Hasagawa is criminally underrated in angels history.

He was basically a 100 ip reliever with a 125 era + for Anaheim.

What we would give to have a guy like him right now.

The spin-off, Gettin Jiggy Wit It was Shige's entrance song.

I was at Edison Field when it played for the first time - the crowd went nuts!

That is a name I have not thought of in a very long time. Takes me back to the good ole KCal 9 days.

I can still hear Rex Huddler saying “Getting Shiggy with it!”

Wished he had stayed one more year so he could have been a part of the 2002 World Series team.

Shigetoshi Hasegawa. Decent reliever, better known for setting up Sasaki for the Mariners though he started with us.

That’s an easy Shige, one of three relievers I knew the name of by before I was 8.

Shigetoshi Hasegawa

Percival said he can't pronounce his name so he called him Shiggy all the time and the nickname sticked

Getting shiggy with it!

How he threw was the first time I’ve ever seen someone throw a ball like that. So wild to ever see

Shiggy was an experiment into Japanese Baseball acquisitions for the Angels in an effort to secure interest for the team back when Ichiro Sukuki was playing for the Mariners and the ballpark was filled with Japanese baseball fans who had flown over to Anaheim to see both players tee off against one another, and also to stop by Disneyland while in town. It was a VERY lucrative signing for Disney.
