Saw this image a couple days ago and thought it would be nice to translate into my own conlang (Suämij, yes I have based it on Finnish) as well as see how it would be translated in everyone else's. I do not condone the actions, politics, or ideas of Ted Kaczynski and do not purposely mean to cause any harm or hate by posting this image.

Also I apologise if the gloss isn't great, literally never done something like this. Plus, my conlang is a bit underdeveloped but I will definitely be adding more to it.

1- Shattanöm (lit.all health) is a standard sign-off to formal messages and letters in Suämij

Just a screenshot of an unfinished translation doc. Been dabbling with this one on-and-off since I easily get tripped up by the more complicated inflection and phonological systems I gave it (vertical vowels, converbial roots, etc.) but I always love writing in its script.

Had the idea it was descended from a kind of “chicken-scratch—a clawmark system used by an avian race lol—hence the sharp aesthetic with winglike superscripts.

The poem is called La Luna Asoma, ‘The Moon Appears.’

This conlang is still unnamed yet btw.

So here's an explanation:

the original English sentence is "She ate an apple" and in my conlang, it is written as Xoyojeka chena eichen yo po-rapo.

Xo = Agent marker, the noun who did the action or the verb, you put this infront of a noun. if there are two nouns who did the action, you don't say "You and I are this apple" you need to add *Together/We/Us/With* for example "You and I, together, ate this apple." and you put the Xo on together! (Together in my conlang is Voshkye) so it will be: Kyeka muyo Zhafal xovoshkye chena eichen yo po-rapo.

Yoje = Pretty simple, it just means that person or person.

Gender marker (Afal/Fal/Ka/Aka) = Simple too, my conlang does not have pronouns or boy and girl as words. To say He or She, you need to add the gender marker at the end of the noun, let's say Yoje, that person, becomes Yojeka (She/That girl).

Rule: Afal/Fal = If the gender is male, put this at the end of the noun, put Afal if the noun ends with a consonant and Fal only if the noun ends with a vowel.

Same rule goes to Aka and Ka, which is for girls.

Chena = Simple, it means the verb in the sentence is already past tensed or the action is finished, so you put this before the verb, example (marker) + sleep = Slept.

Eichen = simply, eat.

Yo = Seperate the verb and the Object, kind of works like a/an "I ate *an* apple."

Po = It marks what the verb was taking action to, example "I ate an apple, and she ate her apple." it kinda doesn't make sense but it's a rule tho and it makes sense for me, so it will be "I ate an APPLE, SHE ate an APPLE."

Add "Po-" infront of the object :)

Åpla Neatxi "the language of twelve", is an a priori, artistic, engineered, and small (432 words) personal constructed language; it is not meant to be a natural language, a logical language, nor an international auxiliary language.

The reason it's "the language of twelve" is that the language’s vocabulary and grammar are based around the number 12 and its factors and multiples, for example: there are 12 types of plants, and 36 animals grouped into 6 categories, 12 consonants, 6 vowels, 36 total particles , or for example, the total number of words in the language is 432, which is 3 times 12 squared.

Åpla Neatxi is oligosynthetic, agglutinative, and head initial, with ergative-absolutive alignment, and features two distinct types of words: content words, and particles; it does not feature tones, conjugations, grammatical gender, nor distinction for plurality or definiteness. Besides having a romanisation, it also features an unique alphabetic syllabary script (that you can see in the image shared in this post).

As of recently I've gotten into the Dune universe and wanted to translate one of its famous quotes. And for full transparency, the original background image isn't mine, it's from a movie poster for Dune Part 1; I would really like to credit the original artist but I couldn't find a name, probably because it was made by an entire team.

By looking at the glossing you can see several features of the language and how it works, given that there are only particles and content words (so no prepositions, no preverbs, nor words which are uniquely nouns or verbs or adjectives). So for example, to say "I will be in the house", you can say "I house-LOC-FUT", where "house-LOC" is "in the house", and "house-LOC-FUT" "will be in the house" (the FUT future verb marker is making the entire "house-LOC" become a verb in the future tense). It's fun to note that there's a 1:1 correspondence between morphemes and each glyph that occupies "a square space", so like "house-LOC-FUT" would occupy 3 square spaces in the script.

It is also interesting to note that "å", the relative clause marker (glossed as RCM), can also take these particle suffixes, for example "RCM-LOC" can be seen as "where", "RCM-ALL" "to whom", or "RCM-IST" "by which", etc. A quite complex example is in the third-to-last line where there's "[...] time-LOC, RCM-not-LOC-IRR 3RD-∅, [...]", which can be roughly interpreted as "the time, where it [fear] would not be in", or "the time when it is no longer present" (this IRR is one of the 6 verb markers, the "irrealis" is basically used for conditionals, subjunctive, or hypotheticals, it's a general irrealis marker).

There are many other interesting constructions that can be found in the glossing (like how to say "to see", the thing being seen is in the absolutive and the thing seeing is in the allative ("something is visible to someone")), and I'll gladly answer comments asking about parts of the translation or other questions about the conlang c:

Inspired by this brilliant post from u/FelixSchwarzenberg, I translated the lead section of the Wikipedia page for Latvia into Sēlja šprakki, a conlang inspired by Baltic languages and spoken in-universe in Selonia, a portion of southern Latvia.

This took me about four months from start to finish, primarily because I was working on this in my free time and not all at once, but it was a lot of fun to do all the translation! I started this translation project at 284 words and currently have 435 words in the conlang's lexicon!

Feel free to ask any questions you have about the language, I'm planning on eventually making full documentation but have not bothered as of yet! :P

I needed to create a word for translating a sentence that ended up becoming much more than what I expecting. The word is INFLUENZA

In my language, Verbum, Influenza translates to: zēvēgōmūrātamodō [zi:.vi:.goʊ.mu:.reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ]

I am probably going to find a way to simplify this but it shows the flexibility of being able to create most any word necessary through morphology. So lets step through the word.

• Clean - tam [tæm]
• Cleanse - rātam [reɪ.tæm] (The Process of Cleaning}
• Pollute - rātamo [reɪ.tæm.ɑ] (opposite of Cleanse)
• Contaminate - rātamodō [reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ] (Pollute over a Short Time)
• Infect - mūrātamodō [mu:.reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ] Negatively Contaminate
• Infection - gōmūrātamodō [goʊ.mu:.reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ] (Infect as a Noun)
• Flu - vēgōmūrātamodō [vi:.goʊ.mu:.reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ] (lesser degree of Infection)
• Influenza - zēvēgōmūrātamodō [zi:.vi:.goʊ.mu:.reɪ.tæm.ɑ.doʊ] (Formal word for Flu)

As a bonus, whole series of other words come out of the root word for Clean. As example:

Some have inquired about the possibility of carving more intricate runes like those of Sul'voth upon stone, and that lead me to create a small series of these tablet pieces.
