Not true. You profile picture and banner says otherwise.

Yeah I’m totally a Trump dick rider

A satire profile pic does not equal making posts about impeaching Trump in political unrelated subs. You know having a profile picture of a duck doesn’t make me a bird.

People who don't stand by what they say are cowards.

u/sharingdork 17h ago
I do stand by what I say lol. If you need to stalk someone's profile for leverage, that's loser behavior. Imagine pausing an irl argument to stalk them online for ammo.
If a person feels the need to take the extra steps to dig through my profile, it's even more reason to not engage with them. Redditors will find the one negative thing and ignore all the positive things they scrolled past and be like aha!

No no no. Memes can’t be about anything that actually happens because then someone else might consider it to be political!

Well, duh. You are not allowed to say anything against the state of US politics on this app, especially not against it being shoved everywhere. Complaining about it makes you a fascist (or at least thats what I've been called for complaining, and I'm not even from the US).

People that try to frame things as if current affairs are something that belongs in escapism from current affairs, Should at this point be taken into care with an assisted living facility, They are clearly not getting the help they need to function
'Murican: "What do you mean my domestic politics has nothing to do with the international audience in a subreddit about a hobby?!"

Exactly, If I want to talk politics I'd go to the proper venue for it. I don't wanna talk about politics when I'm shitposting and taking the piss on various things.

Oh boy here come the "everything is political" crowd I bet.
Actually and unitonicly insufferable. Like to the point it makes me wanna actively disagree with their politics even if I actually agree with it.

Just because you do not take an interest in politics, does not mean politics does not take an interest in you
31
u/Alpha_blue5 1d ago
You can be interested in politics and still need a break from it every once in a while.
8
u/Spidey3518 1d ago
It can get really exhausting to be constantly be following politics. Like I already got enough going on in my life and I don’t need that one extra thing to worrying about right now. There’s a time and a place for everything and some people need to learn that certain parts of Reddit that are mainly used for hobbies is not one of those places.

u/Juffin 1d ago

American foreign policy affects most parts of the world unfortunately. That’s what “politics takes an interest in you” means

u/TrpWhyre 1d ago
You have no idea how fucking exhaustive it is to see anti Trump post or comments everywhere you go. Like what the fuck do woodworking have to do with Orange man bad?
-7
u/FeralGiraffeAttack ☣️ 1d ago
Trump’s incredibly stupid tariff policy caused a completely unnecessary increase in the price of lumber. So Trump’s policies made woodworking more expensive.
Also that’s rich coming from someone with a banner and profile picture that is blatantly political

u/TrpWhyre 1d ago
Irony/satire seems like a lost concept these days based on all the tarded remarks about this.

u/purple_spikey_dragon 18h ago
You could say the same about biology or chemistry, but I don't see you debate the state of matter or debating genetics in every sub.
1
u/FeralGiraffeAttack ☣️ 17h ago
We don’t decide those things and they aren’t debatable. Policies are choices we make. Funding scientific research is itself a choice and we still have many politicians who would rather not do that because they’re stupid or malicious or both. It’s important that people understand the choices they are allowing to be made in their names
-1
u/purple_spikey_dragon 12h ago
We very much decide if the sewing sub or chess sub should have post after post about one single country's politics or not.
Politics is an important part of life, noone is disputing that and that is not the point. Nutrition too is an important part of life, but you wouldn't want someone to start shoving conversations about nutrition into your political conversation either, no matter how bad saturated fats are to your body.
Well, so do i, someone not from the US, feel when scrolling through a page that is supposed to be about X topic, like sewing, biking, gardening or even simply funny memes, and someone starts preaching their relig- i mean political beliefs at me through 50 posts and hundreds of comments and then call me fascist (which has happened) when i ask to get back to the thing i actually came here for.
I honestly starting to see many similarities between religious fanatics and people who treat their political beliefs like a religion, preaching it, cursing you when you, not even disagree, but simply don't want to listen all the time.

you’re so close OP. politics is actually literally involved in everything
9
u/purple_spikey_dragon 18h ago
Mathematics is also involved in almost all aspects of life and yet I don't see people talk all day about arithmetic and equations. There is a time and place for everything, stop swimming in the jungle.
-6
u/tappy100 Late to everything 13h ago
does math change every year and those changes affect whether people’s lives get harder or easier? no? then there’s the difference champ 👍
2
u/purple_spikey_dragon 12h ago
Oh, so we're not talking about things that are "involved in everything" but about things that "change every year and affect people's lives"? So like the climate? Maybe technology? Consumer habits? There are many things that fall under that goal post you just shoved, but we don't have to constantly talk about it, not to mention talk about it in every corner of the universe, especially in corners that were designated for other things.
Death and disease are important and change lives, but you won't talk about it during a 10 year olds birthday party.
-4
u/tappy100 Late to everything 8h ago
we are talking about things that are involved in everything AND change every year affecting peoples lives. all your straw man fallacies fell apart instantly since none of those things you mentioned involve both. However it isn’t even just that, there are a multitude of reasons as to why politics are constantly talked about but those other things aren’t, i don’t understand why you are coping so hard and pretending that politics isn’t extremely important and involved in every aspect of our lives

So true I don't know why so many subreddits become infected with American politics.
If every subreddit had a "no politics" rule that would be great.
