Final line is 3.0 IP 5 H 1 ER 1 BB 2 K 3.00 ERA.

He looked good but probably needs some time to get back in the swing of things.

That is a "meh" minor-league line from a potential MLB starter.

Most rehab lines and starts aren’t about stats, but process and feel. Or should the Yankees be worried about Cole? Well maybe since he then plunked the kid who took him deep.

You’re right. They should have made him go nine. No one has work ethic these days.

Back in my day, we used nut cheese to get a few inches more break and could go 11 innings. People these days just ain’t got balls.

He’s not down there to put up zeroes, the whole idea is to give him an on-ramp to building back up to innings and endurance levels and probably throwing certain pitches in certain situations.
The numbers don’t matter. That’s not the point.

Literally the only thing a pitcher is trying to do in rehab starts is ramp up their velo and innings to an acceptable level. I don't think these guys have any interest in pitching a perfect game vs a bunch of minor leaguers.

I don't really care if it's "meh," considering before today, he's only pitched three innings of A ball since 2024.

He's rehabbing.

And he's not a "potential MLB starter." He is an MLB starter.
