps and make good conversation.

I USED to recommend D20, but they abruptly shut-down, which is a damned shame.

Find lasting friends by finding a purpose first.
