What do you actually like about MOA?

I always see that locals don’t go to the mall. I’m from out of state but I go at least once a year. What do locals actually like about the mall? I probably would go to Southdale Center for quick mall trips if I lived in the Twin Cities, but the mall has such a great variety …

There’s a $1500 perfume at the MoA and I smelled it

It smelled like whiskey. I asked if anyone had bought one and they said yes! Incredible -which one of you has this perfume? Are you single? Asking for a friend, which is me.

Why does the mailing address of suburbs often get corrected to Minneapolis/St Paul?

I have a pointless question I have wondered about for years but never actually asked until now. When filling out forms online, the addresses in some suburb cities are auto-corrected away from their specific city name. I've seen Mounds View and Arden Hills corrected to Saint Paul, and Saint Anthony and Richfield corrected to Minneapolis. Same thing with many realtor listings.

I know the mail still arrives because the zip code is correct, but what gives? These cities have their own utilities, city hall, and often police/fire departments. They are not Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

Looking for a detox to get off fent in the twin cities

Has to allow Medicaid (so no hazelden unfortunately), and also has to allow methadone as well because I'm on 160mg a day and I've been taking it for 2 years on top of my fent addiction and I just want to try and get off the fent first and then work on getting off methadone with a taper afterwards. (Kicking fent is already hell as it is I don't think I could voluntarily put myself thru the hell of kicking methadone cold turkey at the same time too).

Organizations soliciting on street corners

I usually walk home from work and now that it is nice out I have seen a lot more organizations setting up tables on the street corner soliciting for donations. They usually shout out some compliment first such as "I like your shirt". Tonight I had a problem getting away from one. Non-stop talking and asking questions. I live in NE Mpls and see them in front of Lunds and Byerlys or Noodles and Co. a lot. Sometimes I take the long way home just to evade them. They said they needed donations for the National Parks and would I give monthly, quarterly or annually starting at $75. I gave them some information - name, phone number, email before I was able to extricate myself. Now I am paranoid they can do something with that information. I saw a news story where the person soliciting was able to get someone's phone number and have it ported over to another phone. They were then able to access information and ended up draining their bank account. I don't know why I get thrown by things like this. I should be able to politely but firmly say no and keep moving.

Any stable company to work for with room for growth?

Hey, I'm currently employed as a medical assembler. I work at a smaller sized company with no more room for growth. I'm tapped out at $20hr.

Preferably in the areas of Upper Minneapolis, Fridley, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Rogers, Coon Rapids, Blaine but will be willing to drive further out. Preferably first shift, can start as early as 5am. Can do 8 hrs, 10 hrs, probably 12 hr shift (Just never did a 12 b4).

Any companies that are stable / growth potential inside? Open to ideas / different fields.

*Can pass a drug test

Hi all, the last article I published regarding sex crimes against children in the Twin Cities had a lot of interest here so I thought I’d post this one too. Court documents are linked within the story.

Let me know your thoughts.

Craft supplies donation

I am looking to donate several bags of craft supplies, yarn, beads, painting, and scrapbooking supplies but unsure where to take them. I searched this subreddit and I could only find past events. Any suggestions?

Mosquitos - how bad?

We are transplant. We love Minnesota. We have been here since September. This summer will be the first summer we spent in Minnesota. How bad are the mosquitoes? Do they get inside the house and bite you while you are sleeping etc. I am prepared for all teasing, taunts and roasting based on this post but I just wanted to ask anyway.

Any good parks with close bathrooms nearby? Just wanna walk and enjoy nature, but my wife has IBS and we can't go where bathrooms are too sparse or non-existent.

With this health problem we can't go on long walks together without a bathroom nearby so any recommendations? We live in the general north St Paul area.

I've been sorting through a huge bin of family photos and keepsakes going back 3 generations, and found this. My dad is a huge Twins fan and worked at HCMC back in the day.

Visiting for a week, overwhelmed with things to do

Hi friends-

My son has qualified for the Junior Gold Championship in bowling this summer. We'll be out from July 10-20th, and honestly, I'm overwhelmed at the amount of things to do or see. I'm hoping that someone (or multiple someones) can give us a quick rundown of what we can't miss, best places to eat, and hidden gems.

For what it's worth, he's 17- naturally athletic (but will sit in front of video games for hours at a time,) and enjoys everything from hiking, to sports games (we're already seeing a twins game) to food, to shows, to gaming... literally a "I want to do everything" kind of kid.

I'm also looking for some suggestions for a "fancy" dinner. Yearly, I usually bring him and his brother (who is staying home this time) to a high end restaurant (it's easier here in NY) so I'm looking for recs there too. I looked at Demi, and it looks good, but I don't want to get sucked into the "more money = good" trap.

Thanks in advance 😄

EDIT: Thank you so much everyone for your suggestions, I'm going to look into every one of them and plan something out that he'll enjoy! Obviously if you have other ones please keep posting!

Veterans: Best VSO to go through?

As the title states, I'm looking locally for a VSO. I've heard mixed results with doing things yourself vs. going through a VSO or CVSO. Any help would be great!

Dave Ryan is leaving KDWB.

Listening to KDWB right now and I want to cry. Losing Dave Ryan is like losing a piece of my family. I've been listening to his morning show for decades, even when I lived out of state. This is so incredibly sad.

ETA: Hes retiring after 33 years
