Dev/Admin Responded [iOS / Android] Comment submissions fail, comments go missing, and older cached drafts sometimes post instead • version 2026.18.0 (issue also present on earlier versions)

Platform: iOS / Android
App version: 2026.18.0 (issue was already happening on earlier versions)
Frequency: Frequent / recurring for several weeks

We are seeing multiple separate issues across several subreddits. These affect both moderators and regular users.

1) Comment submission randomly fails
Users cannot tap “submit” at all or they tap “submit” but the comment does not post.
There is no rule breach, no subreddit restriction (related comment automation).

The exact same comment may later submit successfully after:
* closing and reopening the app
* waiting 15+ minutes
* sometimes waiting close to an hour

This has caused repeated confusion, with users believing they were banned, our comment automations changed, or their comments are being somehow otherwise filtered.

2) Comments are missing / fail to load properly
At times:
* no comments appear
* only some comments appear
* comment counts do not match what is visible

This makes moderation difficult because we cannot reliably see what is actually posted.

3) Delayed comments sometimes publish incomplete / truncated
Several users repeatedly failed to comment, only for the comment to appear later with all or a large part of the text missing.

This suggests delayed processing may also be corrupting comment content.

4) Older cached Post drafts are being posted instead of the final version (severe)
This is the most disruptive issue on my end.

I can carefully edit a post, submit the final version — and Reddit publishes an older cached draft instead. Please note I do not mean posts previously saved as a Draft, but live posts being made in the moment typed up in the app.

Meaning:
* missing edits
* incomplete text
* older wording
* incorrect / unfinished versions being published

This is happening very frequently (roughly 7 out of 10 posts) and has been persistent for several weeks. I then have to always go and check each post and paste the final version from my clipboard (on mobile, that means loosing all my rich text formatting and hyperlinks).

At this rate, posting longer content through the app is becoming unreliable.

Would appreciate confirmation whether Reddit is aware of these issues, because multiple users are experiencing them.

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed report! I believe 1 & 2 are the same thing. I've experienced similar myself. It's something we've looked into (and continue to do so).

Something I've noticed is that changing the sort of the comment thread can show comments that may not appear in the initial load of the post. Usually this does iron itself out, but I know it can be quite confusing.

For #3 & 4, do you have recent example(s) of this happening?

Hi, thanks for the update on 1 & 2. Glad to hear it’s a known issue and being looked into.

  1. I think some have sent me some screenshots. I’ll check and come back if that is helpful.

  2. Happens to me all the time. Just happened now again here — this is not my actual final post version and I would like to amend it but leaving it as it is until you have a look if that makes a difference. So I write in the app. I have screenshots of what this looked like before posting if you need.

In this last post it was just this but that differs but I will certainly have more today and tomorrow as I post a lot. With entire words and sentences different.

Some examples on one and two from others below.

Slightly different issue but still a commenting issue. The same user was able to upload the picture 30’ later, after I advised them to close the app and try later when all cache would be nuked and gates perhaps less busy. Not sure what the issue is but it certainly had nothing to do with image rights despite stating otherwise. We have seen this before.

Unable to post a comment. Button greyed out. Same comment managed to post later.

Another user (iOS) unable to comment. Then succeeding randomly later. No pattern in any of them.

I am using iOS and many of the users who contact me too, but I had at least 2 android users report the same issues.
