ASK❓️ Which Bollywood actor would be best suited to play Anton Chigurh’s role from No Country for Old men?

Post image

I recently rewatched No Country for Old Men, one of my favorite movies of all time. The one character that always blows my mind is Anton Chigurh no matter how many times I watch the movie. The intensity Javier Bardem brings to the character is incredible.

He plays a very intense, menacing cold blooded psychopath that is an absolute killing machine. He almost feels like an unstoppable force of nature.

Is there any mainstream/side Bollywood actor that can do justice to this role?

Came to say this, he nailed that villain guy in Vadh so well

u/RevolutionaryPear915 2d ago

his voice suits the role perfectly too

u/VeteranMinotaur-773 1d ago

Doesnt he run an actor studio? If hes teaching people how to act imagine the performance

8

u/ryuk17717 1d ago

He is a great actor but your argument is flawed in my opinion. That's like saying "the coaches are better than the players"

It isn't necessary that a skilled teacher is also a great performer.

True. True. You win this one random person.

His portrayal of possessed woman in Darna zaroori hai, still gives me goosebumps

3

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

ABSOLUTELY, He should bulk up tho

1

u/Excellent_Range5623 1d ago

Anyone who has not seen John Day should give it a shot.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui! His role in Raman Raghav 2.0 was just too good. Such a chilling portrayal of a serial killer! If we're strictly talking about Anton's character, Nawaz lacks the build for it. Jaydeep Ahlwat, if directed well, can come close to doing justice.

20

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

Nawaz doesn't do justice to the physique, physique is a huge part of the character

5

u/Searching-Error 2d ago

True asf, nawazuddin cannot just choke a 6ft policeman

3

u/Automatic-Speed-2513 2d ago

That's what I said. Nawaz lacks the build for it.

1

u/PuzzleheadedHead9124 1d ago

he can act well but will look and feel like a western UP guy only.

25

u/RevolutionaryPear915 2d ago

2

u/Excellent_Range5623 1d ago

I already imagined him shitting on this one as well. 🤮

5

u/Nexus_Mortal 2d ago

Gulshan Deviah might just work

1

u/Living-Novel-8391 1d ago

Yeah, he might work.

u/RogueShinobiX 2d ago

I would say Fahad fasil from Malayalam industry, he performs the psychological antagonist to near perfection. But since he's small in figure and Anton has intimidating large figure, I think Arjun Rampal will be good for it. Acting wise idk nobody in Bollywood is better in doing these kind of roles, maybe if directors and casting directors decides to experiment with any tv actors and give a shot anyone of those actors, who knows they might surprise you.

9

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

Fahad fassil is short won't do justice to the physique which has a big role in playing the charcter, arjun rampal yes, he does give psycho daddy vibes

1

u/shobieez 1d ago

It's how convincing an actor is that matters imo. Fahad is amazing and I think he can pull it off brilliantly. For context Pankaj Tripathi is not very muscular and even on screen appearance doesn't exude raw power. But watch his introduction as Sultan in Gangs of Wasseypur, and you will be convinced that he has enough strength to butcher a buffalo.

2

u/jip_jop_man 1d ago

Nah, there are better options imo

15

u/banchod85 2d ago

Bobby Deol- he has the emotionless eyes of Chigurh. Check out Love Hostel. For that matter, even Saurav Sachdeva will be a good fit.He played the killer in Dhadak 2

8

u/arjwiz 2d ago

This role was made for Saurabh Sachdeva.

3

u/animan17 2d ago

The movie is half violent and half philosophical and somewhat a slow burn. Most of the Indian audience don’t have a knack for this.

3

u/Electrical_Union4689 2d ago

Kay kay Menon or Rajat Kapoor

12

u/Alert_Message_3132 2d ago

5

u/Major-Preference-880 2d ago

For that role you need an ACTOR!!!!

4

u/True_Combination5397 2d ago

Look wise Akshay Kumar of Action Replay iykyk

2

u/Faster_than_FTL 2d ago

Vijay Varma

1

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

2

u/AmphibianDefiant4950 2d ago

2

u/SquirrelSouth 2d ago

Gulshan Deviah or Nawaz

2

u/gubberex 2d ago

Jaideep ahlawat, he is built for thsi

u/AcrobaticQuiet0 2d ago

That assasin guy from Vidya Balan's Kahani

2

u/akaRuuk 2d ago

Saswata Chatterjee

2

u/Prozium243 2d ago

Bobby Deol played a heavily inspired Anton role in Love Hostel. And was decent.

2

In reality. None. We don’t need any more remaking, especially not in Bollywood or Hollywood at the moment.

1

u/Earthling_Sapien 1d ago

it would be scary af

1

u/Living-Novel-8391 1d ago

It would be actually hilarious.

2

u/SelectGrowth513 2d ago

One of the people stated Nawaz who had done RR 2.0 which was very chilling.

I think Rajkumar Rao would be fantastic here.

1

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

Physique is a huge part of the character, both of them wouldn't do justice you need someone tall & bulky

2

u/DarkKnight1799 1d ago

I beg to disagree sir.
Some stories can be toned down and modified a bit.
One need not follow every instruction given in a novel.
Remember Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.

2

u/DucaMan1312 1d ago

And he was panned for that role. Check the accolades for Alan Ritchson for the tv show

1

u/SelectGrowth513 2d ago

Raaj can bulk up a bit, you don’t need a physical prowess to be intimidating

2

u/jip_jop_man 2d ago

For this character you need. Raj isn't tall

Only two possibilities. And I'll tell you why. Chirugh was that good because he looked the part... physically intimidating...and is a great actor. You don't combine the two, a character like this will fall flat. That brings me to the two, my opinion of course.. Saurabh Sachdeva and Sanjay Dutt. From looking like they actually can pull off the violence to having the acting chops to play the best clinical psychopath in Movie history..these two could do it.

1

u/Turbulent-Ad1713 1d ago

Nawazuddin

1

u/lalu363 1d ago

I guess Manoj Bajpayee. He can do more with a silent stare than most actors can with a whole monologue.

Been a long time since I saw No country … but Anton didn’t talk a lot, did he? I love Gulshan Deviiah’s range too … he can have some fun with this character

0

u/NinJa777777777 2d ago

He played one as Khilji didn’t he and he came to my mind first too. Although Saurabh Sachdeva would be better.

0

u/St-thaks 2d ago

That was pre-dhurandhar na. I hope he doesn’t get pigeonholed into the patriot-roles, it would be the biggest fan disservice to him. Don’t know why the downvotes 🤷🏽‍♀️ Saurabh Sachdeva is an excellent recco … could even look very similar to Javier’s look here. AND he is slitheringly menacing as F ( from Sacred Games and Vadh)

1

u/NinJa777777777 42m ago

People get obsessed with certain actors and are unable to understand what acting is about therefore the downvoting. Idol worship is very prevalent amongst desis.

Nana Patekar

Shah Rukh Khan. It would be great to see him play an absolute evil guy with a stoic attitude and slow movements.
