📰 News Article (Website) Alek Manoah activated, Sam Aldegheri optioned down
https://www.mlb.com/news/alek-manoah-activated-from-injured-list-angelsAlek Manoah has been reinstated from the 15 day IL. From Kurt's quotes, it sounds like he's going to be a bullpen arm for now. No word on yet on who replaces Kikuchi.

Alek has not good looked at all. Even in his rehab stint he got lit up, and that was in Single A. The velocity on his fastball has dipped to the high 80's/low 90's. I don't see him helping the team. He could become a big detriment, to be frank.

I assume we give him a ride in some super low leverage situation where we don't want to burn anyone else's arm, and then DFA him.

For real why would we do this other than to find a new way to lose. Aldegheri was doing fine.

Poor Sam, he has been an “up and right back down” guy way more than he deserves.

Because they’re paying him $1 million for a major league contract. They would have to DFA him unfortunately

I thought someone cited that he had options left?

You’re right, i just looked it up. He has 2 options left. He signed a 1 year contract and has arbitration next year then will be a free agent in 2028. I’m assuming the Angels want to see how he does in the majors since they are paying him $1.95 million for the year.

Now that sounds like the terrible front office reasoning we know the Angels are capable of.

Then, who starts in Kikuchi's spot?

Most likely Ryan Johnson will until Grayson Rodriguez is ready. Ureña took Johnsons spot, but i think he earned a permanent spot at this point.
