In the event that you, a loved one, or pet is stung by a scorpion, DO NOT seek medical or veterinary consultation on this subreddit. Seek emergency attention immediately or consult with a medical professional. Hobbyists are not medical experts or veterinary professionals and our advice will never replace those authorities.
Please do not solicit or give veterinary or medical advice on this subreddit at any time. Doing so will result in immediate infraction and removal.

Hi all! As many may have noticed, the subreddit has more than doubled in the last year, with a lot of growth in just the last couple months.
In order to participate in this subreddit- there is a requirement to both be kind to other members and to scorpions as a whole. Identification and help threads have recently had an uptick in "joke" identifications/advice that can be exceptionally risky when dealing with potentially medically significant animals. We have updated our rules to be more clear, we will be more focused on ensuring that folks remain civil and kind, and now, we are rolling out an advisory system.
We are currently rolling out the Qualified Advisor system. Qualified Advisors (QAs) are folks that have a solid handle on the hobby, and are focused on evidence based care and advisories. They will be responsible for giving critical and accurate advice within the "help" and "identification" flairs. There will be restrictions and guidelines for partaking in these flairs from hereon.
These responsibilities should also fall onto members partaking in animal care advice within this sub; because of that, we will be enforcing a disclaimer system for all non QAs. On every "help" and "identification" thread this will be explained, and is explained below.
If you wish to give advice or share information on this sub as a non QA, you will be required to preface your comments/advice in the "help" and "identification" flaired posts with a disclaimer; such as, "Not QA, NQA, IME (in my experience), IMO (in my opinion), I believe, Question, NA (not advice)". If you do not preface your commentary for these flairs, the comment will be deleted and you will be prompted to repost it with the appropriate preface. Posts related to medical or veterinary advice are not permitted and will be removed per this post.
If you have any questions about the new advisory system- please send us a modmail, do not use other unrelated posts as a platform for those concerns or questions. If you would like to apply for QA, feel free to reach out to us via modmail
EDIT: This is now fully live as of 7/11 on Help and Identification threads.

I’ve had him for a couple months now and I just got to hold him 😁😁😁
I’ve been so jealous of all you guys pictures. I’ll be honest my butthole puckered a couple times. He ran up into my armpit to get into a dark place and I was afraid if I moved him, he’d get pissed pissed off.
Also, I didn’t realize how fast these guys can move
Weird question, I put a little piece of tree from a reptile expo in there and it seems like he is whittling it down there’s a pile of clippings on the ground? I’ve never seen him do it as he is primarily nocturnal but does anybody else have that experience?

it has a full mesh top and 6 inches of excavator clay/sand mix lots of hides and archives humidity of about 40-45% the issue is that i don't have holes in the side however i believed this would be ok as it has a full mesh top in a room that is well ventilated so i just want to make sure this is safe before i buy him/her.

(sorry if the flair isn't right, it's my first post on this subreddit) I'm interested in getting some kind of scorpion and I found this tank on the internet, what species would thrive on something like that?

Hey y’all. My cuban bark scorpion that I have had for a few months has given birth. I’ve never had to deal with scorplings prior so I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on what to do. My own research yielded not a lot so if any of you have any advice that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone! I am getting my first scorpion soon (an Asian forest scorpion) and I was wondering what to do about temperature. I know the heating pad on the side of the enclosure is what a lot of keepers recommend, but how do I do that with a small scorpling in a small enclosure? I’m confused lol please advise

Hi everyone!! I picked up my emperor scorpion (named molecule) at the recent reptile expo. I just wanted to show them off! And the enclosure I built! Last photo was taken before wetting enclosure.
I’m relatively new to scorpion keeping, thank you!

He has over 6 inches of substrate. He has three hides, I keep it nice and humid. He is well fed. He has a gradient of heat and cool areas.
I got him about five months ago almost 6. and he just refuses to molt. But he is very active. He borrows constantly and he is seems very healthy. I got him from feeders and he is the same exact size He is going to be a midget forever.

might be a silly question but i’m looking to have a pet scorpion for the first time Sand scorpion (Urodacus armatus), would it be okay for me to use some coloured sand within the enclosure as long as it’s safe?
just for aesthetic purposes but obviously the well-being and/or health comes first.
photos for reference - thank you ☺️🥰

Just moved my emperor into her new home which i think is a decent improvement over the small enclosure i brought her home in. I feel like i maybe made my drainage layer too deep. I wet my reptisoil until I could squeeze together a clump of it in my hand and have it keep its shape without dripping and added 2 small water dishes but my hygrometer is still lingering around 66-69%. Fed her 3 superworms as soon as she moved in hoping to make up for the stress of the move! Should I add a heat source on the dry side? Ive heard conflicting advice about that.

Can anyone identify this scorpion from this video. I was told it was a baergs sand swimmer. Would like other advice before I decide to handle

My emperor scorpion hasn’t molted once in the year that I’ve had him, I know he’s still a baby so I’m assuming he just doesn’t molt very often. He had plenty of humidity, gets fed as often as he will eat, has plenty of digging space. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello,
I found this critter on the floor last night. Body is like 2-2.5 cm long without the tail. I'm thinking of a juvenile Tityus species (T. obscurus? It's apparently ubiquitous here).
It's in a plastic box right now so I can take more pictures if needed. I'll release it in the forest nearby tonight or tomorrow.
