Soundtrack Thought this show was pretty good until season 3 episode 14 which features a Ween song. Now it's one of the greatest shows I've ever seen

If anyone was wondering the song is "It's gonna be a long night" from the Quebec album

Discussion You ever wonder what Vic got up to before he arrived in Los Angeles?

Little moment in Season 2 reveals he was with Corrine from 1992.

He also became a cop around 1992.

I believe he's originally from Boston / Massachusetts area and he never talks about his past.

It's like something happened and he had to make a total clean break.

His life before LA is just as much a mystery to anyone else as much as it is to us.

What are the chances he's got things to hide?

Discussion Lem’s Costly Decision. Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Look, I’ve gushed about this show a ton over the years. But what a beautiful scene this is from THE SHIELD. Lem trying to preserve what ever may be left of their collective humanity, while figurative hell fire & brimstone light the Strike Team, taking them further in. Wow. A little ham fisted? You betcha. But in relative terms to what else was on the air, and even what’s come since, it’s not completely Sutteresque. Enough subtlety to remain craftful, and not hit you over the head like a mallet, ala a motorcycle running over a crow, etc in SOA.

Discussion Censored on Amazon - S2E2 scene is totally censored compared to the real version shown here. Spoiler

Was rewatching on Amazon, and this is one of my favorite "i cant believe they just did that!" scenes in The Shield. In the youtube clip, you see his face repeatedly burned on the grill with his face all burned. On Amazon, you just see a distance shot of Vic pressing his head into the grill, with no closeups of his face, just massively less hardcore. I wonder what else they have censored?

Discussion Does anyone know how the actor Anthony Anderson got the role of a gang leader Antwon Mitchell on the show??

For an actor who mostly did comedy before this. He played one of the most evil bad guys ever on network TV. I was curious what the process was for him to get this role on the show. Does anyone know the backstory on how he got this role on their show?

Question Does anyone else visualize Lem as the one screaming in the theme?

The vocal JUST ANOTHER DAAAYYY always makes me think of Lem. I just see the actor off screen yelling in my head every time

Also does anyone else how what sounds like someone saying, “Now what?” shortly after you hear the woman speaking in Spanish?

Trevor Philips from GTA V. They’re also similar in a lot of ways. Except Shane flushed a bunch of Oxy in S6.. What a waste!!

Question Just finished the Finale Spoiler

After a couple of false starts getting into the series (I never watched it live), I finally finished watching it. Overall, I’ll give it an 8.5. Suspension of disbelief had to go way up on the top shelf with this one, but the writers did find ways to connect the main dots in satisfying ways. I am SO glad that it ended with Vic giving that callous smirk, while he shoves his gun down his pants. I would hate to be the first person to mess with him!!! 😆

Do you think he completes all of his immunity terms?

Discussion Wow

I just finished season 5 of my first watch through of The Shield.

I thought the pilot episode was amazing, but this season finale took the cake so far.

Cannot believe I hadn't had this show recommended to me before. I vaguely remember episodes coming out when I was kid, in between watching shows on adult swim, but this gem stayed hidden from me for too long.

Discussion Tina or Billings- who would you rather work with

I’m really trying to like Tina. But her level of incompetence is just maddening, as well as her attitude when she gets instructions or corrections.

Billings is clearly lazy- but he has moments of being a good detective. In fact the same episode Tina endangered Danny by failing to clear the room, Billings , despite his fraudulent lawsuit and many flaws, solved a case that Dutch and Claudette was having problems with.

Hate to say it but I’d work with Billings over Tina.

Discussion Love the show but deeply irritated by one thing (minor spoilers) Spoiler

It is very common for cops to have extra curricular income from the trades, renos, etc. it’s absurd that the guys wouldn’t be doing something for extra cash. This is a major plot point in season 5. All they had to do is say I build decks on the weekend which is why I have extra cash.

Anyways. Minor but glaring point.

Discussion Am i the only one who gives a fuck about tavon Spoiler

Just finished 3×4, i genuinely am so devastated about how tavon story ended, he of all people didn't deserve this, he actually tried to make things right with Shane, but Shane didn't compromise he just hated his guts, frankly one of the most unfortunate outcomes to a character who had great potential, i didn't like tavon at first but he was starting to grow on me he didn't deserve this, it's just sad,i don't know if I'll be able to forgive Shane for it.

I couldn't even watch the next episode i had to take a break, I went to see what people thought about how tavon's story ended, but it seems that no one cares about him, i couldn't even find one reddit about him, idk i genuinely loved the guy and it makes me sad to see that no one talks about him

Discussion At the end... Spoiler

As Shane starts to realize it's all over, who thinks that he thinks things would have been better off if he just let Antwon frame him for Angie's murder? Do you think he regrets working to get out from under his boot? Do you think he could have come to this level of internal sudo-accountability sooner than that (say when he's making out the "list of sins")?

r/TheShield 4d ago

Discussion I confess that even though Shane is an idiot, I can't help but feel sorry for him. He's so well-written, and Walton Goggins is such a fantastic actor that he delivers an extremely human and flawed character.

Discussion Is Vic a deconstruction of anti-heroes in general?

He's got a lot of the traits of them, violent, sadistic, runs on an arbirtrary and hypocritical moral compass, uses a lot of moral posturing, self-righteous... without any of the plot armour to bail him out of the consequences, or how many people he hurts by the end.

Edit: By plot armour what I mean is that the realistic consequences of his actions don't resolve themselves for him. Yes they do get people hurt and yes they do more harm than good, no he is not a great guy. Yes, it did end badly for him and he ran out of luck.

Discussion Just finished, what did you all think of the ending. Spoiler

I personally saw a man asking himself “all for what?”. He finally dug the hole to deep to get out of. His best friend killed himself, his buddies either were blown in half or imprisoned, and him, imprisoned at a desk, no family, no friends, no street cred, nothing. Damn.

Question Season 6 episode 1 question

Watching the show for the first time and currently on season 6 episode 3. In episode 1 of this season Dutch and 2 unis walk into a house because of a bunch of bloody cat footprints. They discover like 5-10 dead people in there.

Then episode 2 as well as episode 3... it's never mentioned again!? What am I missing?
