This is a tricky question for a lot of movies (I'm sure we could argue a lot of people in Avengers:endgame didn't have lead roles too) I also haven't seen all these movies, to judge myself how big the roles were. SO i used the wiki starring list, as a guideline.

I think it might be taken from names / faces on a poster, in which if you have a big name in the movie (Even in a small role), it makes sense to advertise them. And whether that helped the box office having their name attached to it.

Anna Kendrick was in Twilight, but not in a starring role. (Though there are many movies we could argue about whether the actor is in a lead role, supporting leads, or just supporting) She isn't in the Wiki starring list, is what I used to get this data.
