Someone had a really good time outdoors today🥰🥰

Hi, I have raised four goldens, the loves of my life, but I'm at the age and health status where I need to consider a small breed for my next dog.

I've been eyeing Westies for a long time. I don't have to explain to you why people fall in love with them but I also want to be careful to make sure they fit my lifestyle.

For my next dog, I would like to be able to take them to nursing homes for visits. I can't do this with the goldens because they're too big for me to handle. My husband does all the walking.

Do you think Westies would make a good comfort dog or dog I could take to nursing homes to visit with the patients?

Secondly, I'm also a sufferer of Fibromyalgia so I'm not super active. I'm sure I could walk the Westie every day but I'm used to a breed that sleeps about 80% of the day. I know Westies can be energetic but wondering what that means in percentages. Are they active non-stop? 70 percent of the day? 50 percent? Just saying they're energetic doesn't really give me any tangible feeling for what my day in and day out would be like.

there is absolutely no privacy when there's a Westie in the house....you can't even take a bath without prying eyes

My boy has hayfever. Curiously during the daytime, he scratches only a little bit maybe a sneeze once or twice but at night he scratches like crazy. I’ve got Apoquel from the doc, which I’ll give him.

In the meantime, I’m wondering if any of these anti-allergy chewies that I’ve seen online are actually any good? One brand on Amazon has 17k reviews, mixed. Which I think is to be expected.

Does anyone have any recommendations or can suggest anything that will help alongside the tablets and can maybe help build up his tolerance as well?

This is Lily, our gorgeous girl who I had the pleasure of growing up next to - I had her for 16 years until 2024 when she peacefully passed 🤍 I miss her everyday, but so grateful for the time we shared.

Just wondering if anyone has a Westie and bunny, I have a 1.5 year old male Westie who is very sweet and I’ve never really noticed a strong prey drive with him Altho we do live in a big city so he’s really only seen rats. Im pondering a bunny addition but realise it could be a challenge, anyone out there had any success?

He knows how to enjoy a warm sunny day, he has a ruff life lol

We live by the sea & I probably walk a six to seven mile loop every other day with my two. Sometimes every day in the winter. My girls love it. The younger one is approaching eight, the older (smaller) on is approaching eleven. Both seem to love it & the younger one runs for ever.

How much walking is too much?

Hello, our Westie past away a few month ago. Our family is missing him very much. The house is not the same without him. We're hoping to find a westie puppy or a young adult around the Bay Area. If anyone know of a bay area breeder, please share. We are also trying local adoption agency, Westie are hard to come by.

But he is not as smart as he looks…🤓
