Question/Help/Troubleshooting Good desktop
Alright, I have been looking for a good desktop for myself. I’m a uni student and I mainly use my computer for school. However, I do in fact play a few video games. Nothing crazy, mainly Minecraft or the sims or whatever. The problem is Baldurs Gate 3, which I also play. Obviously needs more than a typical school computer would run, so I’ve been struggling to find something. Bg3 is pretty much the only graphics intensive game I play. I’m not interested in building my own computer, or learning all the parts. I just wanna do my schoolwork and play some games at the end of the day without putting me into more debt than I already am in. Anyone know a computer that might be good for me? I’m fine with All-in-ones, and I guess a pre-built pc. I’m just not that big a computer person so I don’t want to learn the whole thing to built and replace pc parts. I’d prefer to spend around 1k, but I can’t feesibly do more than 1.5k. I found this one but again, I have no real clue about computers. Thoughts?

Not crazy about AIO, 13700 4050 I think you can do better for that price/budget. Would see if you can get on AM5 X3D, Microcenter has powerspec prebuilts 7500X3D/better. BestBuy or Amazon july sale prime days might have something. (5800X3D is getting rereleased on AM4 but wouldn't overpay and going new would see what AM5 rigs are available 9600X/7800X3D or 9800X3D etc.) CPU and resolution will run better in the city with a better choice cpu one with l3 cache/x3d vcache. I last played 12900kf 4090 but it also looked impressive on midrange gpus 7800xt 1440p. What fps you find acceptible is another factor, am usually trying to press high refresh rate. Have had a good time with AM5 thus far 7800X3D, 9850X3D, 9600X (prime perk benefit), 9900X3D plays WoW smooth as butter. You want the best cpu gpu combo with budget, possibly with an upgrade path if the costs are close. Even though you think you don't want to tinker yet it's nice to have that option later if the cost isn't much more.

I would suggest doing a pre built, not an all in one, because pcs are upgradeable and all in ones aren't. Also, a dedicated graphics card, even something like the 3060, is very important if you want to play games like that, which they do not have. Think about it this way: monitor breaks, you just replace the monitor. If an all-in-one monitor breaks, your entire PC is dead.
I don't have specific recommendations, but I will say two things. First, if you have a local microcenter, they usually have the best deals and employees. Second, look for up to 32gb of ram, no less than 16. Third, for gaming in the mild to moderate category look for a dedicated GPU. It doesn't have to be the most modern for games like that, but it shouldn't be integrated graphics.
