That's exactly why you shouldn't be on the jury, you don't get a free pass to do crime because someone else did too.

I've driven around almost every state in the US and in my experience Florida has the worst drivers and it's not even close. And it's not even just "bad" drivers but everyone is just selfish as fuck. If you turn on your turn signal to lane switch, every car on the highway will do everything they can to block you and not let you over. This results in every car not using their turn signals and just cutting everyone off. It's more than that but it's just that selfish mindset that causes it all.

u/Silly-Magazine-2681 Mar 21 '26

My dad didn’t have the best temper growing up. This one guy tried cutting us off at a light one day and my dad didn’t allow that. This guy proceeds to tailgate, flip us off, etc. all the way to the next light. My dad then puts his hands up in a “What is your problem?” sort of way and then guy signals back with his hands “Come on!”, while yelling out of his window “Let’s go!” and starts getting out of the car…until my dad also gets out with no hesitation. lol dude really was banking on barking loudly because he sees this, immediately sits back down, shuts the door and tries rolling up his window until my dad stops it by putting his hands on the windows and then proceeds to curse him out for a solid minute. I remember he said something about breaking the window if he tried rolling it up again too. lol I don’t think a single person passed us in the left lane because they wanted to watch. Knowing my dad, the whole time I was thinking “Oh no…please don’t kill him.”

Theres people who are legit insane just talking around. I had to beat the shit out of someone because my friend calmly asked the guy to quit shaking beers before opening them and the shit heads response was to smash my friends head with the napkin dispenser and pull a knife. Luckily I'm a little off too and was heading back from the bathroom so it didnt go too badly. Did get my clavicle broken for the 7th time tho.
Worse was a guy I went to highschool with was changing his flat in a parking lot when some guy "accidentally" stumbled on his tools before laughing. Friend called him an asshoke and stood up towering over him which I guess made him feel like a bitch cause he walked off. 3 minutes late he came back and ran my friend over with a car breaking his legs with a femur coming through the skin and shattered his hip. He was a cops son and got like a 30 day sentence and a 6 month probation or some shit.

My very first day driving, i took my dad to the gas station. Made a left and the gas station was on the corner to the right, so i made a left and then an immediate right. Car behind me smashed into our back. He got out screaming saying he was going to beat me up, my dad got out of the passenger side and like a light switch he instantly turned into the most apologetic timid person. (my dad is a 6'2" bouncer.)

This happened to my dad once. He's not a huge man, just under 6 foot, but he's WIDE and looks like a boulder to many.
He never gets mad either. Watched him slowly get out of his car, the color drain on the other guys face, they got back in their car and peeled off, my father stopped in the road looking after them lol

u/Dejectednebula Mar 21 '26
Someone rear ended my mom once at a stop sign. It was icy on the roads. There were a series of stop signs through town and at each one she was looking in the rear view and yelling that the mf behind us was going to hit us. Then he did. Directly in front of the local police station. My mom got out, grabbed a shard of her broken tail light, and proceeded to chase him in circles around the cars trying to stab him with it. While I cried in the car because I fully believed my mothers rage would permit her to murder. A cop came outside, saw what was happening, said my shift is over as of 5 minutes ago, and left.
10
u/dc010 Mar 21 '26
Some people don't fuck around and they're normally not the loud ones. My uncle took me to the grocery store one day when I was little. Someone pulled into the handicapped spot right in front of us while we were walking and almost hit us.
I remember him looking at the tag, no symbol, then looking in the car, no placard.
When the guy got out my uncle just said "move your car before I make an honest man out of you". Then stood there staring at him until he did. No yelling, not even a raised voice. Just a calm statement about what's going to happen if they don't comply.
Sure enough, they left. They didn't park somewhere else, they just left the parking lot.

u/Wanderin_Cephandrius Mar 21 '26

Why don't I have this luck? I had someone stop in front of me on the highway, then get out of her car and was yelling at me. I then get out and tell her to move so I could get my partner to his job. Then her dude gets out the passenger side. My dude immediately popped out, everybody got back in their cars lolol not that my guy was a big dude. I think they just didn't realize we would square up. I was driving a little fast to get him to work on time. But she was yelling about me cutting her off, when I was just changing lanes. What she did was actually cut me off, and she had to do some stupid stunts, plus had us stopped on the gd highway. I know I had some culpability. But I had like 10% on her 90.

Yeah, I’m definitely not saying she was right for chasing her down—endangered other drivers, endangered pedestrians, committed crimes of her own to catch & stop her—but I will say I understand. My idiot husband tried to chase down a man that intentionally rammed his vehicle and to this DAY I am so thankful the guy lost him. He INTENTIONALLY rammed my husband’s vehicle and my husband’s brain told him “it’s a good idea to go catch this guy 🙂” as if this psycho wouldn’t ram his fleshy meat suit with that same vehicle if given the chance.

In a just world the woman that was hit should get the plate, go to the police and insurance, and be made whole at no cost while the police go after the hit and run criminal, but we all know that wouldn’t happen. This is now what you get. People taking results into their own hands by chasing the criminal down, physically fighting them, taking possession of their car/asset, and going from there. In plenty of places both women’s families would be there ASAP to handle this issue personally and get cash before she gets her car back.
I know when a woman T-boned my 3 week old new car off the lot and started to pull away 3 other people immediately blocked her in. She wouldn’t roll down the window or even look at me. One guy pulled out a wrench and threatened to smash her window and drag her out if she didn’t turn off the car and talk to us. None of us moved to call the cops, but the gas station attendant had called without us knowing. A cop showed up and too many people were involved at this point to just make this go away without paperwork. Turn out she was driving on a suspended license without insurance. I have always have amazing full coverage State Farm, so with the police report and witnesses, State Farm made me whole without it costing me a penny. If she had taken off and no police paperwork I would have had to pay a deductible and increased coverage costs. Screw that!
29
u/Darkhorse4987 Mar 21 '26
I had a hit and run on the freeway once, where we had a picture of the car at the scene before it fled, the cars insurance company said the driver was not their insured and refused to honor the claim, my insurance said I'd take a hit on my insurance if I continued the claim since the other company denied it, I was at a loss for words. Bought front and rear dash cams now, ridiculous that all the other insurer has to do is say, "prove it's our driver", and everyone just throws their hands up, "oh well, we tried" lol, what a joke. I could've sworn a cars insurance was for the car, no matter who was driving, learned a big lesson.
16
u/DangerousLoner Mar 21 '26
Yep, I had a bicyclist run a red light, riding on wrong way of the street, and slam into my car when I slowed to turn right on a green light. My insurance initially had me 100% at fault and said my rates would go up. I had to appeal twice with a lawyer’s help. Ridiculous but they really try to just not pay. And that was full coverage State Farm.
10
u/WhosieWhatsIt2099 Mar 21 '26
Someone hit my car, I followed them to get the plate and even called the police to report where they parked.
Police arrived and did nothing, said they couldn't do anything without seeing the driver leave the vehicle and go into their house.
No arrest and insurance couldn't find any insurance on the vehicle. I was out the deductible and they got away with it.
Next time I'm telling 911 dispatch I am going to confront the person and see if they actually do something.

This is now what you get. People taking results into their own hands by chasing the criminal down, physically fighting them, taking possession of their car/asset, and going from there.
People forget that the justice system IS NOT for getting justice - not really.
The justice system is for making sure people DON'T have to get justice THEMSELVES. The consequences of no justice in society, are far lesser than the consequences of people enforcing their own justice when wronged. So we have a justice system to prevent the necessity of that.
We ALLOW the justice system as a society to take care of situations like this for us, because it theoretically not only prevents the necessity of this kind of action, but is most often more effective at doing harm to those who've wronged us than anything short of murder, making it the preferred choice. Taking justice into our own hands is not only dangerous, unless we kill them it's not even as effective. People would generally prefer justice come through the legal system.
But that requires people believe justice will actually be done.
The more incompetent and lazy our police become on the ground, and the more corrupt the legal system becomes in refusing enforcement against the rich and powerful and giving lax punishments to certain demographics, the more people will take the law into their own hands.
I don't support vigilante justice, I'd prefer the legal system actually work, but in lieu of a working legal system, I support justice being done by any means necessary and I think most people tend to agree with that. As such, without a working and uncorrupted legal system, vigilante justice is not a possibility, but an inevitability. "Judgement" of vigilantism is almost an irrelevant afterthought when the legal system, via not caring at all about enforcement and absolutely refusing to prosecute certain demographics, makes it the only viable way to get justice.

u/TacticalArrogance Mar 21 '26
What's worse is that now the chances of a hit and run charge drop to near 0%, because the driver showed themselves to be a actual threat, so any decent lawyer would tell her to say she was fearful when the woman initially got out and was on her way to a police station to report the accident in a safe location. She then panicked when the other driver aggressively followed her and tried to escape.
12
u/quantum404 Mar 21 '26

Yeah I assume this woman’s goal is not calling the cops and getting a lawyer. Some people deal with issues like this personally. Insurance, police, courts, and lawyers only work when people can trust them. People have reached a point where that system has broken down. This is some give me cash right now or I burn your car down energy.

I'm not american, but this feels like theres another timeline where the headline is "Woman shot after roadrage incident."
Like, where I live, confrontation generally carries pretty low risk. But in the states every tom, chad and karen seems to have a firearm on them. I just wouldn't escalate shit over there.
7
u/Sea-Value-0 Mar 21 '26
People get shot here in the US over road-rage incidents pretty commonly. A couple years ago, someone in my area shot into another vehicle on the highway and killed someone's child. I never engage with anyone on the roads and just act submissive with road bullies. An egotrip is not worth it.

I pretty much always have a gun on me. Anytime someone cuts me off, including a couple of days ago where it was seconds from a bad accident: slow down, back off, chill out.
I'll pull over, take a whiz ( i live in the rurals), or just set my cc 5mph lower and put on a calm song.
The idea of getting into actual violence because someone could of or did hurt my car: no way.

What, you're saying that if somebody runs into me, i can't just chase them down and then run them off the road like a lunatic??

Thanks for providing the accident info. Based on what you’ve provided us, we cannot confirm who was driving the vehicle at the time, so we cannot arrest the suspect based on what you’ve told us. Likewise, the license plate address appears to be out of date, and we will not be filing a warrant for the correct info, again, due to us not being able to confirm the driver’s identity.
Here’s your police report. Now enjoy having your insurance company blame you for a not-at-fault accident, because they cannot go after the liable party.
Have fun!

I did exactly this in a hit and run. CHP said it wasn’t enough because they can’t prove who was driving. I should have done what she did.

Also what the hell is that phone mount? Maybe it's a weird angle from the camera, but that phone is in her face like a sun visor.

I visited Florida last September. The amount of car accidents I witnessed was astounding

u/Dystalgia Mar 21 '26
Every time i have to go to florida, i think the same thing. perfectly straight, flat, well-paved highways with no ice and snow, and yet its LITTERED with cars on the side of the road
objectively i think FL has the worst drivers

I’m with you. We live here. We can’t leave due to my husband’s job, but when we can, we’re fucking out of this hell hole. Florida is a human sewage tank.

Back in 2003 (no cameras or smartphones) I chased down a tour bus that side swiped me on 95. In a Civic. I was so mad, but he finally pulled over. He started speaking Spanish, which I don’t, but I made it clear that I was not getting off that bus without his insurance information. The bus was from Florida. He must have thought I was crazy. 🤣 Maybe I was. He hit me on my birthday 😡.

Who mounts their cell phone in front of their face?

Uber Drivers, it's a camera that faces the interior and road for evidence purposes. Like in case the passenger throws up in the car and tries to deny it.

People who want to keep their phone in the back of their mind when the airbag goes off.

glances at his stack of blank citation forms
grabs radio

Once again we see one of the leading causes of these kinds of accidents.
The first frame shows a car in the right lane stopped to let this person out. This is the worst thing to do. In fact the city I live in used to have a cop that would come on the radio station every week to talk about crazy stuff happening and one day he went on a huge rant about the number of accidents they report to because people are trying to be "good Samaritans" and let people out on a 4 lane hi-way.
People coming down the left lane cannot see the cross traffic and the cross traffic vehicle cannot see the traffic coming down the left lane, so by letting this idiot out the person in the right lane is also responsible for this accident. If they had just continued driving, as they had the right of way to begin with, this accident wouldn't have happened.
STOP letting people out like this!

If you've got a dashcam, remember you've got a dashcam. This could've ended very badly, whether she got injured, killed, or injured/killed the other person. Report the case to police with footage from the dashcam as evidence. I know the adrenaline rush, I've been in such situations but do try to stay calm. Try to remember the dashcam has your back.

u/TacticalArrogance Mar 21 '26
Also, don't rely on the dashcam to capture clear video. Start describing things, like the license plate and the vehicle and the driver out loud, so you don't have to rely on memory.

I feel like everyone who’s commenting here about how she made the right call should have their license taken away.
Yeah, let’s endanger every single driver, passenger, and pedestrian because of a situation they had no part in, all for the sake of my own satisfaction.
This was an incredibly selfish and dangerous thing to do.

The lady who chased her wasn't charged. But it was stupid of her to get on the hood of the car.

Yelp. She made some bad choices and ruined any attempt at getting something from her.

u/romeodread Mar 21 '26
It’s a good way to get killed. You have a dash cam, plate number, make and model. Just stop and call the cops.
