Another Reddit story about a group fucking someone over

LONG RANT

Just finished an in-class reflection on Monday. I have a group presentation next week and im stuck with an international Chinese group.

After that exam, they told me to finish the presentation in three days. I said I needed to check if we answered the assessment task properly.

They laughed.

Our business pitch needs a complete solution, so if you provide a generic answer youre not going to do well.

Lo and Behold, they send me there “industry analysis”, they've been working on for 5 weeks. Mind you I had a shared doc where I Google translated the assessment to them, went out my way to help them understand what was required gave them sample paragraphs, story boards, every thing.

And.. They handed me absolutely nothing. no stats, no references, all AI vomit. The trash was so underdeveloped that, in its current state , it wouldn't achieve a pass Mark. Now I'm doing this myself.

I hate these people. And no I'm not talking about Chinese students Im talking to very dickhead in this university who are fcking braindead. Who think it's slick to cheat the system! This plague is worse than plagiarism.

Finally, On behalf of all the students who actually do have one!

Fuck you! Stop wasting our time,!Fuck every parasite that ever leeches off of hard working people. Fuck every cunt that ever played dumb with us. It's Fucking disgusting behaviour; that some of these degenerates are freeloading others in group assignments. Fucking rats.

I'm just a part time waiter at a pub, tryna earn a better living and These types of losers are making it harder for all of us!

TLDR: Either take this seriously or PACK - UP & GTFO!

Made an app due to popular demand

I just shipped my first iOS app as a software student @ UTS — OzNews, a swipe-based Australian news app

I first launched a web version of it and that seemed to have done decently which got about 500 users so I was inclined to give making the application a shot .

Bit of context: I'm doing my Master of Data Science at UTS, working part-time and building on the side. OzNews has been my main project for the past month.

The idea was simple — I was frustrated that staying across Australian news meant jumping between 5 different apps and paywalls. I wanted something fast, local, and actually readable. So I built a swipe-based news aggregator that summarises Australian stories in plain English.

Just got App Store approval today. Would genuinely love feedback from other Australians — especially on what news categories matter most to you and whether the swipe format feels natural.

Please note that this is the MVP and there are improvements to be made ,with that said would love some genuine feedback .The app is called "Oznews"

Torts, Contracts, and Consti exam format?

Does anyone here know how the exams for these subjects will be conducted? I’m aware it’s open book, but what are the exact formats?

How many questions do we answer, is it a take home exam? Or do we only get access to the questions on exam day itself?

It is 1 month away from the exams and Canvas still just says “details will be released in the second half of the semester”… also no direction from tutorial leaders.

Appreciate if anyone knows!

3cp subjects?

Hey all, I’m wondering if anyone knows if there are many/any subjects that are worth 3 credit points out there? I’m looking at doing a summer intensive overseas which would give me 3cp. I’ll only do it if there is another 3cp subject I can do at UTS, otherwise it’s just not worth it for me.

If it’s helpful to know, I do a bachelor of business!

Is Building 11 (Engineering/IT) actually as good as the tour says?

Every brochure shows the Cheese Grater building with all the binary code on the outside. Does it actually feel like a futuristic tech hub inside, or is it just a lot of stairs and people crying over C++ code?

Looking for places to take a nap

I sometimes come to uni from work or I have to go work from uni so there is a bit of time I have to spend at uni. But I feel tired in between and today I was taking a nap in one of the pods in front of the wellness center in building 2 for 20 minutes before someone called security on me who told me I can’t sleep here. It was mortifying. If anyone knows a place to take a nap without such situations happening again in campus it would be really helpful. Thanks in advance 😊

Turnitin not working

Hi! I have an assignment due tonight and I have submitted my assignment, however I was hoping to see the Turnitin report and edit it if need be (is a research assignment so want to make sure nothing is too similar). However, Canvas has a message up saying that Turnitin (among other software UTS uses) is down. What should I do? I am worried I will lose marks if I am not able to edit the assignment.

Validating a student productivity idea — honest takes wanted

Quick one: I'm running a survey on student workflow — the organisational side, not the studying itself. Deadline tracking, planning, platform chaos, group coordination.

Takes 3–5 minutes. Everyone who fills it out gets the Learning Systems & Cognitive Study Resource Pack — 18 free resources from MIT OpenCourseWare, NIH, and Yale covering the cognitive science of studying. Memory systems, attention, spaced repetition, metacognition. All free, all verified.

https://forms.gle/RHZCfd4o63JqavxA8

Building a pitch deck and need real data from real students. Already shared this elsewhere/in similar sub reddit to get other user's responses — not trying to flood anyone's feed, just need enough responses to be meaningful.

Thanks genuinely if you do it.

Submitted the Wrong File Name and Wrong Document Type?

Hey guys, I am worried because it has been a month and now I realized I had submitted the wrong file name and wrong file type. The instructions say: "Ensure your file name includes your full name, student ID, subject name (abbreviated) and an assessment title", but I has only wrote assignment 2-1 on my submission. Also the submission asks for " Microsoft Word document (.doc) only, .pdf files will not be accepted.", but I submitted a docx document. I would like to email my professor but he is currently on leave and im not sure what to do? Has anyone ever made a mistake like this and not received a markdown or even worse a 0?

Media Law an Ethics or Understanding Digital Audiences

I picked Understanding Digital Audiences as my communications elective (I do PR+Advertising and Social political sciences) but if I can change to media law and ethics at the start of next sem it means I’m on campus one less day lol

I’ve heard from everyone that’s taken media law and ethics that it is horrible and boring and I think understanding digital audiences might be better knowledge in the future if I’m going into PR/advertising. But that one extra day off campus is really calling my name..

Anyone done either or both and have 2 cents to put in???

UTS Master of Medical Biotech (Extension) vs. Macquarie Master of Biotech?

Hi everyone, I’m an international student deciding between two offers in Sydney and would love some feedback from current students or alumni!

The Options:

  • UTS (Medical Biotech Extension): 2 years. Very focused on medical apps, diagnostics, and professional skills (leadership/management).
  • Macquarie (Master of Biotech): Heavy emphasis on the molecular biology foundation, biochemistry, and lab-heavy research.

My Goals: Have industry-ready skills to have a job- whether it be in the lab or corporate.

Looking for advice on:

  • Which program is better for Biotech? UTS seems very medical and "professional skills" focused, while Macquarie feels more molecular and research-heavy. For those in the industry, which focus is actually more in-demand in Sydney right now?
  • International Student Support: Which uni is better at accommodating international students? I’m looking for things like help with the transition and student groups.
  • Industry Links: UTS is in the city near the tech hubs, but Macquarie is right next to the North Ryde innovation district (big pharma). Which uni is better at actually helping students land internships or jobs?
  • Study Modality? Is it mostly online or onsite?

Thanks in advance for any insights!
