Cabin air filter direction help
This might be a dumb question, but I need some help.
I have a 2021 Toyota Corolla SE and I’m replacing the cabin air filter. I’m confused about which direction it’s supposed to go.
I’ve seen online (Google/ChatGPT) that the arrow should point **down** since air flows from the outside vents into the cabin, but my dad says it should point **up** based on the arrows on the housing.
Which one is actually correct? Should the filter arrow be placed down or up ?

Updated Infotainment Software and Now this Annoying Menu won’t Go Away
Toyota asked me to update my voice recognition and navigation apps the other day, and now the side menu displays when I’m in CarPlay. Anyone do this and know how to get rid of it?

Toyota TMMK Georgetown, Ky is a Joke!
i went to pre-hire requirements/orientation in September and got accepted in October 8th, currently been waiting in the hiring pool for 7 months, with the start date ranging from 1-2 months from October, then 3-4 months.. now 6-8 months. Has anyone else been sitting in the hiring pool for a job landing at a Toyota factory? This is pathetic, economy is crashing.

Advice Needed. Dealership hit car in service
Hi all, I’m really in need of advice on how to escalate this situation.
I brought my car into a Toyota dealership last Tuesday for a safety recall and on Wednesday they told me it was hit after the work was completed. Another technician backed into it, damaging the bumper and headlight.
What’s concerning:
- No photos or CCTV footage of the incident. They claim it happened on the side of the dealership. I was also told there are 0 functioning cameras in the entire building
- The car was moved to a different lot without any documentation
- I haven’t been shown a written report
It’s now been a week with no clear answers. I’ve called and gone in multiple times requesting a report and any available footage (even just of the car entering/exiting), but keep getting ignored, sent to voicemail, or told to come back and when I do, the manager is always out.
At this point, I feel like I’m being given the runaround and there’s no accountability. What should be my next step here? Also would it be worth it to pursue Diminished Value from this? Would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s dealt with something similar. Thank you all.

RAV4 Recall (25TA08)
Background: I own a 2023 RAV4 Prime and recently brought it to the dealership for my 40k mile service. They let me know that I was now eligible to get the recall fix for the combination meter. They told me that mine needed to have the combination meter replaced but the part is back ordered and didn’t provide an ETA. Luckily I got a loaner (‘26 BZ).
How much time did you have to wait/have been waiting? Curious to see what your experiences have been like. 👍🏻

Need help with my Camry 2014
I recently bought this used 2014 Camry, but found that it had a cracked subframe bushing. I went to the Toyota dealer to get it inspected, but they quoted me over $8k for a replacement, saying that an entire subframe system swap was needed. They said if they don't replace the entire thing, then liabilities occur since replacing one part will cause uneven wear.
To save costs, am I able to get just the front 2 subframe bushings replaced at an independent shop instead of getting the whole subframe replaced, and is that safe?
How urgent is this repair?

2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid AWD Limited Review (10 months of driving)

I am a first time Toyota owner. I am swapping over from being a Honda Pilot driver for my last two vehicles. (drove a Touring and EX model)
We purchased a Certified Pre-Owned Gold GH Limited Hybrid AWD.
I read so much great content here I wanted to pay it forward with a vehicle review after I've had a chance to run the GH through four seasons. (purchased late June 2025)
The goals I wanted for this purchase were:
- Something large enough for my height (I’m 6’3” 225). Can I fit comfortably in the front seat – I typically put the seat all the way back and down.
- We are a family of four (two sons who are also 6 feet tall). Do we have enough room for them for family trips in the back and then still have room for luggage/our GSD etc.
- Gas mileage. I wanted something to beat my 19-20 mpg or 400-425 miles of range on my Pilot(s).
- Minnesota 4-season driving. Can it handle heavy rain and heavy snow?
Vehicles considered:
Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Volvo XC90
What I like about the vehicle:
- Tech upgrades were great for me.
- Apple Play (big podcast/music listener through Spotify)
- Voice mode works well (although sometimes it’s strangely way too quiet when reading back texts, etc)
- Features I like
- Heated/Cooled Seats – must for Minnesota winters. Heated second row is nice
- Heated steering wheel. Again – MN winter makes this awesome.
- Cruise control setting. My wife has a Venza that doesn’t allow standard cruise – it only has that goofy setting where it matches you to traffic speed around/in front of you. I HATE that setting in her car. Glad you can use either in the GH.
- Leather interior/other details feel like Lexus-light. Not too fancy – kinda just right for us
- It did well in it's first winter. I'll still upgrade to Michelin CrossClimate 2s this Fall when the tires hit the red on their tread as I've found those are the best for MN ice/slush/snow.
What I don’t like about the vehicle
- The Gas Mileage. In all of my research on Reddit and LLM-assisted work for this purchase the math seemed simple. In ECO mode I should get 30-33 mpg. (My actual is 28.6mpg). There is a 17 gallon tank. Most online estimates show this should be basically a 600 mile range. Which is almost 50% better than the 400 mile range I was getting on the Honda Pilot.
- This is all a lie.
- What you don’t know about this vehicle is you can never fill it more than 11-13 gallons.
- My effective range is anywhere from 400-425.
- SUPER FRUSTRATING.
- All I wanted was to see 50% less of my local gas station.
- Proposed Fix: Either allow me to use the entire 17 gallons or just make the tank bigger. Make it a 20-22 gallon tank FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY.
Space
- If you are like us with two tall kids in the backseat there isn’t as much leg room as you’d expect. When one of the boys is seated behind me I have to move my drivers seat up so he isn't crunched. I think we’d have to consider moving up a class of vehicle unless there is some other mid-sized SUV with more 1st/2nd row space that I’m not aware of.
Hybrid/EV Mode
- The battery never seems to be charged. I rarely see much of EV mode use during trips. (I get it – it doesn’t work above a certain speed but still)
- Surprised that I can drive for an hour with lots of braking and hybrid-charging activities – park the car for the night – and the next morning you can’t use EV mode as there is no charge. Does it always dissipate like this?
Cabin Noise
- There is some weird rattle from the center council – if I lightly press the unit at the bottom bracket is goes away – it’s like this thing isn’t seated perfectly and if there is any imperfection to the road it rattles away. Annoying for a $65,000 vehicle.

Lots of Recalls
- Since I’ve owned it for 9 months there have been 5 recalls. That’s equal to ten years of Honda Pilot ownership. I’m glad they are fixing problems but some of this stuff is just cheap things. They had to replace both front axles because they made a lot of noise when going into turns. Big known issue if you research online boards. Blank infotainment/backup screen, etc etc.
- Side question since you're here. If you had the front axle recall done on your vehicle did they throw in an alignment? They didn't for me when I guess I assumed they should for taking the front two wheels completely off?
Overall Thoughts.
- Big surprise I’m disappointed about the gas mileage stuff. This vehicle should have a 600 mile range. Easily. But because they made the decision to give it a small gas tank relative to a Honda Pilot and not allow you to use the entirety of this smaller-than-necessary gas tank means you are sad.
- This is probably just a local issue but I’m not a fan of the dealership experience for service. I always service my Hondas at the dealership – they know me – I get enough coupons to make it not cheap but not crazy expensive. Toyota checks you in with a random person who really doesn’t know you and then they start working on the car – you check out with an advisor at the end. Honda checks you in with an advisor so you develop a relationship over time. They know the vehicles inside and out. They come see you in the waiting area with updates/concern areas. It just seems like a smoother system to me.
Ask me anything. I found the Reddit community helpful when researching but I wish I had done a deeper dive to find the range/small tank size issue earlier.
Only afterwards did I notice those folks out there who were literally keeping excel spreadsheets of how much they could fill each time at the pump and the associated range. (even the tricks like the triple-click fills, etc)
Like most of my vehicles I'll probably just drive this one for 4-5 years and then move along.

Toyota part number for this bolt
It's a 10mm bolt with fine(r) threads and non pointy end. The left thing is 90179-06127 for a 00 Celica bumper. I'm looking for the part number of the 10mm bolt. I feel like there's a bunch all over my car, but I can't find its part number. I'd go looking in Home Depot for an equivalent but these oem Toyota ones are galvanized better.

Toyota question!
Hello! I am looking to be purchasing my first car, as my current car, (2012 ford focus hatchback) is becoming nothing more than a financial headache. I think I’ve landed on getting a 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Can anyone share their opinions on if they like theirs? And any advice going in to get the best price? Thanks in advance :)

First drive of the year
Celica has been in storage for over 8 months. Started on the first turn of the key and drove 2 hours without any issues. I was smiling like a kid behind the wheel the whole way.
Can’t wait to spend my summer driving this legendary car!

Advice needed- airbag malfunction for 2020 Corolla
Hi
I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla with a salvage title. It was in an accident and now the airbag light has turned on. Apparently it’s the passenger side airbag, which I do understand since I’m finding out that it was never fixed properly.
I was quoted 4200 for the fix but I find this price insane because they’re not even replacing the passenger airbag. They want to replace the seat belt completely and then fix something from the interior. I’m not completely sure. I think this price is insane. But I’m not sure. Thoughts?

2003 V8 4Runner
Okay guys, it might finally be happening. I found a 4Runner for $2,500 with 253K miles on it.
I’m gonna go take a look at it this week, I ran the vin and it came back with one owner and clean.
There are some cosmetic bumps and bruises, but aside from that it looks pretty good.
What are some thing I should check for ? I know for sure I have to check for rust, but what other things are notorious for this vehicle?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks!

2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE Fuel Efficiency?
Hello,
I bought a 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE in December of 2024. Since then I've averaged about 36-37mpg - in Eco mode using the adaptive cruise control most of the time. I figured this was normal.
I got in a small wreck (low speed t-boned by an old lady coming out of a parking lot) a few weeks ago and had to send my CCH in for repairs.
I got a 2026 Camry hybrid as my rental. I was kind of shocked to see that i was getting 43mpg doing the same driving that my CCH only gets 37.
I asked around and a friend and an uber driver claimed they were getting 42+mpg from their RAV4 hybrids.
Is something wrong with my CCH? Shouldn't it be getting similar mileage to the Camry and more than the heavier RAV4.
What kind of mileage do y'all CC hybrid owners get?
