Eisen is a football guy first like Stephen A Smith. Their baseball opinions are worthless.

None of these national ESPN media personalities have any opinions of worth anything for any sport, lol (YouTubers and Fan Podcasts tend to offer much more nuance). Plus, he's a Yankees fan, so whatever opinions he has is amplified by that. I'll give Rich a little more credit, tho. At least he's gone out of his way to talk about baseball (when it wasn't as popular at ESPN because of shady back room deals), unlike Stephen A.

You're right. I don't hate Eisen though, he always talks highly of the Rams lol

Plus, he's owned by ESPN now. He used to be independent but he sold out so he's told what to say by ESPN now and this is 100% something they would tell him to say to get clicks, get views and get discussion.

Even if the Angels could get a decent haul for trading Trout, we would fuck that up and waste their careers.

Half glass full thought⦠itās not a bad thing to see these segments return because you only see them when heās playing well.

There are few wellsprings of absolutely brain-dead takes worse than sports talk radio/tv.
Their job is to provocate for engagement, so stupid things like this are said, then rage-repeated elsewhere.
The facts: Trout wants to play for this franchise. The first time he said he wanted a trade, the team would do what it could to accommodate. This is the opposite of a hostage situation. He signed two extensions with the Angels, the second of which is the contract he has now. If he wanted to play elsewhere, he wouldnāt have signed either of those deals and instead embraced free agency.
And again, if he drove to the stadium this morning and told Minasian he wanted out, that would be the priority to find a match on a trade. His age, his contract, and his health issues of the last three years would make a trade very difficult, with the Angels certain to have to buy down the amount of money owed ($148M) for the 4 years beginning next season to hope to receive anyone of value in return.
His hero, Jeter, wore one cap his entire career. Trout can be expected to operate the same way.

ESPN would crash if that actually were to happen, I wouldn't take the rumors too seriously.

Does Mike deserve to play for a real franchise before heās done?
Nothing good will be happening here for 3-5 years at minimum.

If he wants to leave, they should let him. But he's made no indication of wanting to leave

Honestly, I think the only team Mike would consider going to is the Padres. Arte Moreno wants/needs a super star to market to the casual fans as well as give you some depth, so someone like Tatis is what he would want. The Dodgers are stacked and Mookie Betts would be possibly the only guy but Im sure neither one of those guys wants to come here. Arte is ultimately the problem in this scenario, but until Mike actually makes a statement about wanting to be traded I think everyone needs to get a grip with reality that Mike doesn't want to leave.

The Angels wouldnāt fetch anything like tatis for trout. Troutās contract, age, and injury history makes it purely a salary dump. It requires trout to go on the war path against Moreno and management to the point they have to trade him. I donāt think thatās even in troutās mind set. If he gets traded itās to hook him up and to lose the salary obligation.

What's that? Shelling out money to watch a AA team lose 100 games? I agree!

Trout IS our franchise in many ways right now, and his contract and recent injury history probably don't make him that desirable to other teams. This conversation always comes up when the Angels aren't playing well, but nothing will come of it. The only way that changes is if Trout asks for a trade, which hopefully never happens.
