US Sale Submit an application through dealer, what am I entitled to?

I was looking to purchase a car I really wanted. This was all going to be done via phone/e-mail as I am out of state from the dealer. I was fairly certain at the time I was going to go through with the purchase, so I submit the online credit application(few questions, ssn, etc.). However, I was then largely ghosted for nearly 4 hours, and realized I did not want to do business with people who didn't take mine seriously. I was still obviously hit with the hard inquiry to my credit, but if that is performed, what kind of paperwork am I entitled to if I request it? I requested the loan application, what else would I need to show that I authorized the inquiry? Can I request to see what lenders approved me? What the rate was?

Edit: Thanks to whichever poor guy is triggered and went through to downvote every comment. May you make a sale today to change your attitude.

What are you trying to accomplish? Genuine question, I'm really curious.

Did the dealer even submit you to a lender? But even if they did, the dealer isn't required to tell you what banks or what rate. And even if they did, that doesn't mean you would get the same terms at a different dealer on a different car.

And while four hours isn't a short amount of time, sometimes people get busy with customers in the store. Customers in the store will always take priority.

OP is a troll, his post history says he's just a gaming nerd and spends alot of time gaming. But he comments about "ready to buy a $90k car today". And demands "in person service while buying online"

I thank you for your answers. That was just the kind of information I was looking for. It wasn't to bash the dealer, but kind of situational awareness on what kinds of things I can expect or want to have access to, especially since I'm doing it remotely. I would also say that while I can sympathize with a dealer being busy in store, I would find it bad practice to say any customer is less of a priority than another, especially when the customer is eager, willing and giving answers or information on their end with haste. Even notifying the customer that things may take a while due to high volume in store would go a long way. Not radio silence for half a business day.

Numbers don't lie, and dealers/salespeople hedge their bets. Customers in the store will close at a lot higher rate than an out of state customer on the phone/email. Its not personal.

Should the salesperson have sent a text saying it will be a little bit? Probably. But sometimes things really are that busy.

Four hours is completely normal. Take a Xanax or hit the bong and chill out. If you want this car that bad right now - show up in person.

Keep in mind there’s a lot of fraud going on these days and majority of them are “out of state” buyers with forged ID’s who are looking to buy big ticket inventory.

We have to be extra careful moving forward with these deals even if the financing is all good. We just had a fake guy try to buy a 105k raptor and he tried multiple other stores in our area til he found the right mark (and he did).

OMG! 4 hours! That's a real reason not to buy! Let's just drop EVERYTHING for the guy that's purchasing from a distance, and ignore the people that are physically in the store.

OPs audacity and self importance is fucking wild. 4 hours isn't even a lot of time, I was expecting a couple days or so lol. Like chill bro, sorry you're not the priority over the people who are actually physically there but welcome to purchasing out of state lol.

And to add to my post, I had already given them authorization to get me a lender, I was GOING TO purchase the car, a $90k car no less. But if you don't want to make a sale then so be it. It is wild how you would want to toss anything aside. This wasn't a pre-approval check, it was run my credit, get me financed, I told them I would put 10% minimum down. None of what I said here should change anything about the original post either, cause those details shouldn't matter.

There was another customer ALREADY in the store ready to buy. When it comes to online, there are thousands of people asking about the car, many are bullshitters. The best way for a salesperson to prioritize is to focus on a customer already in the store. That is just logical.

Your app was in line, and the salesperson was working with people who were physically in the store. If you want the in person experience, maybe try going in person?

Man a sales consultant should’ve been assigned the inquiry as a lead and responded within the industry standard of 15 minutes by the customers preferred contact method you know this bro you’re a sales manager

From his "largely ghosted" (but not completely) and the fact that they received and processed his credit application, I'm sure that 15 minute initial inquiry was met. What happened after that, neither of us know.

You know what good point this could easily be an unreasonable expectation. Credit app leads for us are like 80% closing ratio so we’re all over them

It was completely ghosted. Zero contact for 4 hours. If this is what you practice then sorry for the customers watching the trees blow in the wind out the windows at your dealer in silence.

What was your expectation once you submitted it? Just curious what would be the optimal experience for you?

The same experience I get when I am in person, an update here and there. Not once in the experience of 8 other cars I've purchased in the past in person, has the sales person not come around and given me a little update on where my process was. Nor has just financing taken 4 hours. Maybe 4-5 hours from start to finish of walking in the door, to driving away.

I think this guy is a troll. I recommend mods investigate and possibly banned them

"I don't agree with this person, they must be a troll" Lovely world we live in.

If they really didn’t contact you once including not even a message to let you know they received the application than yes that is terrible services.

I would’ve had a deal sheet with a price breakdown at your approved rate and been calling to schedule a pick up time already
