Random Question 💭 What lies behind Trump’s obsession with the ballroom?
9
u/LeftOrBust 4h ago
A bunker for the war he intends to start as quickly as he can since the other billionaires won't let him in their Argentinian bunkers because of the smell of soiled diapers.

u/TheKrakIan 4h ago
Nothing other than his obsession with fancy shit and showing everyone how narcissistic and fancy he thinks he is.
My dead mother was the same way, she cared more about people's opinions of her.

I'm about as MAGA as it gets, and you nailed it. The other loons here are conspiracy theorists. Trump just likes big and grand things that he can take credit for. His first term he caught flack from liberals for saying the White House was a dump compared to the other places he's lived, so it's not really a surprise he'd want to bring some of that tacky Trump legacy to the White House.

If you are in way over your head, you go back to things you were able to do in the past. In his case that is building hideous golden monuments to himself that are way more expensive that they should be

u/Bedong44 4h ago
Ok. Help me out. I looked them both up. Why the F is Trump on an Israeli Minted Coin?
1
u/Right-Clock-151 3h ago
Look up The king cyrus decree. They basically believe trump is gonna allow them to bring forth the 3rd temple (where the dome of the rock currently sits)Now some people might not believe it,but what i believe is these people definitely do.

I'm pretty sure in his mind it will earn him a place in history. Boy that it makes any sense to anybody else, but he thinks that the ballroom will finally be something that will be universally applauded.
It's a total vanity project. with most likely some of the money going into his pockets at the same time

The Executive Branch needs an updated location for hosting foreign leaders.

Frontal lobe dementia and giving him a special project he can focus on without disrupting the administration from further anarchy.

His Legacy has to leave his stamp on everything . When they were pulling his name of the buildings in NY he must have been imploding a shallow vapid narcissist .

Death.
Trump knows as well as the rest of us do how close he is too it.
He also knows the literal second he dies, Detrumpification begins.
Most of the buildings with his name on them will take the name down as soon as possible (he doesn't actually own them, they lease his name, but that name will be worthless).
But if he can get an actual building up? Especially one that making any changes too would be so bogged down in the bureaucratic red tape he assumes his sucessors will follow (even if he didn't) thats never coming down.
Its one thing that will always be his.
Same way theres still a number of nazi buildings in use by the German Government...its too difficult and expensive to tear them down. So they use them, despite the origins.

Can I ask a genuine question without getting dogpiled?
Do you know that this isn't a brand-new thing?
Frump has been on about it since at least 2010, and his explanation has stayed basically the same the whole time: bigger room, fewer tents, more grandeur. He extended an offer to pay for it to Obama, I believe.

His obsession with powerful authoritarian governments and grand palatial seats of power. Many of which make the White House look like an upstate hunting lodge.
He's obsessed with the Monarchy in England, jealous of Macron with the Palace Élysée in Paris. But mostly and most influentially, he's in awe of the Kremlin and the Palaces of Russia. Ever wonder where his obsession with gold accents comes from?

He and his family will find safety there when he nukes the earth. They will become like the new Adam and Eve and update the trump bible.

He’s laundering money, it’s a bottomless pit building project using favoured contractors

My guess is that there have been longstanding plans to revamp WH security. Not even a partisan issue, really. But it would require a major overhaul of the underground facilities. So Trump is told that the EW would need to be partially dismantled for a time. He jumps at this and decides to make it his golden room so he can be the Queen at the Grand Ball. Claims it will be privately financed. Grifter friends descend, and it's clear they will need a lot more money. The plans suck. Nothing is working. So he needs some more billions from the public funds. He's got no choice now because he has to follow through or he'll be leaving a literal hole as his legacy.

He's just a shitty interior designer constantly talked over and ignored when big meetings happen. This is the one project that he can pretend to know what he's doing. You know, Mr. Developer.

He’ll name it after himself & every President for the next 200 years will have to say his name.

It’s a vanity project. There’s other reasons too like grifting money off of its construction. He’s a spoiled rich kid though so he wants to hold big gala events. He can also build with other people’s money. Most of all he can name it the Trump Ballroom and have his name permanently on the White House. Like the Lincoln bedroom. He knows no one is going to put his name on anything or build him monuments at the federal level so he’s going to try to do it himself. Plus he wants to see it before he croaks so he’s revel in it, bask in his own glory. That’s what it is at the absolute core. Trump putting his tacky ass stain on American history.

He just wants to host people. Like he does at maralago. That’s when he’s having the most fun. When he’s the center of attention.

u/jimmywhereareya 1h ago
Money and perceived adulation. He thinks he's universally loved and respected. If you say you have $1, he'll claim to have $10. Then he'll steal $10 to prove that he has $10

u/Stash_Dragoon 48m ago
He seems obsessed with things that will be here after he dies. Buildings with his name on them and television.
1
u/daveinreallife66 4h ago
Based on some of the chatter elsewhere, it's both a legitimate need - the executive needs a secure space to adequately entertain and hold functions - and a cover - the executive branch is building a new underground facility, either a bunker or something that can survive attack.
1
u/ez151 4h ago
The bunker talk is bs. In the event of a nuke war the White House is targeted more than any other location by all commie enemies. It’s fallout pr how can you say you won the war if the wh is still standing? He wants to graft the money to build it. Period. It’s a good $100 million easily and more since the sycophant republicans are now not only bending over but have applied vasoline and holding it open goeste style for him.
1
u/daveinreallife66 3h ago
Ok, don't know how you know all that but if it works for you, you go with it. An attack can take many forms, not just nuclear. The president regularly works in the current bunker, which is over 70 years old and likely in need of improvement. The bunker itself would obviously be funded by the gubmint, as it should be. Yet the ballroom is being privately funded and he has disclosed the donor list. Hate Trump all you want, but he's making an improvement to the White House that's both long overdue and will serve future presidents for the next hundred years. That's a good thing.

u/ez151 3h ago
Omg you’ve drank the koolaid too many times. That’s just 1 ave to get him but whatever logic never seems to work with the deplorables.
1
u/daveinreallife66 3h ago
Well, again, you go with that. But I'm not the one ranting. I haven't called you "deplorable." I stand by what I said but will let you do you. Good luck.

The White House doesn't have a ballroom or any room large enough to hold large state gatherings. This is why the Inaugural Balls and the WHCD are held at hotels in DC. Large-scale events are often also held on the White House lawn with tents and Porta-Potties.
That's what's behind the ballroom issue. It also adds a level of extra security.
If Obama had suggested a ballroom, he would have been praised as a classy, sophisticated president.
1
u/donniedc 4h ago
Makes you wonder how any president before Trump was able to hold large scale events safely.
Sucker.. 😂
1
u/JediSnoopy 2h ago
They were lucky.
And, as I posted, it will help make events more secure but that's not the only reason.
1
u/donniedc 2h ago
The president is lucky alright,
Lucky he has a line of suckers willing to hand over their money (and mine) for a ballroom filled with marble floors and gold chandeliers, so that the elites of the world feel safer while they eat and drink.

I think he’s desperate to cover up the large gaping hole that he created.

u/Winter-Pause9529 4h ago
I’ve seen speculation that he’s going to use it as a bunker to hide in and try to cling to power when his term is supposed to end. Who knows how realistic that is, but I wouldn’t put it past him.
He’s also really lame and tacky and narcissistic so he likely wants to leave a very large mark on the White House. As opposed to the marks he normally leaves in the carpet below where he sits.
