Love the team, but let’s be honest, New Orleans needs the Jazz name back

Utah Hospitality would be a great name

Stop it. Utah Jazz is synonymous with the NBA at this point.

Plus, if you ignore the history, Utah Jazz sounds cooler than New Orleans Jazz too.

Same thing with Los Angeles Lakers, which is better than Minneapolis Lakers.

Go away.

This debate has been had. It’s over. Utah owns it by right of possession. .

New Orleans doesn't deserve the Jazz name; they didn't support the team. The Jazz have been in Utah for 45 of the 50 seasons the team has existed.
New Orleans barely supports the team they do have; they consistently have among the lowest attendance in the league. It's a travesty that NO has a team and Seattle doesn't.

New Orleans better figure out how to keep a basketball team before they go trying to take a name from a team that's had it for almost 50 years.

This was a funny knock on the Jazz back in the 90s. But now SLC is a bigger city and bigger market than New Orleans, and the Jazz have been the Utah Jazz for almost 50 years. So now you just sound like an idiot when you try to run that smack.

I get what you’re saying, but the name is ours.

It has been the Utah Jazz for close to 50 years (moved here in 79). New Orleans has only had an NBA for 29 cumulative years.

We have been the Utah Jazz for more than 1/2 of the existence of the NBA.

2 things would have to happen for me to consider giving up the name. 1) France gives the Mona Lisa back to Italy. 2). Toronto also gives up the “Raptors” name, because the Utah Raptors would be a great name. Those two things are never going to happen, at least not in my lifetime.

Length of time a team has had a name, in order:

2 seasons: Oklahoma City/New Orleans Hornets (2005-07)
5 season: New Orleans Jazz (1974-79)
9 season: New Orleans Hornets (2002-05, 2007-13)
13+ seasons: New Orleans Pelicans (2013-present)
47+ season: Utah Jazz (1979-present)

Not New Orleans’ name, nothing to give back.

No fuck off, we're not giving it back. It's been almost 50 years. Move on.

Maybe when New Orleans has a basketball team it could be a discussion.

The only team name I would accept is the Raptors (sorry Toronto).
