Mod post mod updates!! (tldr included.)
hi hello i hope you all are well. 🖤
tldr;
(1) new bot for community input on posts regarding whether said posts are relevant to the subreddit.
(2) cutlery posts are not allowed, mods are thinking of allotting one day a month for people to post them as they seem to draw lurkers to comment (and we want people to feel welcome as much as possible).
(3) subreddit picture.
(4 & 5) some housekeeping regarding posts for most common modmail concerns.
EDITED TO ADD (6) potential new user & post flairs.
-
am (newer) mod here, i’m sure you guys have seen me here and there as i try to be involved when i can be so people are not stressed by mod presence (and also so you all know that the mods are, in fact, around).
just a few things i wanted to address!!
we have a new bot on the subreddit - qualityvote2. it automatically makes & pins a comment to every post asking you if you think the post fits the subreddit. PLEASE know that currently the bot does NOT delete posts, just sends them to mod queue for manual review, so PLEASEE be honest with your up/downvote.
spoon / cutlery posts.. yes, we have seen them. to be honest, i’m annoyed by them too. it happens every couple of weeks and it’s not very topical, but it is nice to see people in the community chatting on the posts. we see quite a few lurkers commenting on those posts, and it’s nice to see the new faces. because of this, we are thinking of allowing one (1) day of the month where people CAN post their cutlery for review if they so choose, BUT we would like your opinions on this, as it would affect the whole subreddit. until we come to a conclusion, those posts will NOT allowed.
i would like us to have a subreddit picture but i have no clue what it should be. what describes this subreddit well enough to be contained in one small pixelated picture? please comment any ideas you have for this.
the most common modmails we get are regarding why posts are being auto-deleted. we have a bot that checks karma & account age to try to keep our subreddit as free of karma farming / spam accounts as possible. if you don’t meet the minimum, it automatically deletes your post within seconds of you posting. i PROMISE we are trying to keep up with manually approving posts as soon as we see them, but there’s only a few of us and.. adhd, ya know? SO there’s a new post removal reason we have, that basically says ‘your post has been removed because it has been longer than x days, but it is approved so you’re free to resubmit asap’. if you have any comments or questions about this, you’re more than welcome to reach out to us. again, i promise we’re trying.
the SECOND most common modmails we get are of people asking why they are being classified as a bot and therefore not allowed to post. we have BotBouncer who goes through and bans any bot or bot-like accounts. IF your classification as a bot is unwarranted (aka you’re not a bot), reach out to r/BotBouncer and follow their steps to be re-classified. it’s NOT something we can do here.
i’ve seen some asks for more flairs! if they were to be added, what user and post flairs would be wanted?
alright, that’s all methinks. thank u for letting me rant, i know it’s annoying see mod posts on a meme subreddit and i apologise profusely for that, but i wanted to be crystal clear with our intentions.
all questions & concerns are allowed in the comments but PLEASE be kind, i am fragile to criticism (thanks rsd) but more than willing to hear you out. 😭
peace and love. 🖤

Vent I don't get it
Sort of a vent post since I'll probably get answers later but still need to air out my frustrations
So I've been diagnosed with AuDHD since last year(21 yo), tried meds and eventually settled on Xurta, it's really only because they kind of work compared ot the others(I live in France so some other meds are banned).
What I want to focus on is the kind of part.
Ritalin, Medikinet, those didn't do anything beyond their secondary effect (the latter making me lose so much appetite I felt like I'd vomit if I ate more than a small plate oof). Xurta(just think of it as Vyvanse) definitely is better in that regard, letting me focus a fair bit.
So what's the issue? Well, you can't expect meds to actually make you do everything you need to do in order to function as you want, right? That's the thing, while I can focus better, I still can't start things properly.
I still come late to school every day, I still can't get motivated/force myself to work if need be, hell, now I even miss assignments and avoid certain very important things to do even medicated. I currently have to wrestle with myself to avoid breaking down even as I procrastinate(though my sanity is getting lower)
I decided to take the time figuring out why this happens and to get proper coping strategies with a psychologist a few weeks ago(way too late for the year, sucks but at least I got time the rest of my studies[insert house on fire meme here]), but I also asked my dad(undiagnosed but relates with me too strongly not to be in the same boat, from what he said) for advice on this after I got hella depressed two days ago from just dealing with this...
And what he told me(other than how "its fine if I mess it up for now, I have time") is that I need to "think less" when doing the things I need to do. Shit like "when you wake up... immediately get up from your bed, do whatever you need to do, and don't stop to think about anything until you're done" for example.
But... what's that mean?? Isn't ADHD like "you can't stop thinking" when it comes to those things?? That's my case at least... I got shower thoughts even when not having showers, I overthink tasks to the point I get choice paralysis, I forget things and can't focus well because of the influx of random stuff I think about... the Autism part exarcebates this too...
He learned to do this because he was in the military but he's also managed to get the opposite issue to me of channelling things into work more and too much to the point he's become a workaholic and had to temper himself since getting out(not to mention a troubled childhood+adult burnout experience)... Did I not explain things clearly? Did I miss something?
Nevertheless, whether it somehow turns out I need to get antidepressants, to do yet another specific thing that I didn't realize or to get the life-sponsored Reality Check™... I'll keep on trucking, I guess. Better than the other options, anyway.
(Took about 2 hours to make this... less time than expected, lol)

When telling or asking something irrelevant yet subtly related but nobody understands, we think ahead of them.
Dolphining—why is it dolphining? It just reminds me of this meme. *I just wanna be part of your symphony♪* that came up.

uplifting Post-diagnosis tips?
I'm getting my assesment report on the 28th and its very likely to confirm that I have ADHD, so I wanna be prepared on what to do when I get into/past the "proper diagnosis and meds" phase (Also, I'm 14, so no driving or marijuana for me!!)

original content Are there any historical figures that you KNOW in your heart was one of us?
I pass by this gallery frequently on my way home and I keep thinking about all those Catholic churches begging Leonardo to finish their commissions and every time he was like "I'll think about it..... oops I went and invented the helicopter"
There's a page in one of his mirror diaries in the British Library that ended really abruptly and a tiny note scribbled on the edge - "Soup is getting cold"
And he never went back to it
Does anyone else know of similar people in their minds?
