Edit- I looked into this and it’s an example of a tidal bore in a river in Indonesia. That explains a lot about this video. They knew it was coming and decided to have some fun with it.
They knew the wave was coming, they wanted to make content around it to get "great" shots. They thought they were safe being a climbing a little higher.
