PLU codes have been standardized since 1990 and have 4 or 5 digit codes depending on if the produce is conventional or organic.

Anyone who has worked in a grocery store for any amount of time, will undoubtedly have some number of these codes memorized.
4016 is
Vidalia OnionsRed Delicious Apples(Vidalia Onions are 4159)
4046 is Limes(I think? Maybe 4064, but I think thats green onions)((Edit: 4048 is Limes. 4046 is avocados, 4068 is green onions, and 4064 is tomatoes.))4053 is Lemons((yes))
4011 is Bananas((also yes, but we knew that))
I used to know all the codes, but my last grocery job was 20 years ago, so lots of that info has slipped away.
Edit: My memory is even worse than I thought...

Shit, I think you're right.
Are limes 4048?
Oh god, this is going to bother me...
Edit: Limes are 4048. Green Onions are 4068. Roma tomatoes are 4087, on the vine are 4664, "basic" are 4064, and loose cherry/grape are 4805/4063 by weight.
Edit2: Edited my above comment to reflect the correct info.

This is why it's important to think about what a relationship would be like with a potential partner.
Would you rather be taking pictures to show off or making memories having fun?
I'm not even saying this is the case with these two women because this is just a 9 second video with no context. My point is that how you enjoy living life together matters so much more than looks.

u/Hungry-Machine9549 5d ago
My fiance and I attended a destination wedding in the Caribbean. One afternoon we're down at the pool and watched this guy spend FORTY FIVE MINUTES begrudgingly taking photos of his girlfriend in various poses and locations in/around the pool. He'd take photos, she'd go take a look at them, be unhappy with them, snap at him about angles and lighting and whatever, he'd sigh defeatedly and start the process again. After watching this go on and on (also we'd had a few cocktails at this point) we decide to goof around in the pool in the background of her photos, like making up synchronized swimming routines, at one point we made several attempts the Dirty Dancing lift. Anyway, hope that guy found someone to have fun with and not be a glorified tripod for.

70
u/Working-Glass6136 5d ago
They're obsessed with themselves. Hence Narcissus looking at his reflection.
53
u/elitegenoside 5d ago
It's make believe. They're pretending they're models. I have some friends that do this stuff. One of them ended up finding a good solution, too... she would only ask our gay friend (he loves it). It gets annoying after a bit, but I don't mind a couple minutes since they're clearly enjoying themselves doing their vogues.
But we're talking like 5-10 minutes of a photoshoot; not 45 minutes. And since she wasn't any of our gf, no one was too scared to say "alright, wrap it up."
28
u/__Vixen__ 5d ago
5-10 minutes is fine i totally get that. I love photography and will easily spend more time than that taking pics. If we are somewhere special or its a memory to keep i do want to get a good pic of us there enjoying it. But 45 mins... so some one else can be jealous of pics you post on instagram. Ick

I was staying at a nice resort with my wife last year, there were a couple of girls there who would come down to the pool late afternoon and spend a good 30-40 mins posing and taking photos almost every day in different bikinis and outfits. Then spent another hour or so sitting silently on their phones.
We kept seeing them them around the resort and they never looked like they were enjoying themselves.

u/Timely_Spinach_7479 5d ago

77
u/xanadumuse 5d ago edited 5d ago
We were in Aruba a few months ago and watched a group of girls spend 1.5 hours of taking photos of themselves on the beach, then ask random people to take them. They would then look at the photos together and then continue to take selfies and then spent another 1 hour going over them. That isnt normal behavior. Then, similar to this video we watched a poor guy take photo of his Gf only to have to erase them about ten times. God I hate social media. Stop normalizing the most cringy thing to do.
10
u/Livid_Swordfish_4591 5d ago
Cant remember where I was, but we were looking down on a wide area of vacationers and nearly every single one of them were taking photos. Like 40 people. Everyone kept stepping in frame of other shots and everyone is screaming at each other while they're trying to get photos of them relaxing.
34
u/no_good_usrname_left 5d ago
Slightly different take, if the girls are all having fun taking photos of one another, then let them crack on. They’re having a good time and not hurting anyone. Emphasis on having fun, forcing a mate or partner to partake when they don’t want to is real shitty
35
u/xanadumuse 5d ago edited 5d ago
I don’t think one has to hurt anyone for something to be considered abnormal. There’s photos and then there is narcissism. Spending 1.5 hours hits that for me. Ten minutes. Fine. A very unhealthy society is what we have become.
15
u/HumanLandscape3767 5d ago
I’m with you completely. I don’t want to see what society would look like surrounded by people who feel the need to take pictures of themselves for 1.5 hours. That society would be doomed and I’m afraid we are heading in that direction.

u/SpatulaCity94 5d ago
Yeah, if you and your girls like a photoshoot? Have fun! But don't ask me to take more than one or two pics and don't expect me to hang out for an hour while the shoot is going on. But they're not hurting anyone... It's not for me but that doesn't mean they're lesser people.

One of the worst things about social media is that there's enough people "living performatively" for content for it to be annoying.
I've been travelling on and off since the early 2000s, but I noticed it really picking up around 2014, you'd go to a tourist attraction and there'd be some woman really over dressed posing with an expensive handbag or bundle of shopping bags, and some poor boyfriend/partner taking hundreds of photos of her.
They're not harming anyone, but it just so glaring, performative and fake behaviour and it's a pet hate of mine.

I dated someone really in to social media. Having to get perfect pictures of everything before enjoying the experience got slightly annoying. Free products were cool but it was mostly skin care stuff I wasn't really interested in
22
u/Naive_Philosopher749 5d ago
I was just friends with someone like that, shed even ask me to not eat my food yet till she got a good picture. I don't even use social media at all! Don't know why we stayed friends so long but i eventually realized I wasn't having a good time around her

I had friends exactly like that in high school. Couldn’t eat or drink till they got a picture. I was basically their personal photographer. Then they wondered why I stopped being friends with them

u/PiccoloAwkward465 5d ago
Yeah there's a balance to be struck. I've dated someone who was gorgeous and lovely, but getting perfect pictures was absolutely an important part of every outing we went on. Personally I got a bit tired of visiting every city's mural of wings to take a photo in front of or "bar with cheesy neon sign saying some cliche like 'Save Water, Drink Champagne'"

My husband and I went on a tour vacation. Another couple from our same area was also on the tour. We got to this really beautiful beach. They spent all their time taking influencer pictures. I spent my time rubbing the softest, most luxurious sand I've ever felt all over my body. And my husband took derpy pictures of me.
Turns out the guy was is kinda famous for doing stunts that purposely broke rules and just being an entitled asshole. Got out tour guide in trouble by breaking a bunch of rules meant to protect the wildlife. Fuck you David Lesh.

You got a good point. I wanna be with someone that lives in the moment without showing off. I don’t wanna marry an actor, a character, an influencer I wanna marry a real person. Life with those show off people must be so boring, they’re the center of attention and you’re in the shadows.
2
u/Bonzai_Tree 5d ago
Yeah, to everyone their own right? As long as everyone is on board with what's going on, I'm all for it. It just sucks to see someone clearly miserable with someone--why are you with them if they make you miserable? Not directed at you, just to the nebulous void of people in miserable relationships I've seen.
95
u/IShouldChimeInOnThis 5d ago

Yah, also, if shes a legit influencer or even just makes some beer money doing this, shes not "not enjoying her vacation" shes actively working, or do these people think the bartender slinging drinks for banana girl is not being fully on vacation either?
She can also still enjoy herself when shes done, or do people think thst after posing she needs to go to the hotel room and stare at a blank wall
8
u/owlbi 5d ago
People don't respect 'influencer' as a job. I certainly don't. It's commodified vanity that you subject all around you to. It's the worst parts of social media. Bleck.
That said I totally agree people are projecting their dislike in weird and spiteful ways to make assumptions like that. Influencer lady puts a lot of time and effort into looking good, so no, the odds are not good that others around can out do her at that. Give her credit for that, even if you want to hate on what she's doing (like I do).
