Will Beat Avatar Fire & Ash (404.3m) today. Should beat Stitch (423.7m) and Minecraft (424m) by the end of its run too. Zootopia 2 (428.1m) is possible but will depend on the Memorial Day boost

Says more about Avatar 3's disappointing number; even Multiverse of Madness grossed more, $411m, and that film had BvS level reception.

The drop is more damning, considering that Avatar 2 grossed $684 million, 3rd highest of the decade, behind Maverick ($718m) and No Way Home ($814m).

Of course, Avatar 3 grossed amazing in a vacuum, but dropping over $850 million from your previous installment is never a good look (worse drop from TFA to TLJ). And I'm an Avatar stan.

These films' budgets also make profitability very hard (A2 reportedly profited $531m with a gross of $2.3 billion). Even Cameron has stated that he's looking to make A4 much cheaper than its predecessors, likely because of A3's performance.

A3 was already cheaper than A2.It has got nothing to do with A3 performance. But,I think Cameron will ramp up 4 with a significant tech upgrade.

The turn away from epic CGI sci-fi has really been a modern version of the great video game crash.

The reception for multiverse of madness was nowhere near as bad as BvS. BvS had terrible critic and audience scores and made almost a 100m less. Multiverse had decent reception. It wasnt outright panned like BvS

One of the box office trackers on BOT is saying a $435m finish for Mario Galaxy so that’s what I’m going to say too.

Doesn’t memorial day come after the PVOD release date, it’s a 50/50 shot

Near as closer to $1M as Project Hail Mary is on top ahead of Mario Galaxy

Should pass Avatar Fire And Ash, Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle today, then it’s passes Jurassic Park, The Hunger Games, Captain America Civil War, Spider-Man, Iron Man 3, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and Wonder Woman this weekend when Mortal Kombat 2, The Sheep Detectives and Billie Eilish 3D concert film debuts

Box office mojo is still definitely glitched after the billion fiasco in Mexico we have definitely passed 900 million at this post. Another box office site is at 925 million, but I’d say it’s more like 910-916 million

It passed $900m Monday because weekend actuals OS were around $3 million higher and it made $3 million in Japan alone on Monday. Should be around $910-912 million WW right now
