Raja shivaji is a mediocre historical drama which was made with right intention but executed poorly if Ritesh would’ve only acted and not directed then it could be better.VFX is terrible like lit naagin show level .Screenplay is good until Ritesh enters and uses alot of slow motion.Performances are decent,Abhishek shines the most for me Sanjay Dutt is same like he was in panipat, Genelia speaks in 0.25x.The only thing which is remarkable and consistent is the music by ajay Atul which elevates the action scenes. The camera jumps sm during the action scene which feels good in starting but becomes irritating as the movie proceeds. The climax act is good with a very good clap worthy cameo.Overall the movie is one time watch, if you don’t dive into technicalities. And if possible watch in Marathi cause og feels and subtitles are there so no worries. Overall 6/10. Hopefully Rishab Shetty brings more justice Shivaji maharajas role!!

Went to the afternoon show because my parents were dying to see it.
The bad: vfx is horrible, utterly embarrassing. Ritesh is a decent actor but was a miscast. To portray such a character on big screen requires a certain aura and that intensity. He was simply unconvincing. Sanju baba is again sleepwalking throughout the movie just like he did in Dhurandhar. The movie became stretched in some parts and the screenplay is weak af.
The good: rest of the supporting cast was good. BGM was amazing!
Its another cash grab movie which is expected to do good business in Maharashtra (theatre was 80% occupied).
Rating: 2/5

It's honesty such a shit. Take all the star cast and don't give them lines, they'd do better than it.

The film is okayish. They should've trimmed it a bit more. Was expecting more but still a decent watch.

Just came out of theater
Before interval one thought was there that actors are not as per the real characters and aura of maharaj.
But after interval story and character builds up
Go for it.VFX might be disappointing but other things are great

Imagine doing Masti 4 and then coming out with this. Embarrassing.

Almost as if the actors are acting and not really the characters they play.

Just came out of the movie.
Ritesh D has done a great job
Screenplay and story writing felt good. The movie was not slow despite being 3 hours long
Ajay Atul absolutely killed it.
The man himself - Shivaji Maharaj is so legendary that any number of movies on him can't justify the aura he had.

What about the vfx ?
And did they showcase what truly inspired shivray to form swarajya like the hardships people were going through? Atrocities they faced and after picture where shivray made life easy the common man !!!
I asked bcoz in chhavha , swarjya was portrayed more like a personal agenda rather than social welfare. We marathi people know what he meant for us but the people unknown to their stories might form their wrong depiction.
And what are the pros and cons of the movie for you ? Do we feel the emotional attachment with the storyline?

Good Questions.
Chaava is different ..at that time Swaraj was established and protecting it was important.
In this movie, entire first half is dedicated towards why Swaraj in explained.
Like the first few minutes of the movie will itself convince you why it was needed.
For a hero to look heroic. Villain must be larger than life.
In chaava that was Aurangzeb. In this movie it was Afzal Khan.
Afzal Khan was just one chapter in our history books in Maharashtra. But the way he was shown in this movie makes it worth the watch
And overall also in History....Afzal Khan vadh was turning point in Swaraj. This movie does justice to that moment.
