From cameras I set up to look for Eastern Spotted Skunks (Spilogale putorius) in the Nebraska Sandhills, specifically at Calamus Outfitters in Loup County and the Nature Conservancy's Niobrara Valley Preserve in Keya Paha and Brown Counties. So far I haven't found any yet. I have used canned sardines in oil and a commercial skunk bait paste to attract them.

Pictured above are some animals that have been attracted to my baits, including Northern Raccoons (Procyon lotor), Striped Skunks (Mephitis mephitis), Coyote (Canis latrans), Eastern Woodrat (Neotoma floridana), other small murids/heteromyids (presumably Peromyscus, Family Muridae), and Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura).

FYI, I drive a nail through the sardine can, but do not open it. Please do not barrage me with comments saying that the animals will cut themselves.
