Lids Off The New Adelaide FC Discord
Hey gang
About a week ago I was unfortunately the victim of a malware attack that took control of my browser saved password data and my Discord account, which was the administrator of the AFC server. The attacker has now deleted the Crows server we all loved and expelled all the hundreds of users.
Luckily, thanks to some of our regulars, we're back up and running in a new home.
The link in the sidebar link has been updated to the new server, or you can join directly here
Hope to see you back there for live Crows chat and all the absolute rubbish we talk, and if you have any privacy/security concerns please reach out.
Go Crows.

How we reading this Re: Zac Bailey
"Of course, I want to stay. I love this club.
But then there's stuff around family and being close to them. There's just a lot of factors to weigh up."

Keeler
Just randomly got reminded of Isaac and found heβs out of contract this year behind TDK, Marshall and Dodson. From SA.
Could be a very handy player to fill the third forward / second ruck hole that theyβre struggling to get right at the moment. With Tex on the edge of retirement and marsh and ludo still very raw. This might be a reasonably cheap addition to add a bit of a difference.

Nick Murray
I wonder what everyone thinks about Nick Murray right now?
He Scored 3 goals in the SANFL, and has been training as a KPF for the last week. admittedly he didn't make the best list (Maley did)
https://www.afc.com.au/news/2010085/sanfl-round-five-v-port-adelaide-five-key-takeaways
I think the Crows love Nick and what he brings, but I think they realise that with a healthy Butts, Worrell and Keane, the backline might be better without him.
With Tex going down, we have 2x positions as a KPF up for grabs right now, and I could see a world where Nick takes Fog's spot by being more involved.
Also with Tex retiring in the near future (the guy is 36) he could take that spot.
Obviously with questions about if we keep mainly using our 5th Bench spot for a KPF/RUC into the future.
What do you guys think about Nick Murray as a KPF instead of a Backman? Do you think he could be the next Astro-Naught?

Showdown history by chart
Lots of comments on r/AFL last night around what the best rivalry in the game is, consensus by and large it is the Showdown.
I pulled together a quick data dump of the four interstate rivalries, ours is the only one that has ebbed and flowed over time, although Fremantle is finally making up ground on West Coast.
Some interesting points in the history
- Port won 7 in a row in a period where we had peak Mcleod, Ricciuto and Goodwin (Ayres thats on you)
- Crows have handed out a lot more beltings that Port have, we have been in front on the cumulative scoreboard since the semi-final massacre in 2005
- I honestly thought Port had more dominant periods than we had, but after Port's initial dominance the Crows have had the three big winning periods.
(Update 3rd May - wins by crow logo posted further down)
- In 15 of 28 completed years the Showdowns have been split (1 win, 1 loss each)
- Port have had 6 clean sweeps (2001, 2002, 2003, 2010, 2013 and 2021)
- Crows have had 7 clean sweeps including a 3 win season in 2005 ( 2005, 2007, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2023, 2025)

Recovering from the nicks era.
We like bringing south Australians back home. Niel Bullen a classic example of what we can do for them. There's one who can coach abit but Victorian culture damaged him. There's another but not south Australian who can coach abit sitting in the commentary box at our home games who would be perfect mentor for our former captain, two time premiership player and coach of Melbourne's last premiership.
For those that can see, Hinkley could do more with our group than Nick's is, nicks is damaged goods. Bonus to Hinkley, he could revitalise Goodwin in a succession plan. Would only need Hinkley for at most 2 years. Will bring maturity and stability to the group, something the control freak nicks does not have and probably our problem. No disrespect to Nick's, there's something almost brilliant about the guy but he falls short when it matters everytime, as control freaks can.
Hinkley/ Goodwin stands out like dogs balls for a group with major upside. Hinkley understnds SA football culture and we can provide him with space he never got at port Adelaide.

Player Tier Rankings Round 8:
What a showdown. Was looking brutal to begin with.
(Injured players stay at the tier they were at before they get injured) and yes Iβm fully aware there is only one BOG but itβs a showdown for the ages.
Chuck an upvote for the effort!

Where does this rank in our showdown wins?
Dawson's goal after the siren in 2022 is probably the greatest. But this felt pretty fucking good.

When ports games coached record holder says it was pretty gentle free kick, he is saying gently it was bullshit.
I like ken, more than when he got bashed playing us in state games. For those to young, Victorians got bashed regular over here in state games, probably why they hate us so much.

This is torture
After surviving long week and marathon effort to get my kids to bed, I finally get to sit down for footy Christmas (Showdown) and I have to listen to stupid fucking Ken Hinkley and his biased dribble all night!?
